HEARTLESS

Some people will hurt you and then act like you hurt them.

Drustan kept his words and let go of Madissa's face, he didn't intend to come in contact with this creature for a little bit longer.

"If you think this is over, you are totally wrong!" Madissa screamed. She hated it when Drustan walked away from her, and then it happened every time she met him, thus she shouldn't have been surprised by now, yet she was still holding a grudge toward that man.

The more you found something hard to get, the more you wanted it, that was what the Madissa line of thought.

Meanwhile, Apple kept looking back to see the woman named Madissa, but on her third attempt, she had disappeared along with the dead bodies of all the monkers.

"What is she?" Apple asked Drustan. She tilted her head, but the man kept walking toward the busy streets. It seemed he had dropped the idea of leaving Apple alone. "Will she come again?"

Drustan still didn't say anything, but this time, Apple knew to keep her mouth shut and kept walking while the man was holding her hand. Well, this gesture made her content, though he still refused to say anything to her.

"Where are we going?" Apple asked when they walked across the street.

"Walk you home," he replied curtly and stopped the taxi.

==============

"What are you doing? Go inside. Hurry. So we can go home," Kama grumbled and then yawned when he saw Apple still standing in front of her house, holding onto Drustan's jacket.

They had gotten off the taxi a few minutes ago, but Apple was still reluctant to part with Drustan, since she didn't know when they would meet again. Would she wait for another five years only to see him again?

Or maybe she needed to hope something bad happened that would make them meet with each other because the two encounters that they had were in a similar situation.

Ignoring the werewolf's word, Apple looked at Drustan. "Will we meet again?" she asked softly, expectantly. Her life sucked and knowing there was another world that was filled with a lot of horrible creatures didn't make her feel better, but meeting this man was a totally different case. She felt oddly attached to him.

Even though Apple was sure this man didn't feel the same thing, since the only matter that interested him was the golden dust that healed him faster at that time.

"Let's hope for the best," Drustan said and then stretched out her hand to touch Apple's neck, caressing the wound that was inflicted by Madissa. The bleeding had stopped, but it would leave an ugly scar for a few days.

However, it seemed Apple didn't need to have any concern regarding the scar, because as Drustan wiped the skin, the wound disappeared. This was the second time he healed her.

"Thank you," Apple said when she realized what Drustan had done. Actually, the word 'thank you', couldn't describe what she felt toward him. She wanted to be with him and that was what she said. "Can I be with you?"

Kama was coughing hard when he heard this. "Girl, you are not the only woman who wants to be with him, but we don't take a girl into our boat, so forget it."

Apple threw him a nasty glare upon hearing that statement.

"I can help you with everything." She tried to make herself more valuable. "I can cook, wash your clothes, clean your place…" She named all the things that she could do and offer. "…I can even help you to figure out what the gold dust is."

"What golden dust?" Kama asked, but no one wanted to answer him. Actually, they paid no attention to the werewolf.

"Can I go with you? I don't want to go home," she pleaded again. She was very reluctant to come into this house because she knew what was waiting for her inside.

Yet, instead of answering her plea, Drustan just simply disappeared before her eyes and this caught Apple by surprise. She was still holding onto his jacket, but in the next second, she held nothing. Only empty air.

"Heartless," Kama murmured to himself when he saw the disappointment in Apple's green eyes. She looked like she was about to cry and Kama didn't want to be there when the girl snorted and sobbed. "I think that is his answer."

Only then Apple shifted her attention toward Kama and was about to approach him, but he already shifted into his black wolf and jumped over her head and disappeared into the dark night, leaving Apple alone, standing in front of the house that she didn't want to enter.

Apple bit her lips, to prevent herself from crying, taking a deep breath, and turned around to push the gate open. This gate felt really heavy, or was it her heart?

Apple gritted her teeth when she received the hard slap from Marry, Cherry's mother.

Meanwhile, Cherry and her brother, Brian, were sitting in front of the television, yet their focus was on Apple, as the scene was more interesting than any television show.

Apple stumbled when she received that hard blow, but she managed to grab onto the edge of the table to hold herself from falling.

"How dare you invite a man into this house!?" Marry screamed at the top of her lungs.

Apple didn't know what kind of story that Cherry had told Marry, but whatever it was, she didn't have any intention to correct it, as it would be a waste of breath. Marry wouldn't trust her word over her daughter's anyway, so why should she try?

"You little slut! Do you think this is your home?!"

Here, she goes again with that line.

No matter how many times Apple reminded her shameless aunt about the money that she used to buy this place, her stupid brain seemed couldn't process it.
