Before 2 years,
Tara was hopping with a smile with looking at something on her mobile. It was a candid picture of Juan and her. Juan was combing his back through his fingers while looking down while Tara was standing beside him looking at him like he is her whole world.
The picture was captured by some students from the photography department. They sent her as they felt it was a very beautiful picture with two bomb visuals together. She too felt like the picture came out very pretty. She kept coming on Juan and giggled as she made her way to Lyra and Oona who usually waits for her in the canteen. She is in a different class as her major is different from theirs.
She smiled brightly when she saw Oona and Lyra sitting in the mini park beside the canteen. She ran to them and voice about to call them but she stopped when she heard Lyra,
"I can't forget, Juan," Lyra said hugging her knees.
Tara was confused hearing that. She didn't understand what aspect she was talking about. She wanted to ask but stopped and decided to listen to them.
"Lyra, What is the point now? We can't do anything. Juan and tara are together now. Do you see how happy Tara is around Juan? She is like the most dazzling star. And it was you who decided not to reveal anything to Tara when she returned. You can only cry now and try to get over him." Oona sighed exasperatedly.
Tara felt like someone had poured cold water on her. What are they talking about? Juan and Lyra? Lyra loves him? Why didn't they tell her? She was clueless about these.
"It's not easy, Oona. Will my feelings vanish just because I wish for it to happen?"
"Okay let's not talk about this. Tara might come anytime." Oona added as it was already been 10 minutes since Tara called her.
Tara just stood there trying to make sense of the 5 sentences she heard. She wanted to ask them but decided not to ask them. She felt so bad now as if she took her sister's boyfriend. She took her phone and texted Oona that there is so argent submission and she can't join them. Oona agreed.
Tara ran from there and went to her apartment. She just so little of their conversation. She can't even guess things as she is clueless about everything.
She felt like crying but she didn't want to. There can be a misunderstanding. She thought hard about ways to know everything. She paced in the living room and grabbed the phone finally deciding on something.
Ring Ring*
"Hello,"
"Hello, Tara. What's up?"
"Are you busy in the evening?"
"Hmm... No. Is something wrong?"
"No, I want to talk to you about something. Don't talk about this to anyone."
"...Okay. I will meet you at the restaurant. I will text you."
"Thanks, Bye."
"Bye, Tara."
Tara kept her phone and sat thinking absentmindedly. She started going through her memories if she missed some important things. That's when she realised how Lyra always goes silent or awkward when she talks about Juan to them. Lyra is always very active, funny, and lovely. But in the past years, she was not like the Lyra they all knew. She still jokes around being playful but something seemed missing in her eyes. Like she was pushing herself to be normal.
Now, Tara realised how blind was she not to notice her friend's feelings. What sort of friend was she? Lyra must have felt awful looking at her and Juan. Tears escaped Tara's eyes as she thought about everything
In the evening, Tara went to the private restaurant and waited there for 10 minutes.
"Tara!" heard a cheerful manly voice.
She saw Aiden coming inside the private booth and sat in front of her.
"Sorry for making you wait. There were some things which I needed to overlook in the office." Aiden apologized.
Tara shook her head with a smile, "No, I should thank you for meeting me here."
Aiden just nodded his head and asked her what she wanted to eat. They ordered their food and waited for it to get delivered.
Aiden looked at Tara who was looking very nervous, "Tara, You can speak to me freely."
Aiden said and poured her chamomile tea and pushed the cup towards her. Tara smiled at him and sipped it slowly.
"Aiden... I want to ask about...L-Lyra." Tara muttered softly.
Aiden raised his brows, "What about her? You can ask her if something is bothering you. You know about Lyra."
Tara shook her head, "No, This is something I can't ask her about."
"Why so suspense? Just ask directly. No need to beat around the bush," Aiden added.
"That... Does L-Lyra have someone she l-like?" Tara asked him not being able to ask him directly.
Aiden sighed and rubbed his temples. He could already tell Tara got to know about something. Her face already tells it all.
"Do you want to ask about Lyra and Juan?" Aiden asked directly not wanting to hear indirect questions.
Tara was taken aback by his sudden question. She nodded her head, "Yes, I want to know about them."
Aiden nodded, "They like... no they love each other."
Tara's eyes widened, "Are you telling me that J-Juan also...."
"Yes." Aiden cut her off already knowing what she was going to ask.
"Then why..." Tara asked not understanding the situation.
In her mind, She didn't even think like Juan would like someone. He was just like an untouchable divine entity in her mind. And she can't associate Juan with someone who will date some other girl who is not his love. She can't understand anything. Now, this seems even more confusing to her.
Seeing the confusion etched on her face Aiden looked at the window and gazed out with a faraway look in his eyes.
"We don't know the reason. I guess Joel knows but I don't know for sure. There is something going on.
None of this makes sense. He is hurting Lyra and himself. Now you are included too. I am not all happy about this. I don't like to see my sister crying over him. I don't care whatever reason it may be he must have faced it together with her. This is the worst way of handling the problem. He just made my sister question her worth. We all know that he too loves Lyra. But why did he do this? We have no answers too."
