CH105 (469), Evolutionary Term (2)

The rest of the week after Ali/Gallade's successful evolution passed by without any further disruptions, and the same was true for the following week, as well as most of the week after that. Still, on Dialday of the fifth week, which was the last one this month, I decided that it was time to move the first batch of grass-type younglings to Utopia since the 18 months I had given them were up.

I had waited until the end of the month so that I could gather up a bunch that had hatched a few weeks after the first one. I was going to do the same next month, and the months after that.

Anyway, I made my way over to my assigned lab plot and spoke with Vileplume. She had known that this was coming but she still looked a bit reluctant now that she had to part with the younglings for a major part of the month.

I would have taken her in as well, as I was doing for some of the Gloom who were going to take care of the younglings inside Utopia, but she had to stay here and take care of the rest of the younglings/babies. That number was currently higher than the one I was going to take in, and it would remain like that for a better part of a year or two.

After that, Toedscool and his harem could retire from the production line-styled life they were currently living/enjoying since by that time, a few of the Toedscool they had brought into the world should have reached the point where they could assume the responsibility of uplifting their numbers.

I'd transfer him to Utopia once that happened so that he could live with his kids, and hopefully, at that point, I will be able to exchange his wives with the lab so that they can join him as well. I was ready to compensate the lab generously in return since I was sure that getting them would make a lot of my "future" grass-type Utopia residents happy considering that they would be their kids.

Anyway, I had already stored everyone's balls inside Utopia, so after I moved the 24 younglings that were involved to Utopia along with the 4 Gloom that would supervise them, I thanked Vileplume as well as Toedscruel for their help and left for my dorm.

I had one of my thought streams keep an eye on Utopia the whole time to deal with the new arrivals. A lot of them were new species that entered Utopia for the first time, so a lot of new habitats/areas got created to accommodate them. 10 to be precise, and I made sure to move all of them beside each other, creating something like their own district at the outermost circle, with the Vileplume/Toedscruel (VT) habitat as the centerpiece.

Honestly, due to the number and power/stage difference, the 10 attached habitats only increased the centerpiece's size a bit, but that would change in the future once the Pokemon increased in number and got stronger.

For now, I had 4 Oddish, 2 Bellsprout, 3 Tangela, 2 Exeggcute, 3 Sunkern, 2 Petilil, 1 Maractus, 2 Formantis, and 3 Bounsweet that went through the Utopia treatment and were moved to the central VT piece, where the 4 Gloom were already waiting for them since they had already gone through the Utopia analysis as well as upgrade process a long time ago.

Obviously, such a commotion did not go unnoticed by the others, and they all moved to the new grass district. When they saw all the newbies they enthusiastically welcomed them, and after I entered Utopia, they asked me to throw a welcome party, so I did.

I mean, tomorrow was Kyoday and I had nothing planned, so I saw no reason why I should not agree. Though, the younglings themselves fell asleep an hour before midnight. Yet, the others kept going until 2 or so a.m. Everyone slept in on Kyoday and except for a few early risers, the others only woke up close to 10 a.m.

After breakfast, everyone began their morning training, and the newbies watched them. All of them were still in the stageless phase, so none of them were allowed to do proper training yet, but seeing their interest and desire to move, I had them play/run around under the supervision of their aunts as well as uncles.

The addition of younglings did not change our everyday life all that much, and the weekend went by rather swiftly. Since Kyoday had been the last day, the 34th month had begun on Grouday, so Arcday not only started the new week but also directly became the beginning of the second week.

Seeing how the first week had only one day, it was no surprise that nothing really interesting had happened. I mean, while I did end up spending the weekend back in Hope Town, monthly visits were kinda nothing new, so I did not count that as an outstanding occasion as long as nothing unexpected happened during the visit.

The second week on the other hand did offer quite a surprise, even if it could be considered a last-minute one since it was something I noticed during my routine check-up on Grouday. The one who gave me this gift was none other than Charmander, who had managed to complete the first round of his limit-breaking, which meant that he was now ready for his first evolution. My boy was going to evolve into Charmeleon.

Everyone was super excited when I shared the good news with them, but the most excited were Charmander himself and Osiris/Marowak. Osiris embraced the little guy and lifted him up for a bit saying that it would be hard to do that properly once he became a Charmeleon since they would be around the same size.

