Damon watched Xierra bled in his arms, she closed her eyes as if she was sleeping, but he knew better than that.

With a shaking hand, the protector tried to shake her body lightly, in the hope she would give him some reaction and calm the storm inside of him.

However, no matter how long Damon did that, Xierra never gave the response that he wanted. No. She couldn't respond to him anymore like she used to.

The realization came to him so hard, like a poison in his vein that killed him from inside, knowing that he had failed his duty as the protector and also lost the woman that he had been protecting for years.

How could this be possible? What went wrong? Should he insist on her staying in Duvessa, the headquarters of all the Kairi? He could do more. He must have done more to protect her and didn't take the prophecy lightly.

A muffled growl escaped his lips when he clutched his chest. It almost felt like someone stabbed him with a dull blade and twisted it viciously.

This was the first time for Damon to experience such pain that left him breathless. This excruciating pain sent his whole system into a mess and his mind haywire.

He tried to remember what was wrong and what he could do to prevent this, but the sight of Xierra's lifeless body kept reminding him that it did not matter anymore. He lost her.

"What is happening?" All the protectors swarmed the room and looked around them until they found Kairi's bloody body in Damon's arms and they started trying to call the hospital or find any help possible to bring her back.

However, it was too late, the proof that they could enter the room was enough to say that she had gone along with the spell that bound them.

"Let me check her," one of the protectors said, as he tried to touch Xierra, yet Damon glared at him viciously, a murderous intention emanating from his whole body that made the man freeze in his place.

"Don't touch her." The voice that came from his throat was not like him at all. It was more like a deep, low growl, like a wounded animal.

It made the protector before his eyes shuddered involuntarily. He tried to open his mouth to give a reason for his action but found himself speechless. He knew that he was not allowed to touch the Kairi, but this situation was different and Damon just sat there doing nothing.

Meanwhile, Damon couldn't find in him a will to take control of this situation or think about what would happen to him after this, because he was too focused on the pain, that numbing pain that he felt, yet in the next second, Damon could feel something crept beneath his skin, something dark that offered comfort. It tempted him to give up and let go of everything.

Damon closed his eyes, hesitating to welcome the offer…

"Damon, we need to move her," one of the protectors said to him, but he replied with Damon strangling his neck.

"Da… mon…" he said breathlessly, while the other protectors, who saw this immediately came to their friend's rescue.

However, they couldn't make Damon budge at all. He seemed possessed by something that made him very powerful.

Meanwhile, the man's eyes had rolled to the back of his head, as he couldn't breathe and it felt like his head was about to burst. This would be a painful death.

"Damon, you will kill him!!" the other protector shouted at him, but what greeted them was Damon's black eyes. So dark that they thought they were looking into a demon's eyes.

"What is this?!" Panic crept into their system.

In this kind of situation, Damon should be the one who led them, but he seemed to be possessed by something evil.

"Damon!!!" one of them drew their dagger and was about to stab him, not to kill him, but to make him snap out of whatever was inside of him.

But, before he could do that, someone dashed into the room very fast and hit Damon's head very hard with the nearby flower vase until it shattered into a million pieces.

Blood was gushing out from the wound on Damon's head as he loosened his grip on the other protector's neck and lost consciousness.

"What?!" All of them were shocked silly, but when they saw who had done that, they could breathe more relaxed.

"Raphael," all of them greeted him.

"Bring Kairi to the car and go to the hospital, the other protectors are outside. Two of you stay with me," he gave a command calmly and took control of the situation while holding Damon's head and pressed his hand on his wound to stop the bleeding. "Zen will be there when you reach the hospital. Following his instructions."

All of them bowed their heads and carried out the command.

Meanwhile, Raphael could only watch Xierra's lifeless body with gritted teeth. He was too late. And then shifted his attention toward Damon. He almost didn't make it in time for him too…

"We found a donor for Tarsa, but…" the doctor looked hesitant when he spoke about this news, he was conflicted, as the two of them were the prominent figures in this country. "This is the heart of Kairi," He finally relayed the information.

He felt restless, knowing how the things unfolded. However, wasn't this supposed to be a good thing? The Kairi existed to help people, saving their life and if she could save one more life even when she died, wasn't that what she wanted?

"Do it then," Claire didn't think twice when she said that. No matter who this person was, as if they could save her daughter's life then be it.

"Members of Duvessa will not accept this," the doctor said worriedly.
