Chapter 56

It would be later that day as the gang were eating together, while Iris looked troubled. She was having flashes of her past of her being a slave as she served Kanika.

"Hey, Iris?" Said Scarlet.

"Huh? Y-Yes?" Iris responded.

"You okay?" Scarlet asked.

"Mm-hmm." Iris nodded.

"You sure? You haven't eaten from your plate." Said Scarlet.

"Mm." Iris replied.

"Aw, man. I really needed this burger." Said Franklin.

"I know. The Shack makes the best burgers ever!" Said Marcus.

Jasper suddenly got a text message from his sister as she need him for something.

"Hey, guys. I'll be back. My sister needs me for something. I won't take long." Said Jasper.

"Are you going to eat that?" Franklin and Marcus asked.

"Nah, go ahead." Said Jasper.

Marcus and Franklin looked at each other as they fought over his burger.

"I got twenty on Franklin. Oh, well, would you look at that. Jasper forgot his wallet. I wonder how much he has right now." Said Violet as she grabbed it.

"He did? Here, I'll take it to him." Said Scarlet as she yanked it away from Violet.

"C'mon, Scarlet. I wasn't going to take anything. I wanted to see if he had any pictures in there." Said Violet.

"I'll be back in a jiffy." Said Scarlet as she left.

"Hey, I win!" Franklin shouted as he had the burger.

We see Jasper arriving in front at the amusement park area of the campus as he saw Alejandra dressed up for a date as she ran to him.

"Jasper! Thanks for coming!" Said Alejandra.

"Sure, what was it that you need?" Jasper asked.

"I hate to ask. But can I borrow some money?" Alejandra asked.

"What for?" Jasper asked.

"I'm…on a date." Said Alejandra.

"With who?" Jasper asked.

"You won't believe me. But he's one of the students from San Teresa. And he's part of the games. His name is Cadmael Canul. He's pretty hot." Said Alejandra.

"I see you haven't changed. When are you going to grow up and stopping going out on dates. You should be thinking about your future." Said Jasper.

"Ugh, you sound like ma and papa. And I'm on vacation." Said Alejandra.

"That doesn't mean anything. And they have they're reason. They slave their asses off for us. And for you since they told me that you've been borrowing money from them." Said Jasper.

"Yeah, but only a few bucks. So why don't you mind your business." Said Alejandra.

"It may be a few bucks but imagine all the times you ask. Now think how much that is in total, Ale?" Jasper asked.

"A lot, I know! Don't treat me like I'm stupid." Said Alejandra.

"Then don't act stupid! You never think about your actions! Always wearing that crap and letting guys look at you that way!" Said Jasper.

"I like dressing this way! And don't talk to me like you're our parents. And don't talk to me about never thinking of my actions! At least I didn't put our parents in debt after what you said to Andres that made him…" Alejandra yelled as paused.

They both fell silent as Alejandra's eyes were watery, while Jasper had a sad and shameful look as he looked to his side. Scarlet was nearby as she and many others heard them yelling.

"Go ahead…finish that sentence, Ale." Said Jasper.

But she kept quiet as Jasper stepped close to her he kept the same look on his face.

"Say it. Say that I made Andres kill himself." Said Jasper.

But she didn't say anything as Jasper walked away from her and moved forward. Alejandra started to sob quietly to herself as Scarlet approached her and gave her tissue.

"If I were you, I'd go somewhere private. I'll check on Jasper." Said Scarlet.

"Wait, you're…" Said Alejandra as she watched Scarlet leave.

"Alejandra? Are you okay?" Cadmael asked as he was dressed up.

"Uh, yeah. I…I had a conversation with my brother. We argued." Said Alejandra.

Jasper turned intangible and floated up to the roof of a nearby building. He changed back to normal as he put his hood over his head and sat down against the ledge. He sat quietly as he put his hands on his face and sighed out his frustration. We see Scarlet use levitation magic to reach the roof as she landed on the roof and saw Jasper looking devastated.

"Uh, hey." Said Scarlet as she approached him.

"Were you there to see the show? If we spoke in Spanish, I'd look like a scene straight out of a Telenovela." Said Jasper.

"I bet it would." Said Scarlet.

She then sat down next to Jasper as she leaned against him as her head was on his arm.

"You don't have to be here, Scarlet. I'm used to dealing with this alone." Said Jasper.

"But that's why I'm not leaving. You're not the only one who blames their self for someone's death." Said Scarlet.

Jasper looked at Scarlet as she took off her hat and played with it.

"I descend from witches who come from Vanaheim, in the Nordic region. My mother is from there and she came from a family who were known to have large mana reserves in their bodies. But she was born with small reserves. Making it difficult for her to use magic constantly. But because of that, she wasn't obligated to become a witch. She ended up cooking and loved it. She even went to culinary school and that's where she met my dad. They became good friends, fell in love and as time passed; they had me." Said Scarlet.

