Selfish friend

Tara bit her lips as she can sense that Aiden didn't like her much. Though he didn't say anything about her. She can feel it. He doesn't hate her but not necessarily like her either. She can't blame him. What kind of friend can't even see her friend's suffering for two years while being right beside them?

Then Aiden explained everything to Tara and how Lyra decided to move away for Juan. How she suffered but still hoped that things would work between them.

Tara ridiculed herself, 'You are pathetic, Tara. Even after hearing all this, I wish to still be with Juan. I am so selfish.'

"I understood," Tara whispered.

"What are you planning to do?" Aiden asked.

Tara looked down ashamed to voice her thoughts. She still wanted to try. She can't give up now. What... What if... Juan learns to like her. She is so ashamed of herself for thinking like that. While Lyra has put her first. She put Lyra down. But she can't lie to herself as that is how she truly feels. She won't give up. She will only try harder to win his heart.

'I love him so much. I want to be selfish. I can't watch him going away from me. I will try hard. Sorry, Lyra. I am such a disgrace.'

Aiden furrowed his brows. Until now he at least didn't hold anything against Tara as she didn't know anything but now seeing her he feels like his sister wasted her love on this kind of friendship. He shook his head in disappointment.

"I understand. But I would like to warn you. Do not try anything funny with Lyra. If I get to know about anything, I won't hesitate to throw you out of country R. Remember the Lu family is as powerful as the Lius. Do not approach my sister. Since you have already decided, do not hurt my sister. Don't cross me. You won't like an enemy like me," Aiden warned her and left her before the food was served.

"That dummy thought of this girl before her happiness. What a stupid girl." Aiden muttered angrily while making his way out of the restaurant.

Tara stifled a cry hearing his last line when he passed her. She felt so ashamed of herself. Tara covered her face and cried loudly. She didn't know how will she face Lyra.

When the waiter knocked on the cabin, Tara wiped her tears and sat straightly.

"Excuse me, Could you please pack all these?" Tara asked the waiter with a polite smile.

Seeing that Tara's companion is not there the waiter left to fulfil her request. After 5 minutes, the waiter returned and placed the parcel in front of her.

"Madam, The gentleman has already paid for everything. You can just take it." The waiter smiled professionally.

Tara nodded her head and left the restaurant. She gave the food to a child who was playing in a park and asked him to share it with others in the presence of elders.

Tara dazedly went to a club and drank until she couldn't tell between earth and sky. After hours, she finally passed out in the bar. Thankfully the bartender called Juan as he knew that Tara was from the upper class and close to the top families. Juan took her back to her apartment and left to his place.

The next morning, Tara pretended like nothing was wrong. She pretended to not know anything. But she started to avoid talking about Juan in front of Lyra.

-------------------

Back to the present,

Tara reminded everything and sighed. She laughed mockingly at herself. Even if she was to die, Juan won't like her, much less love her. She rubbed her face and decided how should she break this to her friends. She didn't want to pretend anymore. She will come clean with them.

Tara slept with all these messed-up thoughts. Lyra and others returned home in the early morning.

"Damn, My legs are about to dismantle from my body. Just how far did we walk? And to make it worse the snow was till out thighs. Damn this snow! I should be had the power of fire. I would have just blasted these darn snow." Oona rattled tiredly.

"I told you that I will carry you. You were the one who refused me." Joel complained.

"I would rather have my leg removed. Go away don't annoy me." Oona shooed him and walked towards her room.

"Woah bro, She shows no mercy. Her words alone are enough to kill you." Aiden grimaced. He felt hurt just listening to her talk rudely. How bad would Joel feel who was the subject of that?

Joel smiled lightly, "She is doing it so that I will get tired of her or hate her. Though I know the reason it didn't hurt any less."

Aiden patted Joel's shoulders, "Cheer up!"

Joel nodded his head and walked toward Juan's room. He knocked on the door when he didn't hear any reply he opened it and stepped inside.

"Hmm? Where did he go?" Joel looked around the house and called Juan a few times. But he was not picking up his calls.

Joel went to Tara and woke her up from her sleep, "Sorry, for disturbing your sleep, Tara. But do you know where is Juan?"

"Huh? Juan? he didn't tell anything to me." Tara said rubbing her eyes.

"Is it? Did something happen between you two? Why did he go out in the middle of the night?"

Tara glanced around and started telling him about the previous night's events.

Joel furrowed his brows and contemplated the places he would go.

"Is something wrong?" Tara asked looking at the concern on his face.

"Nothing, Probably her went out to cool off his head. Sorry. You go to sleep. I will not keep you up." Joel patted her head and stepped out.

He kept on dialling his number. When he was about to go out and look for him, his phone rang. Joel picked up the phone immediately seeing that it was a call from Juan.

"Juan! Where the hell are you? Can't you tell us when you step out? I will go crazy because of you. Don't you know that you shouldn't go out without people around you? Do you want to die?" Joel shouted as soon as the call was picked.

"Hmm... Boss....." heard a male voice from the other side of the phone.
