On a large executive chair arranged in front of a hollow square conference table was seated a very handsome young man with sleek black hair and dark blue orbs surrounded by thick long lashes and a small strand of his hair hanging over his right eye making his already perfect face look a lot more attractive.
His domineering aura enveloped the room creating cold intense air that filled the largest conference room in Silver. Conference Room 9-D.
His ruthless yet alluring stares scrutinized the fierce faces of the council members present in the room. They were neither staring at him nor each other. But their attention was on him.
These people are the lurking shadows behind the success of Silver. Standing as the second reason why Silver is the most powerful firm in the City and beyond. The first is of course Silver himself. They have no signed contract with Silver but they work for and with him. They are a total of six males and three females.
He swiveled his chair from side to side without making a 360-degree turn. His eyes were fixed on an equally gorgeous man who had his head down facing the marble conference table in front of him. His slightly messy deep brown hair adorned with natural honey-blonde highlights mobbed the table as his forehead rested on his palms.
Trevor enjoyed the frustration his brother was exuding at the moment. He made him almost want to grin but felt it was pointless. His inner bliss is more than enough to express his content. After all, everything is going to plan.
Matt could easily read passed his brother's actions. He knew this was going to happen and it was inevitable but seeing it actualize took a toll on him. His Jemima had to be caught up in all of this and he couldn't do anything to stop his brother's schemes despite knowing how wrong it is.
His brother had everything planned from the beginning stopping him now was near impossible. If it were just Trevor he would have to contend with, it would have been a lot easier but the entire council members will stand against him. It's fair cause he is merely even a member of the council.
His ear stood erect waiting to hear the first person to break the drop-of-pin silence.
Across from Trevor was an elderly man with snow-white hair and aqua-blue eyes. His pure white fishtail tuxedo made him look like a middle age man from afar, considering how good-looking he looks. This man is the first elder of the council, Guthrie. This title wasn't earned by age but by the time and experience he had given to this council.
Guthrie placed one of his hands on the table his leg crossed, swerving his chair so his body doesn't face Trevor anymore but he was still seated across from him.
"We're not sure why we are here but I presume it's about the girl." Guthrie smirked as he noticed Matt's glaring eyes from under his drooped head.
"It's not like there's much to discuss there, Silver has already made his choice." said the fourth elder, Xavier.
"You two think this is a joke..." Matt said hitting his fist on the table. It got rid of the smile on Xavier's face but not Guthrie, it only shrunk it.
"Silence." Trevor's voice was calm yet audacious. Everyone present was quieter than they were as if it was possible. Their attention fell back on Trevor whose gaze was fixed on his brother. Matt stared back at his infuriating brother.
"It will be silly to have you come just to talk about a girl, wouldn't it?" Trevor smoothed a smirk at his brother. Matt knew what his brother was trying to do so leaned back to rest his back on the chair he was sitting on, then turned his gaze away from his brother. He knows what Jem means to him, and having to explain it to his brother is worthless.
"There are more important things on our table. Devon Hughes." Trevor's brow furrowed as he mentioned the name of his major enemy. The only rival he regards. Hughes doesn't own a powerful organization like Silver, but the cooperation is compelling to Silver. One overlooked action could destroy Silver and take away its good reputation.
"I thought we tamed him." said the 3rd elder, Denise. The highest-ranked female among them and the second youngest female in the council.
"There's been news about his underground cooperation," Xavier told Denise.
"How can he gather so much power right under our noses, unless."
"He has gained more power over the season through a source." Said the oldest female in the council. And the sixth Elder, Elaine.
"Hughes is a problem but not that big of a threat to Silver, it's just important we thread with caution." Said the second elder, Lemuel. He is the most serious looking among the elders and very rigorous with his precepts.
"Still... We need to know everything about his subterranean cooperation. He is well known for his tricks." Xavier pointed leaning forward to rest his elbows on his desk.
"I'll leave him to the council. Find out what you can and take care of the cooperation." The council members nodded in sync. Trevor knew he needed to focus on protecting Silver while the council takes care of their prospective threats.
"As it stands Matt will have to excuse his seat until the council decides to let him back in the company."
Matt smirked. "I thought we weren't going to talk about the girl."
"'We aren't," Trevor suppressed a smile, he knew his brother was mocking his judgment to embarrass him before the council.
"Then why do I need to take a leave of absence just when she's about to start working with us?"
"I have no reason to explain things to you, Matteo."
"Why is that Trevor, haven't I been a part of your scheme for far too long, it's a shame you want me out now."
Trevor frowned, "I thought we had an agreement."
Matt nodded. "Of course we did." Matt stood up to his feet, adjusted his coat then walked out of the meeting.
"I suggest we remove him from the council as well, he is a rebel and a problem to this council." Elaine looked at Trevor.
"Matteo is very different from all of us, that doesn't make him a problem." Xavier retorted. It's not easy to be a part of a group where you're different from all the others. Xavier knows how hard it must be to cope with them and personally he likes Matteo.
Trevor is aware the council isn't pleased with Matt being a part of them. His constant rebellion gave them more reason to feel hostility toward him. Trevor needed to remind them that Matt is still the most important member of this council and their leader. His little brother might be a problem to the council and for him but he is very important to them, most importantly to him.
"Matteo will not be removed," the council detected anger in his voice. "From Silver and the council. If anyone dares to bring it up again I will have that person's head. Is that understood?"
Trevor's eyes roam the faces of everyone present waiting for someone to oppose him. No one said anything, they didn't even look at him. Seeing they were all clear on his warning he faded into his shadow until they could no longer feel his horrifying aura.