I had to chuckle a bit when he said that since we both knew that Charmeleon would probably be a bit bigger than him since there was a slight height difference between their two species. Even if it did not happen now, considering how young Charmander still was, it would happen within a year or two.

Anyway, we made our way over to Charmander's habitat for his evolution, and on the way there I made the announcement over UtopiaFm. The Spinda Quartet had not been around during the check-up and I was sure they would want to watch the evolution. The same was true for the younglings, and a few others who did not belong to the main team.

We did not have to wait for long since everyone that wanted to watch joined us within just 10 minutes. I spent that time preparing the area and pulling out the supplements I had prepared for this moment. In the beginning, Charmander watched me work, but he got bored after a few minutes and moved toward Gible, Togetic, Eggy/Salandit, and the others instead.

So while they chatted excitedly about the upcoming evolution, I finished my preparation and took an admin look to make sure that no one was still on the road. Afterward, I called Charmander over to my side so that I could start applying the supplements for external use on his body. Togetic stopped him for a moment to give him a lucky hug, and I could see that becoming a tradition in the future.

Once I began, the others started to form the viewer circle, and I had to suppress a snort when I saw the confusion on the faces of the younglings as well as their supervisors, who were new to the ongoing situation. Gwen/Gardevoir did explain to them what was happening, so they quickly joined the rest.

After I was done with the external supplements, I had Charmamder swallow the potions as well as pills I made, and once they went down the hatch I gave him some last-minute encouragement before stepping back to join the others.

Osiris shouted some final encouragements as well, and I eventually gave the thumbs up once Osiris was done. Charmander lit up a few moments after I gave the signal, and we all watched as he sucked in energy from his surroundings while lighting up the place.

The whole process went pretty smoothly and before long the light died down, and in Charmander's place stood a proud Charmeleon. Before I could take my first step forward, Osiris had already rushed toward his little bro, who was no longer as little as he used to be.

In fact, they now seemed to be around the same height, which meant that Charmeleon was now a little above 120 cm tall. That was slightly above the average height for his species, but I was certain that he would grow another 10-20 centimeters within the next few years as he got older since he had yet to reach his growth limit.

Anyway, while Charmeleon was using his arms to illustrate to Osiris that they were now at virtually the same height, much to everyone's amusement, I moved to their side as well and congratulated him on his successful evolution.

Everyone else followed suit seeing how Osiris had already broken our usual modus operandi. I let them have their turn and chose to check on Charmeleon's new/updated status instead.

Aside from the obvious species change, the next difference was his improved potential. While he still had purple potential, the percentage had grown by slightly more than 30% which was pretty great for someone with his potential grade.

He would have already attained light aurora potential during his breakthrough without this, but now he had a buffer in case he ended up unlocking something. As long as it was not a level 2 modifier, he would still get his aurora potential.

I shared the good news with him as well as the others, and they began to cheer in joy. I pat Chameleon on his head, before I moved on and unfortunately failed to see any changes in the next few sections, including the affinity one. I had hoped that his dragon affinity would upgrade to a full/standard one during the evolution, but sadly that did not happen.

The parameter section was unchanged, which was no surprise at all. The same was true for the mastery section, but that was not unusual as well unless a type change or something along those lines happened.

Frankly, I expected the move section to follow that trend, but I ended up being surprised when I saw that Charmeleon had actually ended up learning a move during his evolution.

Dragon Claw had been one of the moves that were on his to-learn list, along with Fire Spin, Fire Punch, Iron Tail, and Dig, but it seemed like we could strike it out, now that the move had been gifted to him. I would have him focus on Dragon Claw until it reached beginner mastery before he started on the other moves.

We were trying to expand his move pool before we fully focused on improving the ones he learned, at least until he evolved to Charizard, and once he had learned the 4 leftover moves he would be ready for phase two.

Anyway, I stopped focusing on the status screen and shared the good news with Charmeleon, much to his happiness. The others congratulated him, and we all watched as he tried out his new move. After he performed 4 Dragon Claws, I decided it was enough for now and began pulling out the party stuff.

That attracted everyone's attention, including Charmeleon, who stopped using Dragon Claw in favor of looking over at me, and seeing them all look at me, I declared the start of the celebration.
