Chapter - II (Dream)

"Princess Nyx" The princess' name echoed in the entire court of Quinsley kingdom. After being called multiple times by her father, she finally graced him by her presence nonchalantly.

"What I am hearing Royal Princess, you have been find guilty of the death of the soldiers."

In the stillness of the night, amidst the tempestuous rain, the echoes of her name resonated through the hollow of her being. Amidst the thundering clouds, she stifled a yawn, unladylike in its demeanor. Her father, beyond frustrated by her aloofness, inhaled deeply, seeking solace in the certainty that she would soon comprehend the gravity of the situation. As the rain continued to pour, her father prayed for her to act rightly and embrace her role with the utmost sincerity. she said already getting bored by the conversation "Father, I did nothing wrong, I only killed the traitors."

"Those weren't the traitors" He retorted.

"Well, I killed them in self-defence" she idly said and started blowing on her finger's nails.

"This conversation is getting nowhere, Nyx, those are Stygian Empire's Soldiers and they have been sent for your," He pointed forefinger at her in anger and his sound reached few octaves higher than normal "specifically for your protection. They mean no harm to you and no they are not the threat to our kingdom, we have already discussed this before, but no, you are just a notorious and disgrace to our kingdom." King Bowan said sternly emphasizing his 'no', 'nots' and 'yours'.

"This is the last time I'm covering your futile excuses; you are lucky that emperor still see you as family." He dismissed her and dejected angrily at her.

She cursed the emperor 'I don't need that monster's protection' under her breath, as soon as she reached her chamber premise, her handmaiden opened the door for her.

"I'm no longer permitted to serve you, your royal highness" she bowed in fear, yet she could feel the immense surge of happiness in her veins. Nyx wasn't unaware of her handmaiden's zeal, she chuckled darkly, she knew her handmaiden had enough of her mercy, and she wanted to run away as quickly as possible.

'Like I need an assistance of a coward woman' She raised her eyebrows in repulsion and spoke.

"Let me warn you on about something, as you have served me for longer than necessary, longer than you wanted".

Her voice had turned cold. She smirked and walked towards her dressing table only to take out the black scabbard from which she drew her sword out, which she had been hid safely behind the black curtains of her chamber. She still had hidden weapons secured in her chamber. Her handmaid knew she was good at hiding her emotions to her next move, she was unpredictable, and she knew her more than necessary so how she could let her fly away that easily from her grasp. Seeing her mistress took out her sword wasn't a good sign; chill ran down her spine, there was this raw fear building in her eyes. Her handmaid Realized that she had been exposed and it was far better to stay calm rather running away, she did not want to instigate her.

But little did she know that she (her mistress) was already brimming up for her in anger.

"What they offered you, the title of next lady-in-waiting, now you will wait for eternity. This is the game two can play" 'if she would end another traitor, she would be more than just satisfied' she thought and before the handmaiden could made any move. she sliced her neck in a one go, blood splashed out covering her face.
