Chapter 42

'We all make mistakes. The consequences decide if they are worth it.'

Emma patted her face – refusing to meet anyone, shooing away the servants of this new place. She continued to stay in her room, and Emma scribbled down all she could remember from the novel 'Heart of Moss' by one of her favourite authors.

She had read this book many times over. It was a novel that she could not have put down as it had provided her great comfort in her lonelier times. She had read it as often as she could, second to 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' by Betty Smith.

The only times she had let a person come into contact with her was through the provision of necessities, such as food, drink, bathing and a change of clothes.
