CH63 (124), Lapras (2)

I observed as my space began the analyzing process of Lapras.

'Analyzing...., Lapras analyzed.

Start improving potential...., potential successfully improved.

Start optimizing genes..., genetic optimization failed.

Unlocking extra abilities...., unlocking extra ability failed.

Unlocking talents...., unlocking talents succeeded.

Checking energy storage....., energy storage can support activity.

Generating tailored habitat...., habitat successfully generated.

Add habitat to main space....., similar habitat found...., adjoining habitats...'

I did not want it to be fused into one of the existing ponds or placed adjacent to them.

'Detected rejection by owner....., scanning desire....., placing habitat per desire....., main space successfully expanded.

Relocate Lapras to habitat..., relocation successful.

Energy storage at 28%.

Process finished.'

The new pond was placed to the south of my area in the center of the space. It was about 6300 m² in size and about 20 meters deep on average. There was a mini-iceberg in the center of the pond that took up about 600 m² and its top had a height of around 10 meters. It helped create the perfect environment for an ice/water type like Lapras.

The important or more like the interesting thing was that outside of her habitat the cold temperature could not be felt and even the water inside her pond was not too cold despite being in contact with the iceberg.

Lapras who appeared on the pond that was created for her curious looked around. She seemed really satisfied with her new environment if I was interpreting the happy trilling sounds she was letting out correctly. I decided to check her new status while she was checking her new home.

'Name: None

Species: Lapras

Gender: Female

Age: 4+ years

-

Type: Water, Ice

Potential: Blue (6.9%)

Genetic variation: None

Abilities: Water Absorb, Hydration

Talents: Rain Absorb

Affinities: Water, Ice

-

Bond: Mikail (artificial, weak)

Quirks: Optimistic'

Well, she was a tad bit older than I expected, like around a year, but still pretty young. Still, she was pretty much near the current age of most of my Pokemon.

Now came a really pleasant surprise her potential. Apparently, the 160% boost by my space was enough to raise her potential from deep green to blue instead of light blue which was nice.

There was also her new talent, Rain Absorb. My space seemed to have used her abilities to derive the talent. It used the rain aspect of Hydration and the healing from water moves aspect from Water Absorb to create/unlock a talent that healed her during/through the rain.

It was kinda like the ability Rain Dish, which was an ability the Lapras-species did not have. Well, abilities were species abilities/talents, while talents were personal talents.

So, her getting a talent that was derived from her abilities but resembled an already existing ability was neither impossible nor too surprising and it made her an even bigger threat than she had been before.

I was definitely helping her learn Rain Dance as soon as possible. They were going to call her the undying Lapras. '*buahahaha*'

*ahem*

Being optimistic was good as well. It would protect her from getting depressed or frustrated or at least make it really hard for her to feel like that.

'Parameters:

Stage: Bronze Stage (mid)

Vitality: C

Strength: D

Endurance: D

Agility: E

Energy Capacity: D

Energy Density: C'

As far as her parameters are concerned she was not too far off from the (high) bronze stage, which was great. Other than that there really wasn't much to say about it yet. Next up were the type influences.

'Immune:

Water

-

Resistance:

Ice (Major)

-

Weaknesses:

Electric (Minor), Grass (Minor), Fighting (Minor), Rock (Minor)

----

Condition:

Healthy, Happy, Excited'

Thanks to Water Absorb Lapras was immune to the water type. If not for that she would have had a (minor) resistance to the water type instead. The only "other" resistance she had was a (major) resistance to the ice type.

Then there were her weaknesses which she, unfortunately, had a few of, 4 to be exact. Luckily all of them were only (minor), with her weakness to the electric and grass type being due to her water typing and her weakness to the fighting and rock type being because of her ice typing.

Her condition was pretty clear and could be explained by her new environment and her being an optimistic individual.

'Masteries:

Water Energy Manipulation (Beg.), Ice Energy Manipulation (Beg.)'

Well, she had the energy manipulation for both her types and they were both at the beginner mastery instead of the novice one, which was good. It showed that she invested enough time in training the manipulation of both elements and not just dryly executing moves.

'Techniques:

-

Novice:

Perish Song

-

Beginner:

Confuse Ray, Body Slam, Ice Beam

-

Proficient:

Sing, Mist, Life Dew, Water Pulse, Brine

-

Advanced:

Ice Shard

-

Mastered:

Water Gun'

This led me to her moves. She has a decent number of them and the most useful ones were trained up pretty well as well. Well, except for Ice Beam, but that one was most likely a "recent" addition.

Still, there were a few moves that I was planning on helping her learn with Rain Dance being on top of that list, closely followed by Rest, and Sleep Talk in case she falls asleep but can't set up a Rain Dance beforehand.

Aside from those, she would definitely have to increase her mastery of Ice Beam, and getting the basics of Hydro Pump down shouldn't be too hard thanks to her mastered Water Gun.

Once all that had been accomplished we could think about learning moves for type coverage like Psychic, Iron Tail, and Thunder. Once I was done checking her status I entered my space as well and appeared in front of her.

She looked a bit surprised by my sudden arrival which made me smile a bit. I asked her what she thought of her new place and she excitedly told me how much she liked it.

