Chapter Forty-Seven

Alex

"Baby, I'm at the airport already, I just arrived though." my mum said happily through the phone. She already told me she was coming over and even while I was so busy with the pile of work on my desk, my mind kept drifting off to how my mum would see Suzy and how they will relate seeing how weird my mum can be sometimes. I told Suzy about her visit and I also told my mum that Suzy was my girlfriend so that they won't be awkward towards each other.

My mum was usually free-spirited and I hoped she'll get to like Suzy because she is the total opposite of Julie and Julie was so uptight and mostly quiet that's why she and my mum were never compatible.

After I answered her call I texted Suzy to tell her that I and my mum will be coming back soon then I drove to the airport to see her.

I arrived a bit later than I planned because of the traffic jam that I met on my way to the airport. I looked around to see if I could find her. At this point I know she would be doing something, sitting and waiting was one thing my mum will not do. So I dialed her number while I continued my search so that I could tell her that I was already at the airport.

"I went to eat darling, I was so hungry, I couldn't help it. Wait for me let me get some snacks instead," she said as she picked up the call then I sat down to wait.

She came out with her beautiful brown hair and a shy blue flowing gown that made her look younger, with her bright red lips, typical of my mum. She smiled as she saw me because I walked up to her immediately I saw her.

"Xander honey, you look great. Better than the last time I saw you," she said as she kissed my cheeks then I took her bag from her and laughed.

"You don't look bad yourself, and what's with the glow? I don't know if it's just me but you seem to be excited about something and I know it's not just because you get to see me or Kasey." I said as we walked to the parking lot.

"Oh Xander, will you ever change? I'm excited to see you and I can't wait to see Kasey and your new girlfriend. I think it's enough to get me excited don't you think?" she said then she entered the car. I just smiled and closed the door then I put her back in the car trunk then I drove out.

"You look good, I bet this new girlfriend of yours is the reason behind it," she said before she turned on the car radio.

"You will love her mum." was the only thing I said then I focused back on my drive. I did not even tell my mum that Suzy had a baby too but I knew my mum wasn't judgy so I just left it for her to discover by herself.

"Hello everyone, Granny is here!" my mum exclaimed with a playful voice as she half walked, half danced into the living room while I was at her back with her bags.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Dolly," Suzy said as she came close to hug my mum who was already smiling at her with her arms wide open.

"You can call me mum dear, it's so nice to finally meet you, Alex has said a lot about you and he was correct when he said I'll love you cuz I already do. Such a beauty," she said looking at me after she hugged Suzy. Katie already crawled up to where we were with Kasey behind her.

"Oh my, last I remembered, Xander, you didn't have twins, or am I the one hallucinating cuz I can see two beautiful girls here," she said as she scooped the girls in her arms, each resting on her hips then she looked at them then at me and Suzy.

"Holy Molly! Xander doesn't tell me Suzy has already given you a daughter cuz these girls look like you two. Oh my God," my mum said and looked at me with her eyes filled with questions.

"Mum no! Fuck" I said and laughed

"Katie is my daughter but Alex is not her dad," Suzy said quietly and looked to the ground, was she shy?

"Oh no dear, don't feel bad, your daughter is really beautiful. You know, some days are like that. Alex's dad left me too and now I'm in love with another man and we'll be getting married this Christmas." my mum blurted out smiling like a sheep.

"Mum! you talk a lot. You couldn't even wait for us to have lunch first. And I was right when I said you were excited about something else. I'm happy for you." I said then I hugged her.

Dana was still preparing lunch so she and Suzy sat in the living room while my mum asked her some questions about herself then I carried her bag into one of the guest rooms.

I went back to my room to change my clothes to something more comfortable then I called Kevin to tell him that my mum was around and he could come over with Lia for lunch.

When I went back to the living room the women were already laughing so hard that my mum's eyes teared up while the girls were playing with their toys on the rug. It was pretty easy for them to bond, this is something I never saw when I was married to Julie.

"Baby, I love your mum," Suzy said still laughing at something my mum said then my mum smiled at me and nodded her head yes. She already gave me her blessings with that simple nod and I smiled back at her.

"Kevin and Lia are on their way I think," I said then my mum looked at me.

"Your friend Kevin right? and who is Lia? Is he married and I wasn't invited to his wedding?" my mum asked which made me and Suzy burst out laughing.

"No, he's not married yet but Lia is his girlfriend and Suzy's best friend," I said then I crossed my legs and relaxed back into the chair.

"Oh! Wow, Two best friends dating two best friends, that's something.." she said laughing.

"So who is this man that has finally occupied the space and are you serious about the wedding this Christmas?" I asked my mum and she lightened up immediately as if I brought up a very interesting topic then she cleared her throat.

"Okay, so his name is Felix and he's a Fashion designer. But his wife died like five years ago and he has two kids, a boy, and a girl, Ronald is Twenty while Felicia is eighteen, and they are lovely, so you'll have step-siblings soon Yay!!, and yes my wedding is this Christmas, get prepared and you must come with Suzy, Ken, and Lia. I'm yet to see Lia but I think I'll love her too." she said all excited. Well, the idea of having step-siblings wasn't so bad seeing that I didn't have anyone and I'll love to know what it feels like though.
