Chapter five:
We brought Ultron back to the lab, only to find his mind completely empty. He used the internet as the escape route.
He's been in everything. File's, surveillance. He probably knows more about us than we know about each other, Natasha Romanoff said.
He's in your file's, he's in the internet. What if he decides to access something a little more exciting? Rhoedy pointed out.
If he did, he would have by now, I said. If Ultron wanted to gain access to the nukes then he would have gotten them. Instead we got a robot on our ass, who wants us dead. I told the team.
Steve Rodgers shook his head. No, not dead. Extinct.
He also said he killed somebody. Agent Barton added.
I shook my head. Well, there wasn't anyone else in this building.
Yes, there was, Tony Stark said sadly before grabbing a remote.
He pressed a button and this hologram of this light was shown. What are we looking at? I asked Tony Stark.
Jarvis was the first line of defense, Steve Rodgers said. He would have shut down Ultron.
Wait, that's Jarvis? I asked. Or at least the program of him.
Tony Stark nodded. Yeah.
Ultron could have assassinated Jarvis, Bruce Banner commented. This isn't strategy. This is rage.
Then Thor stalked towards Tony Stark, rage filling his eyes as he lifted him up by the neck. I got up from my seat and held my hand up as Thor pushed Tony Stark towards the pillar.
Come on, use your words, buddy, Tony Stark choked.
I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark, Thor practically sneered.
I waved my hand and knocked Thor back a few feet. He lets go of Tony Stark, who starts gasping on the floor, and glares at me.
Think again, I snapped.
Practical time, Rae Rae, Tony Stark coughed out as he got up. I then glared at him. Right. No nickname. Replied Tony Stark.
Thor was about ready to use his hammer on me, but decided to wait last minute. Trail went cold hundred miles out, but it's headed north. And it has the scepter. Now we have to retrieve it, again. Said Steve Rodgers.
Then the Asian chick, I guess is either one of Tony Stark's workers or another Shield operative was looking at Ultron's body. I don't understand. Then she looked at Tony Stark. You built this program. Why is he trying to kill us?
I sighed in disappoinment when Tony Stark started to laugh. You think this is funny? Thor asked.
No, Tony Stark said. It's probably not, right? This is very terrible. It is so... Said Tony Stark.
This time I groaned. I've only been here a few months and I know when Tony Stark laughs when he's nervous and guilty... or both. You and Bruce Banner created a murderous robot. There's no point in hiding it. I told him.
I'm sorry. You're right. It is funny. The Avengers were supposed to be different from Shield. Then he looked at me. Different from the Teen Titans. Anybody remember when I carried a nuke through a wormhole? Said Tony Stark.
No, it never come up. Replied Rhoedy.
A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. We were standing three hundred feet below it. We're the Avengers. Said Tony Stark. I cleared my throat, and he rolled his eyes and motioned to me nonetheless. And Raven. We can burst arm dealers all the livelong day, but up there that's the endgame. How do we plan on beating it? Said Tony Stark.
Together, Steve Rodgers answered.
We'll lose. Replied Tony Stark.
Then we'll do that together, too. Thor said. Thor's right. Ultron's calling out to us. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world's a big place. Let's start making it smaller. Replied Steve Rodgers.
