During the next three weeks, I spent the days from Arcday to Kyoday going through the schedule dictated by the military, while I used my 6 hours of free time on each of those three Grouday to follow up on the other failed incursion attempts that I had marked down.
Well, I actually used the first two Groudays to look for the Rhydon/Rhyhorn grouping that got stopped and redirected close to 9 years ago. I knew that they were forced westward, so I moved along the border, while I sent out my flying Pokemon to move along with me in parallel so that we could cover a nearly 300 km span while moving to the west.
Since we were past the border, which meant that we were theoretically in the "wilderness", I made sure to distribute my Pokemon appropriately. Starting from me, the distance between each one of my Pokemon was about 27 km wide, which was easy for the two on each side of the Pokemon to cover in case one of them needed backup.
The first one was Mothra/Butterfree just in case we came across someone strong along the border, then came Optimus/Butterfree, followed by Saphira/Altaria, Kun/Azuraid, and Shino/Yanmega. Horus/Xatu followed to ensure that we had someone strong at the center.
After Horus came Hera/Pidgeot, followed by Prime/Beedrill, Parvati/Beedrill, Moka/Crobat, and finally Stan/Gyarados to have someone really strong finish/close up the "net". That was pretty much the "net" I spread out in hopes of catching sight of my targets.
I also kept Enji/Arcanine and Nyx/Umbreon by my side to avoid unnecessary conflicts since they were more intimidating for any wild Pokemon than I was.
Unfortunately, we failed to spot the Rhyhorn/Rhydon herd even after spending a total of 12 hours searching for them, in which we covered a distance of close to 500 km. Since the net we spread was 300 km wide, that meant we roughly checked an area of 150000 km².
Considering the fact that this area was actually the size of a decently sized country in my old life, we naturally were not as thorough in our search as we could have been.
However, I was certain that we would have noticed any Rhyhorn/Rhydon if we had come across any, and since we did not come to spot any mountains or hills within that range that the Rhyhorn/Rhydon could have been staying in, that meant that the herd I was looking for was not within the area I searched.
I did spot some Beedrill which I naturally checked upon since the Beedrill swarm I marked down fled northwestward, but sadly Parvati confirmed that the Beedrill I/we saw were not related to the swarm I was looking for, though surprisingly 7 of the 18 Beedrill we stopped decided to follow Parvati, so I placed them inside Utopia and moved them into Parvati and Prime's habitat.
The Beedrill swarm's whereabouts was what I looked into during the third Grouday, and since I already looked into the first 500 km west of the border camp's last confrontation point, I was able to skip that patch.
We still checked along the same 500 km stretch, just further down north of it starting from the place Stan had been checking. It took nearly the whole 6 hours, but we actually managed to come across a Beedrill that actually belonged to the swarm we were searching for.
Unfortunately, we had to postpone the possible capture/invitation of the swarm to next Grouday since I had to head back to the military camp. I naturally had Parvati and Prime invite the Beedrill inside Utopia so that it could act as a guide to the rest of its swarm, and they only had to apply some "gentle" persuasion before the Beedrill was willing to cooperate.
Since this was the final Grouday of the month, and the new month began on Dialday of the following week, the addition of the Beedrill swarm was left to the first Grouday of the 24th month, which was also my 5th month at the border camp.
By this point, there were no longer any lessons I had to join and the training I had to go through had leveled out as well. On the lesson's side, I had already satisfied all the conditions of the classes I had to attend, and I did not even have to attend the firearms class since I had fulfilled the condition to upgrade to the fourth firearm.
That one happened to be a high-caliber sniper rifle, but according to the teacher/soldier in charge of the class, I could not move on to that sniper rifle without actually enlisting in the army and becoming a full-fledged soldier.
The same was true for my shooting lessons, I was not allowed to move on to the sniper rifle there as well, so all I could do during shooting sessions was improve my already impressive aim with the "previous" three guns/firearms.
As for the physical training, Captain Stuart had given up increasing the difficulty of my training or trying to use me to push the other soldiers since even he had been forced to admit that it was extremely inhumane to expect the soldiers to keep up with an anomaly like me. Though he seemed to prefer to call me an abomination when he thought no one could hear him.
Once he stopped bothering me and told me to simply follow the exercise the others were doing, I used gravity bracelets to ensure that the exercise actually pushed me so that I could keep improving. I actually saw Mr. Stuart's dispirited look when I did that, and for some reason, the other soldiers were unusually motivated during the training session.
It was impressive just how disliked Mr. Stuart actually was among the soldiers, which probably was not that unusual among trainers in the military. Though his sadistic tendency probably did not help his case.
Anyway, by the start of the new month on Dialday, I was pretty sure that the next/last 2 months were going to be pretty boring if nothing changed, and I was really looking forward to my excursion on Grouday to spice up my week a bit.
As soon as I stepped out of the military camp on Grouday, I headed for the area where we took hold of the Beedrill from the 3-star horde that got destroyed. I called out Mothra and Horus to stay by my side before I let Beedrill out along with Parvati, Prime, and 30 of their strongest Beedrill subordinates.
