Underworld Negotiations IV

Sona was scared for her people and, based on Grayfia's way of acting, the silver haired maid seemed to share many of her her thoughts while knowing much more than her which only further cemented the young devil's views.

And so, the Sitri heiress decided to take a course of action she would normally never take . . . She elected to contact her older sister.

While she was gathering tat resolve however, Grayfia had already returned to Sirzechs' side so as to explain how things went.

"You're back. How was Haikami Jun's reaction?" Sirzechs asked, completely unaware of how awry things actually went.

The silver haired maid stood before her master and husband with a serious, even grim face, before taking a deep breath and organizing things in her mind so as to give out a coherent and detailed explanation of how wrong everything went.

The crimson haired Satan instantly realized Grayfia's news were not at all going to be anything expected and certainly not in a good way at that.

Being a smart man in his own right, he immediately figured out his hidden intentions might have been sniffed out and prepared himself to hear the worst case scenario from his wife.

However, as the silver haired maid gave him a recounting of events, he realized things went so much off rail that none of his projected scenarios, be it the ones he though likely or highly improbable, came close to what actually went down.

Hearing of Jun's decisions and even more importantly, the attitude and general aura he gave while making them, let Sirzechs realize he heavily misunderstood who he was dealing with and now, he had a fallout to deal with, an incredibly big one too unfortunately.

Seeing her husband deep in thought, Grayfia interjected with a question.

"Why did you not give it to be straight?" The silver haired maid questioned.

"I was trying to prevent Haikami Jun from figuring out my intentions as you you've no doubt realized already. Though it seems I still majorly underestimated him." Sirzechs replied.

"You should have still told me." Grayfia insisted.

"Why?" Sirzechs looked up and questioned.

"So I could advise you on how poor the idea actually was." The silçver haired maid spat out the harsh truth.

Sirzechs sighed.

"In hindsight . . . You're right." He ceded and his wife sighed as well.

Both of them knew there was more to it. Sirzechs feared Jun's uncanny ability to obtain the trust and cooperation of others, the aura and charisma that surrounded his entire being.

Making his wife the liaison between the two of them was so he could be sure he would not be betrayed but instead, it ended up with him planting the seeds of doubt in his own mind.

Sirzechs never considered Grayfia would do anything even remotely resembling betrayal but he certainly believed she had taken enough of a liking to Jun so as to oppose any plan that would involve taking action against him, whether that was in a physical sense or not.

He was right to an extent as well but even then, having closer contact with Jun and even growing to like him a bit gave Grayfia insight her husband lacked, enough to know how bad the Satan's plan was and inform him of it should he have trusted her enough to share it with her.

Still, neither husband nor wife elected to pursue that avenue of thought any further since they had more critical official matters in their hands, matters that could affect the future of their entire race.

"So what are you thinking of doing, Sirzechs-sama?" Grayfia inquired.

"It will be tough to make those old things swallow it but I'll have to enforce respect for the coming delegation, the highest I can." Sirzechs replied.

"It will be a loss of face since we will be literally bending before Haikami Jun's pressure but based on his attitude, confidence and knowledge, it is still preferable to the alternative." He added.

"Making sure to gather all the representatives backfired completely. It was a move to give Jun-sama pressure to cave in to our side's demands but now that pressure is on us to control them." Grayfia gave an additional commented.

"No doubt this cruel irony is a planned part of Haikami Jun's stern, threat laced warning." Sirzechs said in response to his wife's comment.

*sigh* He sighed again.

"Even if appeasement is plan A, we have to be ready in case things still go wrong. It is going to be hard to keep everyone in line and if that wife of his is going to be looking for any excuse, odds are negotiations will break down." Sirzechs pointed out.

"I agree." Grayfia sighed in return, the situation was making sighing a common sigh between the two of them.

"Did he make any mention of an entourage for his wife?" The crimson haired Satan then asked.

"He did not but I'm sure he would not send her alone. Regardless of her power, it is a matter of status. It would look bad if he sent out his wife alone into possibly hostile territory." Grayfia replied.

"You're probably right." Her husband agreed with her assessment.

"Do you hav-" Sirzechs was interrupted by a sudden message from one of his peers.

Apparently, Serafall Leviathan needed to speak with him urgently and, considering the current state of affairs, the reasons for this were quite apparent.

Going back some time, while Grayfia and Sirzechs were still in the beginning of their conversation, Sona had called her sister to discuss the unfortunate turn of events with her.
