CH98 (462), Keep Going (2)

The week after that was a tame one with nothing out of the ordinary happening, which was another way of saying that it was a rather monotone week. At least, it was like that until Grouday, which was when Yoruichi decided to do a surprise visit.

She literally just showed up outside my window and knocked on the glass a few times while peering inside with a big smile. Thankfully, she chose a moment when I was not inside Utopia since I was not sure what that mischievous woman would have done if she saw that I was not in my room.

Coming inside to surprise me was just one of the options and even that one had a lot of ways to go down. Anyway, thankfully I was actually there when she showed up, so I let her in and she plopped onto my bed with a big smile.

"You seem really happy," I pointed out before posing the obvious question. "Did something good happen?"

"Why don't you take a guess, and if you manage to get it right I'll give you a reward," she returned playfully while wagging her eyebrows.

"Sure," I replied ignoring her teasing. "Did you just finish beating up someone before coming over to my place?" I proposed half-jokingly, making her release a very lady-like snort.

"Oh, sweetie no. That's for later, after lunch," she said with a shake of her head. "Don't worry, I'll be gentle," she added before continuing. "C'mon, try again," she urged while motioning with her hand for me to get to it.

"Let's see," I mused out loud. "Did you catch a new Pokemon for your team?" I unhurriedly guessed since I knew she had been interested in expanding her cat collection. Sorry, I meant her Pokemon team.

I saw a brief flicker of disappointment flash through her face before it vanished and she shook her head.

"No, I was too busy lately to travel to the western continent," she said sounding quite regretful about it. "Still, I managed to clear out 3 months of my schedule so I'm actually going there in a few months and I'll hopefully manage to track down that electric Liepard," she added and I could not help but be a bit surprised.

"Where'd you hear about that from? I haven't heard anything about an electric Liepard variant," I couldn't help but ask. She first gave me a smug look before she laughed happily for a bit, and only then did she choose to answer the question.

"Someone in my feline appreciation group bragged about it and even shared some of the pictures he managed to take before it got away," she said and I saw her take a moment to appreciate my curious look.

I could not help but wonder what the Liepard looked like, or rather how different it looked from the original, so I could not help but speak up. However, the moment I opened my mouth to ask her to show me the pictures she pulled out her phone and handed it to me with a laugh.

"Here, I know exactly what you want," she said before she let go and I saw that she had opened the picture she mentioned. It was not a close-up picture, but it was definitely good enough to recognize the Pokemon as a Liepard. However, unlike a regular Liepard, this one seemed to be a light blue instead of purple, and the yellow looked lighter as well.

After taking a closer look, it seemed as if the tail looked slightly different as well, but I was not really sure if that was true or if it just looked like that in the photo. Regardless, it still looked similar enough for me to wonder whether there was a difference or not, so the difference itself was not that big even if there was one.

"What do you know, it actually looks great. Honestly, I prefer this one over the original," I shared with her before I swiped the screen since she said there was more than one picture.

What I saw was a selfie of Yoruichi, so I did a "back swipe" to go back to the Liepard picture before doing another "back swipe" thinking the one I looked at was the last Liepard picture. I did not see another Liepard picture, but another Yorichi pic, and in this one she actually had a teasing smile with one of her eyebrows lifted challengingly.

I heard Yoruichi giggle beside me when that happened, which told me that she did that arrangement on purpose. I gave her the "look" and she kept laughing, but motioned for me to keep swiping, so I did another swipe. This time I actually got to see another Liepard, but truthfully, I saw nothing I had not already seen in the first picture.

"Thank you for showing me this," I said while passing her the phone back. "Though, I have to ask, was the joke the reason you were so cheerful?"

"Nah," she replied with a shake of her head. "I finally broke through to Tier 4 on Dialday, and I just finished testing my new limits. That's why I'm happy," she leisurely dropped a bomb and I did not bother hiding my surprise. She certainly seemed pleased with my reaction.

"Can't have you catch up to me, can I? How else am I supposed to beat you up?" she actually teased me. I could not help myself, I began to laugh. Still, I got a grip on my laughter and directly congratulated her for her achievement.