We then followed the Beedrill to their supposed nest, and seeing how we came across 4 Beedrill squads consisting of 3-5 Beedrill within just 10 minutes, I'd say we were going in the right direction. Naturally, Parvati and her mini swarm were the ones that confronted those Beedrill squads.
3 of those squads ended up giving in pretty swiftly after being confronted by Parvati, and I moved them inside Utopia to Parvati's place until this assimilation matter was dealt with since I could not use them against their own swarm for multiple reasons.
Still, to me, their swift submission confirmed what the first Beedrill defector told us. Namely, that their swarm currently did not have a genuine Queen, just a regular leader, who happened to be the only gold stage Beedrill that survived the war 6 years ago. Though, it appeared that three more Beedrill broke through within the last 6 years, with neither of them challenging the leadership of the boss Beedrill.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Sadly, the fourth Beedrill squad did not follow the example of the previous three. Instead of surrendering, the four Beedrill did the exact opposite. 3 of them went all kamikaze on us trying to restrict us long enough for the fourth Beedrill to escape, presumably to run to the swarm to warn them of our approach.
Considering the number and strength difference that was obviously a futile attempt, but even after the 4th Beedrill was stopped and forced back to its 3 squad mates, the 4 Beedrill did not surrender. In fact, they all got even more ferocious, and to me, it seemed that they wanted to at least drag down a few of us before going down.
I was honestly surprised by their "to the death" attitude, and if not for our vastly superior might, we might have been forced to actually take them down permanently, but since our side was vastly superior, we managed to subdue them without unaliving them, despite their best effort of forcing us to do so.
Since I did not want to place them inside Utopia as they were, I pulled out 4 regular Pokeballs and captured them with those. After the successful capture, I switched the Pokeballs into stasis mode and stuck a piece of paper on each one that read "Frenzied Beedrill", before storing them away for now.
They might come around once the whole swarm got subdued. If they didn't I would have to think about what to do with them, but I was hoping that it would not come down to that.
Anyway, it took us another 10 minutes to reach the area around the Beedrill nest, and we actually started seeing some Weedle crawling around, which was not that surprising considering that it had been 6 years. Besides, we already had a rough idea of the swarm's current size thanks to Beedrill no.1. From the initial 1800 surviving Beedrill, a bit more than 1600 were still alive.
However, aside from them, there were around 350 new additions to their swarm, of which the majority was still Weedle or Kakuna, with only about a sixth having evolved to Beedrill. That meant that the swarm had close to 1700 Bedrill and close to 300 Kakuna/Weedle. Strength-wise, there were 5 gold stage Beedrill, roughly 500 silver stage Breedill, and over 1100 bronze stage Beedrill.
It was a sizeable force, and the reason why so many of their initial number survived, even if their swarm was no threat to our group at all. Still, I wanted to see if we could take over the swarm with as little fighting as possible.
For that, I would first send Parvati, Prime, and their subordinates to the forefront to see if the presence of a royal Beedrill that was stronger than all of their strongest members, including their leader, would be enough to tempt them into joining without a fight.
Since sending out just the 32 Beedrill on our side to confront a swarm of close to 1700 was a bit foolish, I brought out the rest of Parvati and Prime's subordinate Beedrill, which raised their total number to 101, which was still significantly less, but still much better than before.
Especially since 3 of those additional subordinates were at the (low) gold stage, which actually made the high combat power on our side superior to theirs. Along with the fact that 68 out of the leftover Beedrill were at the (high) silver stage, our 101-bee-strong company was impressive enough.
Anyway, once we made it to the nest, Mothra, Horus and I stayed at the back and allowed Parvati as well as her group to be at the front since this was their show. Our arrival naturally attracted the attention of the Beedrill at the nest. We were able to hear a discontent and angry buzz coming from them.
Nonetheless, some of the buzzes changed once Parvati flew to the forefront of her company, appearing in front of all the "wild" Beedrill. Her appearance caused a not-too-little part of the Beedrill to be pleasantly surprised at the appearance of a royal Beedrill, which showed that actual royalty still held a rather important position in their minds.
Nonetheless, more than half of the swarm still dislike their nest being invaded like this, so they gather in front of Parvati and her group. Since the other side had significantly more Beedrill, the swarm on the other side grew with each passing moment.
Yet, Parvati did nothing. She let them crowd together, while she waited for the current swarm leader and the other gold stage Beedrill to appear. A minute or so later, the leader made his presence known by flying to the front of his swarm with his (mid) gold stage might on full display, accompanied by all 4 (low) gold stage Beedrill.
Only then did Parvati flare her full strength, demonstrating her (high) gold-stage power, and upon her signal Prime released his (mid) gold-stage might, while the 3 golden Beedrill displayed their (low) gold-stage might. Our side's aura began to overpower the other side's momentum, which caused the swarm behind the other side to buzz in agitation.