After some small talk involving some of the things my Pokemon and I had seen until now, I told her I was going to recall her inside her ball since I was going to introduce her to my parents.

She just happily nodded at that having no complaints at all. You gotta love people with positive attitudes. I also told her that the space was a secret that only me and my Pokemon were privy to so that she knew that she couldn't mention it outside our group.

After that I recalled her and left the space, appearing back on our raft. I had only been gone for like 10 minutes and Xatu as well as Pidgey had been keeping an eye on things during that time.

I looked at my watch and saw that it had gotten pretty late. By the look of things I was going to cut it really close to dinner, so I thanked Pidgey for her hard work and recalled her, before creating a platform to stand on.

Xatu seeing my move took off the raft as well and I stored it inside my space. I turned to him and asked him to get me home as fast as possible. I may have had a great excuse and all that but I would still like to avoid being late.

By the time we arrived in front of our home it was exactly time for dinner, and with that I mean the moment we normally started eating. So, even my father should be home by now.

Since I was not inside I was late even if it was only by a minute or two. With that "happy" news in mind, I entered the house and called out to my parents.

"I'm home!" I shouted with a happy tone while I walked into the living room and looked straight to the dining table.

I saw that the table was set but the seats were empty. A quick swipe through the living room showed my father sitting leisurely on the couch looking in my direction with an amused look.

The reason for his amusement had moved right in front of me while I was looking at my father. My lovely mother stood in front of me with her arm on her hips and a look that was a mix of slightly disapproving and disappointment.

You know the kind that directly hit you in the feels and instinctively make you feel bad.

"Mikail, honey. Could you tell me why you are late?" She asked in a really sweet tone that told me that she was pissed.

As soon as I heard that her tone was sweet and her voice was soft I knew that I had f***ed up. If you did something and your mother screamed at you she was only angry but if you did something and she talked to you in a sweet tone then trouble was brewing.

Here, a way to defuse the cataclysmic event that was about to follow in such a situation. Step one put on a really sweet smile and call out mom in a really loving tone, the familial kind not the adult kind for those that can't stop thinking the wrong stuff.

Step two, the mom has to be immediately followed by a warm hug. This combined with you calling out to her in a nice manner should defuse most of her anger. However, it won't solve the problem, which is why you have to do step 3.

Step 3, divert the focus/topic to something else. Something positive /happy would be preferable. Now I have to give a disclaimer that these steps work best if you are a young child or young teen.

Teens could pull it off as well, but the older the person performing the steps the less likely they'll work. So, if you're not a young, handsome/cute person like me, well tough luck. I naturally followed my sage advice to the letter.

"Mom, I have to tell and show the two of you something great, but before that, we have to eat dinner. We don't want the super delicious food you made to get cold. Let me help you bring them over."

I buttered her up just the right amount, and it worked splendidly. It put a smile on her face after all.

"Alright, you sly little cutie, you're off the hook this time. BUT only because you were late by a few minutes. Let's eat dinner, I am curious what your mysterious surprise is." She shook her head with a smile while she said that.

Once I saw that the situation was diffused I looked over to my father with a smile on my face. I saw that he had lost his gloating smile and kept looking between my mother and myself as if he could not believe that I got out of the situation smelling like roses.

Heh, cuteness for the win, old man. I wiggled my brows at him and he released a snort that he covered with a fake cough. I helped my mother bring over the food as I said since I was a man of my word. We ate and as always it tasted great.

After cleaning up the table we went to sit on the couch. Once we were comfortable I pulled out Lapras's WaterBall which made my father facepalm.

"Again?" He asked in an exasperated tone, that made my mother and I chuckle.

"Yup, and this time it's for me." I happily answered.

"What is it?" My mother asked me curiously and my father looked just as curious despite his earlier act.

I put on a satisfied smile because I knew this information was going to awe them. Lapras were awesome Pokemon and really popular, but they were pretty rare among trainers since it was not easy getting one.

"Do you remember how I mentioned hearing about a Lapras migration that was going to happen?" I said while wiggling the ball.

"I found them and got the permission of the pod leader to look for a Lapras. I obviously managed to get one and she is great." I told them in a self-satisfied tone and they had awed expressions on their face.

My mother directly smothered me in a hug and released a happy shout.

"Honey, that's great. I'm really happy for you. Lapras are really strong Pokemon and they are cute as well." She praised me happily.

My father patted me on the back with a smile while agreeing with my mother.

"Your mom's right. You really lucked out with that one, take good care of her. Lapras are known to be gentle, friendly, and noble Pokemon, so treat her well. It's a Pokemon everyone would be happy to have on his or her team after all."

I nodded at that before I mentioned the second part of my "surprise".

"After I caught Lapras I talked to the pod leader and asked her if I could bring the two of you over as well so that you could see if there was a Lapras that was willing to accompany you. She agreed, so I could take you to see the school if you want to."

I gave them the news and they were really happy with the news. My mother released a high-pitched squeal of happiness and my father laughed happily.

"Great job, son!/Well done, Baby!" My parents said simultaneously while my mother smothered me in another hug.

I told them I was going to go ahead with Xatu tomorrow to locate the school once more since they would have traveled further during this time. Once I found them I would return home and we would take them to see the Lapras.

After settling that we went out to our garden, specifically to the pond and I let out Lapras to introduce her to my parents.
