MY SWORD COULDN'T CUT HER

Tarsa didn't know why, but instead of being scared of him, she felt safer when with him.

Once again she glanced at the man named Damon, who was holding her body tightly, pulled her closer to him when they walked along the corridor to the front yard of the building, where all the military and the government staff were gathered there, but Tarsa couldn't find her parents.

"Where will they take my parents?" Tarsa raised her head and looked at Damon, but like before, the man refused to see him right in the eyes as if he hated her to the bone, yet he wouldn't let her go.

And the way Damon spoke to Amaro, as though she mattered to him, because of Kairi Xierra's heart.

Tarsa couldn't understand the situation and she failed to read what Damon really wanted. Did he want to kill her? Or…

"Get in," Damon said coldly, as he opened the car door and let Tarsa slip in. He also put his hand over her head protectively, so she wouldn't bump onto the frame door.

Meanwhile, Amaro, who followed him from behind, could only crease his brows in confusion with the way Damon treated Tarsa.

Why would he want to protect her?

Knowing the ninety-seventh Kairi's temperament and how dear Kairi Xierra is to her, he wouldn't be surprised if she sentenced the president's family to death. It was her right to give the highest punishment after all because one couldn't make the pact with the Duvessa lightly.

This would also set their stand, so no one would disparage their value as an ancient society.

However, the way Damon treated the girl was slightly odd.

"Sir Raphael wanted to talk to you, sir," one of the protectors from the front seat handed him the phone, as the car's engine started to hum softly and they left the government area, back to the headquarters of Duvessa.

"What is it, Raphael?" Amaro looked at the car beside him, where Damon and Tarsa were.

==============

"Once we are in Duvessa, don't say anything," Damon said sternly to Tarsa. He still refused to see the girl beside him, though he kept her closer. "Understand?"

Tarsa didn't answer that, she just kept staring at Damon with her big brown eyes.

Because Tarsa didn't answer him and he started to get annoyed by the way she looked at him, Damon turned around to see her curious eyes. "Understand?"

"May I know why?" Tarsa gathered her courage to ask this. Damon was scared, but she wasn't scared of him. Was that confusing enough? "I thought you were going to kill me, but why do I feel like you are protecting me?" she asked out of curiosity.

It was not something that was said out loud, but Tarsa could feel it. The feeling of being protected, despite his coldness.

Damon didn't answer that immediately, he stared at Tarsa's eyes, but felt his heart ached because the eyes that looked back at him were not her eyes, thus he avoided her once again while saying, "Killing you was my intention."

Tarsa bit her lips. "Was? What do you mean?" Does it mean he didn't want to kill her again?

"I want to make sure of something," Damon muttered, he then placed his focus on the empty night road, while the cars of the members of Duvessa flanked their cars on the left and right sides.

"What is it?" Tarsa's question was not answered by another question after that.

Hence, since Damon kept quiet, Tarsa also didn't say anything anymore and silence engulfed them on their way back to Duvessa.

Both of them were busy with their own thoughts.

==============

"YOU!" Kairi Ariana vented out her anger by rewarding a harsh slap to Damon's cheek and no one stopped her, as nobody dared to say anything at that moment.

Even Raphael couldn't do much. He stayed beside Ariana and frowned when he watched how stubborn Damon did not show any sign of repentance.

"What do you think you are doing?!" Kairi Ariana's voice echoed throughout the hall and this made Tarsa creep closer toward Damon. "How dare you disobey my words!"

Out there, the rain poured down heavily as lightning and thunder shook the ground. They could hear it in this big hall.

Aside from Tarsa and Damon, also Kairi Ariana and Raphael, there was Amaro and all the members of Duvessa, including the protectors and retainers, they were watching and this made Tarsa more nervous. She had never been in the center of attention in her whole life, though she was the daughter of the president.

Because of her poor health, she rarely made an appearance in front of the screen.

"You are the worst protector that I have ever seen!" Her body was shaking because of the wave of emotions that she felt. "You let the Kairi that you should protect die! You disobeyed my words and you decided on your own despite knowing that you don't have a say in it! What do you want to do?! Answer me!"

"I want to kill her because she took her heart," Damon answered truthfully.

His answer shocked everyone present, including Tarsa. She moved slightly away from him, though they had talked about it when they were inside the car, but to hear it out loud was enough to make her uncomfortable.

"I see she is still alive," Ariana said through her gritted teeth. Those are inappropriate and impudent words.

"This girl has Kairi Xierra's spiritual power," Damon finally spoke, he raised his head and looked at Ariana straight in her eyes.

Ariana scoffed at that statement. "Do you want to say that she is the next Kairi? What is the basis for your claim?"

"My sword couldn't cut her." Damon had all the intention to stab Tarsa earlier, he didn't intend to hold back at all, but the wind sword just disappeared.

"You couldn't cut her?" Ariana asked him cynically. "Then let Raphael do it."