"They're little strawberry." Said Jasper with a faint smile.

"Shut up! Only they can call me that! And I'm telling you a story so don't interrupt me!" Scarlet yelled embarrassed.

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry." Said Jasper.

"Anyway, where was I. Oh, right. I was born with large mana reserves. Large than any one in my family has ever had. Which meant I had the potential to learn almost any types of magic in the world. So my parents sent me to a private all girl's school for witches. I became popular as I quickly became one of their best students. And that's where I meet…my first friend, Adriana." Said Scarlet.

"Adriana? Huh, she has the same name as…" Said Jasper as he paused.

"The black witch that's been helping Richard…is the same girl who was my first best friend." Said Scarlet.

Jasper stood surprise, while Scarlet looked ashamed and saw as Jasper placed his hand around her shoulder to comfort her.

"You don't have to keep telling more. It was brave and nice of you to open up to me. It must have been a tough time for you." Said Jasper as Scarlet looked at him.

"Y-Yeah. You took the words out of my mouth." Said Scarlet.

"I guess it's my turn, then." Said Jasper.

"You don't have to tell me." Said Scarlet.

"It's fine. I'll just tell you a part of my past to be even. Sounds good?" Said Jasper.

"If you say so." Said Scarlet.

"I had an older brother. And I'm sure after my argument with my sister, you can figure out what happened to him. He was passionate about paranormal studies. He was a college student and he wanted to figure out how ghost work as well as ectoplasm. Tiffany, the girl who injured me, was his girlfriend. She was a bit of an unstable girl, but my brother was the only person was able to keep her calm. She was crazy for him too. Until the accident happened and I gained my ghost abilities. And I went through my own personal hell. At the time, I blamed him. And my words got to him and he just…" Said Jasper he stopped.

"You blame yourself for what happened too? We have another thing in common again." Said Scarlet with a faint smile.

"Yeah." Jasper replied.

Scarlet moved closer to Jasper as she hugged his arm, while he leaned his head on her head. Meanwhile, we see Adele with the gang as she was just introducing herself to them.

"My grandmother, everyone!" Said Violet.

"She doesn't look like a grandmother; I can tell you that." Said Garry.

"Thank you. A perk from being a vampire." Said Adele.

"So only you came? What about your other family members?" Marcus asked.

"They're all busy. But they do wish the best for our, Viola." Said Adele as she pinched Violet's cheek.

"Adele, stop." Said Violet bashful.

"I don't mean to be nosy. But are you alright, dear? You seem distracted." Said Adele to Iris.

"Uh, I'm fine." Said Iris.

"Oh, I have to use the bathroom. Iris, come with me." Said Violet as she dragged away.

"Uh, okay." Iris responded as she left with her.

"I thought vampires don't use the bathroom." Said Marcus.

"Maybe it's for makeup. But she's doesn't wear any." Said Adele.

"She doesn't!?" Garry responded.

"Nope. But that girl has always been odd ever since she's been little." Said Adele.

"That's no surprise." Said Franklin.

"(Drools) And my, you boys are quiet healthy looking. Apologizes, I tend to speak my mind whenever I see people who have good blood." Said Adele as she wipes the drool away with a handkerchief.

"Even though, they're not related by blood. She's definitely Violet's grandmother." Said Marcus.

We see Violet and Iris stop in front of a nearby bathroom and talk.

"Is everything okay? You haven't been acting like yourself." Said Violet.

"I'm fine." Said Iris.

"Oh, Iris. Strong, beautiful…Iris." Said Violet as she brushed Iris's hair.

"Thanks?" Iris replied.

"You may be good at being silent. But you're terrible at hiding your feelings. Your face says it all." Said Violet.

"No, I'm not." Said Iris with an cute, embarrassed look.

"Iris, it's okay. You can talk to me. And Scarlet. Where is that girl?" Violet asked as she looked around.

"Jasper's wallet." Said Iris.

"Oh, right. But you have us gals. We have each other's back. So talk to me." Said Violet as Iris looked hesitant.

"I saw someone…who hurt me in my past." Said Iris, angry.

"Okay, I didn't expect that. But who is this bitch!? I'll kick her ass! No one messes with my girl!" Said Violet.

"Kanika. She was my master." Said Iris.

"Master? But you're older than me. How is that possible?" Violet asked.

"I don't know. But it was her. I know it." Said Iris as she was shaking.

Violet held her hand as she smiled at her to help her feel at ease.

"You'll be alright, Iris. You got us. And if she shows her fugly face around. I'll make her regret being mean to you!" Said Violet.

"Thanks, Violet." Said Iris with a smile.
