JUST THE FIRST STEP

It was early in the morning and some people were currently going to work, to school and some were going back home from a night shift.

One of Sofia's men slipped inside Nivel Hills Subdivision without any problem and looked for the right house to send the letter. As soon as he found House #19, he placed the envelope inside the mailbox and left in a flash just like how he got inside. They're like phantoms; working silently and very quickly without anyone noticing them at all.

"Yaya, can you get me the mails? I need to see if there's anything important in them. Bring them inside my room please." Suzy, the current mistress of the house called for the helper. After she threw Sofia to who-knows-where, she fired all the previous helpers, guards and butler. She chased the all out and replaced them with the people who didn't know anything about the previous owner of the house.

She burned all the belongings that Sofia's family owned, leaving not a single trace of their existence at home. Right now, she occupies the huge mansion with her lovely daughter and her lover.

The servant immediately went out to get the mails and went back inside to bring them inside her room. She didn't want to open anything in the living room knowing how many secrets she's been keeping to herself. Not even her daughter knows anything.

"Good morning, mommy." Irene was walking downstairs in her school uniform, looking so pretty at the very young age.

"Good morning, sweetheart. Breakfast is ready so go and eat in order for you not to be late."

"Aren't you eating with me? Where's daddy?"

"Your dad left early to deal with some business matters. But don't worry, I'll be joining you for breakfast."

"Okay."

The mother-daughter pair went to the dining area to eat their breakfast. And this morning once again, Irene was spacing out. He always felt that she used to eat with someone during breakfast which was why she was trying to get the same feeling by asking her parents to eat with her.

"Stop spacing out." Suzy snapped her fingers in front of her daughter to get her back to earth. "Eat your food or they'll become cold."

"Mommy, I…don't I really have a sister?"

"What are you saying again? You don't have a sister but you do have a cousin. She used to come here when she was young but her family left the country after your grandparents died. I haven't heard anything from them anymore."

"Don't they like us anymore? Why aren't they contacting us?"

"It's not that they hate us, honey. But maybe, they just don't want to recall any painful memories from this country. I'll ask your father to contact them for you."

"Okay."

Irene nodded her head and even though she was still gloomy, she ate her food and finished them without leaving a grain of rice. She remembered her father telling him not to leave anything on her plate and up until now, she had never forgotten this thing. But she had no idea that the father she has been spending time now wasn't the same person that she has in mind.

After breakfast, she left the house to go to school. A driver will send her there and will also pick her up after class. She's not allowed to wander around after class because she's known to be rich. She might get abducted by bad people. So, her routine was home-school-and-back at home. She can play games at night and chat with her friends but she can't go out.

She didn't really mind it though because she knew that it was for her own good.

Once her daughter left, Suzy went back to her room to open the mails that she received. There were billing statements and other things written for Oliver.

To her surprise, she found an envelope which was specifically addressed to her. Suzy opened the envelope and what greeted her made her face paled.

It was something that shouldn't be known to the public. Her hands trembled as she picked the picture from the floor, trying to see if she was really seeing the right thing or if it was just her imagination born from guilt.

In the picture, she was having an affair with Oliver's younger brother, who became her lover now. In fact, they were lovers even before she became Oliver's second wife. Approaching him was part of their plan to bring his family down. She didn't really love him but she had to make sacrifices using her body.

And now, someone got hold of this evidence which surprised her the most.

She checked the envelope if there was anything else but there was nothing. "This is bad. This is bad." She muttered to herself while dialing Melbon's number, her lover and the younger brother of her husband. She was about to hit the call button when she flipped the picture and found a printed message pasted at the bad.

'I've come back to get back everything that belongs to me. So, I hope you're all prepare.'

Suzy was so frightened that her eyes rolled back and she fainted on the spot without anyone's notice.

"Young madam, I sent the envelope already." The man who was entrusted to send the envelope called Sofia to inform her.

"Good. You can go back to the mansion for now. Let's give them time to panic and worry for their lives." Sofia ended the call with a smirk on her lips. "It's just the first step. Let's see how long you can survive from me."
