CH124 (488), Covert Mission (6)

The next morning I went out a bit earlier than usual to quickly finish checking the last 3 grunts allowing me to complete my mission. More important than that, I would hopefully be able to take part in the next phase since I had some serious frustration I had to work off.

Not the best mindset for what was coming next I know, but the guy deserved it, so I did not feel bad for him, ... Too much. Anyway, I finished the check-up as fast as I could without causing any suspicions or compromising my goal, and thankfully, no further grunts came up during the mind sweeps.

As soon as I safely retreated from the last grunt, I put the finishing touches on my list/report before calling Mr. Cameron to notify him about the successful completion of my mission. I shared the number of grunts as well as the team leaders I found and told him that I was sending him the list/report I made.

Once he confirmed that he had received the list, I brought up my request to personally capture Nate while they took in everyone else. I also made sure to give him a reminder to be nicer to the ones I marked as decent before he could say anything.

Thankfully, it did not take long for me to convince Mr. Cameron that my idea/request was an acceptable one, and once I managed that, he told me to be ready and in a position to capture Nate by 2 p.m. That was in a bit less than 2 hours, considering that it was some minutes past noon right now.

More than enough time for me to head to Celeste City, find Nate, and keep an eye on him until I was given the starting signal. I was also going to try and keep him away from other people since my plan regarding Nate was going to be a bit messy.

I had to release some frustrations and I was planning to go with a good old "crushing an evil guy"-type of therapy for myself. That involved the main part of the reason he felt entitled to mess with others, which was his strength, or rather that of his Pokemon.

I would give him a dose of reality by one-sidedly crushing his Pokemon with only a single one of mine. A good old showing of "don't do to others what you don't want to be done to yourself" performed by little old me. I mean, if he thought might is right, then he would get to feel how it is to be at the other end, and I was planning to mess with him mentally while our Pokemon were fighting.

That would deal with the other part of why Nate was acting the way he was. He believed that he was better, smarter, and more cunning than his victims and pretty much everyone else, so in his mind, it was his right to do what he wanted.

Yeah, Nate was pretty messed up, and his childhood experience was not the reason for it. The sources were pretty reliable as far as that was concerned since my knowledge came straight from his mind. He actually had a pretty decent family before he chose to sever any bond with them after starting his journey.

Nate was just a typical/model example of a person falling into corruption. He first began by simply regularly hanging out in the seedier parts of the cities he came across before he began getting more involved with the criminals that could be found in such places.

From there he began taking part in crimes. He started out small and began "working" his way up. While he did that he began to enjoy the feeling of being superior to others and/or harming them, and things escalated from there. Before long he got off from torturing puppies and stealing lollipops from babies.

Anyway, enough justifying the cruelty I was going to inflict on Nate. It took me only 20 minutes to be in Celeste City, and an additional 10 minutes to spot Nate, who was casually strolling around one of the bigger parks in the city. For a criminal hiding from the order, this guy was rather carefree.

Still, I counted myself relatively lucky since the place was merely perfect for my plan. In that vein, I acted as if I was one of the parkgoers around and passed by Nate to get the necessary closeness for the next step of my plan.

Thankfully, that guy was rather self-assured, and I easily managed to plant the subconscious suggestion that he should slowly but steadily head into the deeper and more importantly emptier parts of the park until he was at a place devoid of any other people.

While he did that, I made sure to covertly follow behind him, and I passed by him a few more times to implant some more suggestions, mainly with the goal to make him ignore any doubts he may get and letting him linger until at least 2 p.m. I could not let him get the idea of leaving the convenient place I had managed to lead him to after all.

Anyway, within an hour Nate was in a rather isolated part of the park with no one else around and I heard him mutter about this was a rather ideal place to have some fun with some hypothetical victim without anyone getting any wind of what was happening.

I had the urge to facepalm when I heard that. Why was I surprised that the first thing this guy thought of after walking into this place was to use it as a potential crime scene?

Still, there were close to 30 minutes until 2 p.m., and I could not help but worry about Nate noticing something off once he began wondering why he kept hanging around this place for so long. There was only so much subtle mental suggestions could do when faced with something that made no sense.

No idea if it was a coincidence or not, or if his subconsciousness had guided his mind to come up with an explanation that would let him follow the suggestions, but I considered myself rather lucky when he decided that the area was perfect to eat his lunch.