She then bragged/shared a bit about what kind of tests she did afterward and their results, before we left for dinner, after which she dragged me into sparring. She ended up winning the spars in which I did not use my psychic abilities pretty solidly, but I managed to force a draw whenever we went with anything-goes rules.

It actually felt like I would be able to eke out a win if I was just a bit better, so I could not help but look forward to the time when I reached the second and first classes. Though she seemed to know what I was thinking since she had to pipe up and remind me that the same was true for her.

Anyway, we freshened up in the gym shower and went out for dinner before separating afterward. Arcday was a return to the previous calm pace, which immediately got interrupted on Mewday by none other than Tatsumaki/Alakazam.

She contacted me an hour or so after lunch and requested that I check her status. Since I was still at the lab, I naturally asked her to wait until I was back at the dorm. For the next five or so hours, I was rather excited by the prospect of Tatsumaki being done with her limit breaking.

Though, I made sure not to show that outwardly, so my work performance was not negatively affected. If anything, I managed to go through more combinations than usual. Anyway, I clocked out, made my way to my dorm room, locked the door, closed the curtain, and entered Utopia, where I was greeted by a reception committee.

I greeted them before I checked Tatsumaki's status under the watch of the others. I was not surprised to see that she had in fact completed her limit-breaking, but I was certainly happy about it, and everyone began to cheer when I shared the good news with them.

I made the announcement and we moved/teleported to Tatsumaki's area, where we began to wait for the others to show up. Once they had come over as well, they began to encircle her while I went up to her to give her the pep talk. I hugged her before joining the others, and she initiated her breakthrough after I gave her the starting signal.

The whole thing went super smooth, and now, a year after her evolution to Alakazam, Tatsumaki had officially reached the gold stage. I swiftly went up to her to congratulate her on joining the golden club before we were joined by Mothra/Butterfree and Gwen/Gardevoir who directly congratulated her as well. Seeing those two rushing to us like that, the others joined in as well, and I simply moved on to checking Tatsumaki's new/updated status screen.

Well, as expected her breakthrough pushed her potential to deep purple, and she was missing less than half to reach the light aurora grade. The way I saw it, she would definitely reach it after her breakthrough into the dark gold stage. Unless something ridiculous happened, which I did not believe would happen.

The rest of the sections, until the parameter one, remained unaffected by her breakthrough, but I could not help adding a mental 'not yet' whenever I saw her empty quick section. I blamed Mega Mind, I meant the movie, not the talent.

Anyway, looking at her individual parameters, her starting Energy Capacity was pretty impressive, though her starting strength and endurance were rather sad. Ultimately, Tatsumaki got to start at the (mid) gold stage, and she really work on her weaker three parameters before she would be able to reach the (high) gold stage.

I honestly did not believe she would be able to reach that point before I finished my second year at the lab, but doing so before I began my third year was not impossible. Who knew, maybe she would end up surprising me by advancing earlier than I expected her to do.

Moving on, I was a bit disappointed to see that she did not get the lucky resistance completion that others had managed to trigger. It would have been great if her bug weakness had been standardized during her breakthrough. Unfortunately, it seemed we would have to finish it the classic way.

Anyway, that left me with the move section, but that one was unchanged as well. Still, I was happy to see Gravity Crush listed there even if it was only at novice mastery at the moment. I was sure she would be able to improve it quickly enough, considering her talent and the fact that she had already mastered Gravity.

Regardless, since there was nothing else to see, I focused back on the others and declared that Tatsumaki's celebration would start after dinner, which I then began to hand out. Once dinner was over, I pulled out everything for the party, and as promised we started the celebration, which went on until close to midnight.

The rest of the week after that was quiet, and the next/final week of the month went pretty much the same. The new month began on Grouday, so Arcday actually started off the second week of the month, which meant the 27th month happened to be one with 6 weeks instead of the usual 5. Though the first and sixth weeks only had one day each.

Nevertheless, I was curious about what the new month would bring since there were quite a few things that could potentially happen during this month.

Somewhat of a spoiler, but a minor time skip happens in 10 chapters.

If the second goal gets fulfilled, I will release 2 bonus chapters on webnovel, and the lowest number of advanced chapters available on patre'on will be 8, while the highest number of advanced chapters will be 12.
