Chapter 36 Gentle Brute
"there nothing here except paper... and papers." Lucis arrived at the town hall and looking through the stuff at the counter. What did he expect, treasure?
He move to the tower and saw another line of book after book.
He reach out some of the book while laying down on the couch trying to read it but it's just some record about the town citizens. He quickly lose interest and throw it on the floor.
He reached couple more book and there's nothing useful in it. He was expecting some cultivation manual or spell but all he got was book about Mardiv kingdom.
He reach for the second floor and feel like he pass through something thin like when your face dip in the water but it's just in a split second and the feeling disappeared.
"is that barrier?" Lucis rub his chin thinking about the feeling he got. His own barrier have a different feel when he pass through it.
"there must be something valuable if the city lord put barrier here."
Lucis reach the desk and scan carefully for any trap but didn't found anything. The good thing about the eye of green star is, it can pass through anything, even energy barrier. Basically he can go anywhere using the eye arrays.
Crack!
Suddenly something cracked in the control room.
Lucis pull out his consciencenes from the eye and scan the room he's in and found the outer ring of the array conductor cracked and the magic cube look like it'w about to shatter.
"Damnit.." he ran toward the cracked and patch it up quickly with black iron ingot he have in his inventory. Luckily, he have dozen spare of magic cube.
Lucis carefully pull out the cracked cube and suddenly feel that his connection with the eye start collapsing.
He quickly change the cube and activate the eye but everything is blurry. He try to reach through the other side but there's no reaction and his hand just pass through ripples in front of him.
"it's seem the internet have to stabilize the connection before I can use it again.. Darn! Just when I'm this excited." Lucis stand feeling dejected and look at all the book he just casually stole from the first floor of the tower scattering around his feet. it still feel unreal.
After waiting some time and feel that the connection is still unstable, he start walking around the array conductor inspecting it.
To his surprised, there's a lot of cracked on the black iron conductor though it's small and hard to notice.
"I need harder material.."
"the town is so poor and there's not a much of material that can be use as magic conductor."
Lucis spend couple of hours fixing all the cracked on the black iron arrays and occasionally check his connection.
"I wish they're costumer service just so I can play Karen here. their service is so bad, I need the manager.'
After getting bored of waiting. He take a quick swim in the water outside the room and caught a dozen of fish before he get out.
Another hour pass. Lucis sitting on the floor eating grill fish with the right seasoning and feeling quite please. Just in time, when he check his connection, it's as good as new.
He quickly teleport to the other side feeling excited with grill fish in hand start rummaging everything in the town lord office.
Lucia found a couple of the crystal talisman and a few coin but nothing that would be useful to him.
"that's weird.. why put a barrier then." he take another bite of his fish and scan the entire room again carefully but got no reaction.
"this is stupid!" Lucis put the grill fish on the desk and kick the chair where he sat when he visit the town lord earlier as he curse the town lord for being poor. apparently, his standard has level up after getting rich.
He teleport back to the cave and lay down on the couch before navigate the eye to the 3rd floor.
'hm? the barrier reach the third floor.' Lucis mood suddenly brighten again.
To his surprised, here is the record about all the surrounding village and organization like merchant, hunter, mercenary guards and so on.
"don't mind me." he teleport out and swept everything that look useful to his storage dimension before returning to his control room.
He continue to the 4th floor and found some important document about the big force in the surrounding area like the RedMoon clan and SpearSpell clan.
To make it simple, it's clean after Lucis short visit. He take his duty as cleaner seriously.
The 5th floor is mostly empty and only have the government stuff neatly sort on the shelf. It's almost look like a library than a place for document and office related stuff. It is useful if Lucis is one of the big forces in the area. Anyway, it's spotless after.
Finally he reach the top floor and scan his surrounding. It is filled with manual but most of it is for mortal martial art. There's some that belongs to the cultivator but it's mostly weak spell that Lucis already familiar with.
He skip everything and went straight to the cultivator side. "town lord is a good guy after all." Lucis nod satisfied.
"ice throne... this is cultivation manual but it only have spell for someone that have foundation.. I'll take it."
"blue fire art.. It only have manual until reaching foundation too.. I'll take it."
"ah, Stone Mountain... Still stop at foundation too, I wonder which one the city lord cultivate. Anyway.. thank you."
"ten thousand art.. ah, good guy town lord.. thank you again."
Just like that, Lucis steal.. Salvage 12 cultivation manual from the top floor but it only have manual until someone build their cultivation. There's no technique for magic core and guide to reach it. They'll doom waiting for the core to form naturally.
Lucis look at the window and see the first light shine. He look back one last time and give it a thumb up then quickly teleport back to the cave and lay down comfortably and navigate the eye back to his room in cool breeze inn. Like the name implied, it's cool in there since it's winter.
"this is some harvest. I need to make my own library for all of these manual in the future." feeling satisfied. Lucis left the control room and teleport to his house for a quick nap.
In the meantime at the murky Town in the town lord tower. The old man is panicked and start making a scene after he found grill fish that half eaten on the Lord desk. Even the chair is broken for some unknown reason.

Lucis sleep till close to noon when Suyi came visiting again to clean some snow and sort out the frozen stuff. To her surprise, Lucis is just woke up and sitting on the bed.
"morning." Lucis look at Suyi lazily. Teleport back and forth using the eye of the green star doesn't need much energy and he can go on the whole day and still have enough energy, but the teleportation actually effecting his sea of consciousness, or make it easy to understand, his mind. He feel like he just solved the mathematical calculation of the century.
"good morning Mr Lucis." Suyi bow slightly and stare at Lucis dazing on his bed. She's amused by this rare sight. Usually, Lucis always full of energy and tease her around.
"ah, I need some brain cultivation. My mind is too weak.. " Lucis pinch his forehead and laying down again feel like he have hangover.
"Suyi, my house is small, there's no need for you to keep cleaning this place.. "
"ah, mister. This is my job." Suyi smile faintly after listening Lucis voice sounds so weak.
"by the way, there's a lot of people come to my house yesterday asking about you.. " Suyi pause and hesitate weather to continue saying more or less. The people that came to her house asking a lot of questions about Lucis and some even speaking with a rude tone at her like she's keeping a secret that Lucis still in the village the whole time.
She did tell all the people before yesterday that Lucis never leave in the first place but they ridiculed her instead. She never told Lucis about it and keep it to herself.
"don't mind them, I already help them before, we don't owe them anything." Lucis wave his hand in dismissive then he sit down slowly.
Lucis wave his hand and a lot of food stuff coming out on the ground.
"make me something to eat and take the rest for you brother." Lucis slowly roll back on his bed lazying around in this cold weather.
"this.. "Suyi want to refuse but she suddenly remember that Lucis doesn't like it when she act that way. "Thank you Mr Lucis." Suyi smile briefly and start preparing the food.
Suyi surprised looking at the stuff on the ground. for someone like her, this is a luxury item that only rich people can buy
She boil water using the kettle Lucis newly bought very gentle and slicing the bread slow and very careful. She's not used to serve people and doesn't know how to do it as a servant either.
Lucis look at her making a tea and amused. She try to do everything as gentle and clean as she can but she's just a brute and rough. It takes her half an hour just brewing the tea and it's almost went cold already.
"hehehe... Haha.. Hahaha.. Hahahahahaha!" Lucis roll back to his bed and laugh loudly by himself frightened Suyi.