He took out a blanket that he spread on the ground before sitting down and pulling out some sandwiches from his waist bag along with a can of beer. When I saw that, I actually considered if I should stop him from drinking too much since I did not want him inebriated when I implemented my punishment, but I decided against it for now.

Thankfully, he kept it at that one can, and chose to drink some other fuzzy drink after finishing his beer. I watched impassively as Nate enjoyed his meal while keeping an eye on the time and the pager given to me at the start of the mission. My hopes were finally answered when two minutes after 2, the pager vibrated and the message spelled go ahead.

As soon as I read that, I began walking toward Nate. Not bothering to hide my presence at all. Obviously, Nate first heard coming and then saw me leisurely heading in his direction. It was no surprise that he swiftly stood up and focused on me.

We were in a rather secluded area after all, so my appearance was dubious, and none of my previous suggestions would be able to change that. Hence, the wary look on his face was normal.

"Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?" Nate asked aggressively, acting as if this place was his property and I was trespassing.

"Oh, I had not expected to come across anyone around this area. What a coincidence," I said lightly, and the moment I uttered the word coincidence the mental trigger I left inside Nate's mind activated, releasing all the memories related to me that I had locked.

He released a grunt before his face went through a multitude of changes that I found quite amusing. Seeing him visibly go from bewildered to confused to shocked to alarmed to dismayed to indignant to enraged to furious caused me to chuckle.

*Raghh*

"Who are you, you b*stard? How dare you mess with me? Do you know who I am? I'm going to skin you, then gut you before making you eat your entrails," he screamed in near-apocalyptic rage.

I just laughed for a moment at his rage, causing him to get even angrier, his face turning so red that he could qualify as a tomato. "Stop laughing you b*stard. Do you want to die that much?" he yelled in frustration.

"How is it, being played like that, huh? Do you like being on the receiving side?" I mockingly interrupted before chuckling a bit. I saw him trying to regain a semblance of calm before throwing me a venomous look.

"Who are you? Why are you messing with me? You better start talking or I'm going to make you regret being born. Hell, I'll make your mother regret bringing you into this world," he threatened and I could not help but be displeased when he said the last bit.

"Oh, did I strike a nerve? Are you a momma's boy? Don't worry once I'm done with you, I'll find your mommy and send her your way, but not before having my fun with her. Heck, I'll pass her to my lackeys first so that can have their fun as well until they get tired of her before sending her to join you," he actually dares to say, inadvertently touching one of my taboos.

I released all my aura and psychic energy, blanketing the area in my power while pressuring him not only with my presence but also with my telekinesis, mimicking the effect of higher gravity. My actions cause him to tremble all over, straining to keep standing, and I saw sweat running down the side of his face.

"It seems you're failing to understand what kind of situation you're in right now," I said in a deep tone, using my powers to carry my voice around the area despite talking in a low voice.

"You're done," I began in a flat tone. "Your minions and everyone else from your little group are done as well. By now, they have no doubt all been captured by the Aura Guardian Order, and the only reason I have not simply knocked you out yet is that I want to play with you for a bit before handing you over to the order," I declared dismissively, looking him right into the eyes as I said the last bit.

"I'll think that you need to feel the helplessness of all your victims so I've decided to help you with that. Only after you've experienced that helplessness, the fear and anguish of being at the mercy of others will I bag you up and hand you over.

So, until you've experienced that kind of powerlessness we'll be here," I explained, purposefully keeping up the pressure to keep him from rudely interrupting me while I was talking, and I could see him struggling against my telekinesis, showing just how much he wanted to do that.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot that this may be a bit too much for a weakling like you. Here you go," I mocked before blessing my hold on him enough to let him speak.

"What makes you think a wet behind-the-ears guy like you can scare me?" Nate practically squeezed out. "Besides how do you plan to do all that? If I can't escape, I'll simply give up. Jail sounds like a nice vacation," he said the last bit trying to sound as indifferent as possible.

"Ah, but that's the thing," I said with obviously fake nobility. "I'm offering you a chance to escape. If you play along, you'll have the chance to flee," I baited him and I saw his attention peak when I mentioned the possibility of him escaping. That hope was exactly what I wanted to see.
