Lyra fiddled with her phone as she waited for Juan in the living room. Lyra had asked him to make Lemon juice, so he was in the kitchen. Lyra was pondering over their relationship now.
"Should I? Or should I not?" Lyra muttered as she was so confused now. Just what was she supposed to do? She had no idea.
Lyra sighed and peaked at the kitchen side. Seeing that, Juan was still busy with the juice she called Tara.
"Hello, baby!" Tara's cheerful yet gentle voice was heard from the other side of the phone.
Lyra nodded thinking that Tara would have never been able to talk like that if she was sad. But then, What if she was acting as she did before? So the only way is to ask her directly.
"Hey..." Lyra responded while thinking about how to ask her.
"Lyra..." Tara called out softly already guessing what was bothering her.
"Hmm..."
"Lyra, Baby, Wanna listen to what I say?" Tara asked softly.
Lyra nodded her head, then she remembered that she was on call and responded, "Yes."
"Hmm... I am fine. Like totally fine. And I am certainly not telling you this so as to make you feel good or better. I am fine from within. Do you know even I myself was surprised? The first week was so difficult. He was in my head and heart for every second that passed. He would be the first thought in my morning and the last thought on my sleepless nights. And all throughout the day was also filled with the thoughts of him.
But in the second week, I have come to accept that he was not a part of my life now. That he was not gonna be beside me now. And I also very well understood that in these past four years, he was there for me in every happiness and sadness. But then he was there as a friend, A guy friend. Not in the stance of a boyfriend. And I am not blaming him for it. I know why. But then, I did expect still.
But that everything was over. I got a clear view of our relationship. It was nothing but friendship. And about me loving him, I won't tell you that I didn't love him. I did. With all my heart. But then this love came not because he was Juan but because he was my saviour. It was my love and admiration towards my life saviour. I took it in the wrong direction as he was someone close to me.
That closeness has made to fantasize about a perfect life like in movies where the hero saves the heroin, both fall in love, marry, have kids and live in eternal happiness.
This idea was forced upon us by me, Lyra. We both are just not meant to be together. And I absolutely have no plans to approach him in the stance of a romantic relationship again. We are perfect as friends. And I wish it to remain that way. Forever."
Tara finished her long, long, long speech.
Lyra felt overwhelming emotions surging through her. She understood all these. But she needed an affirmation from her friend that she was doing something wrong, something shameful. Never would she want to lose her friendship. And it was the reason she so easily gave up on him. But now that she can get her love and friendship both, she was being greedy wanting both.
Lyra stayed silent on the line for some time, Tara also didn't disturb her as she was done saying her part. Now it lies in the hands of Lyra. Whatever she decided she is fine. But personally, she will be disappointed if Lyra didn't go for Juan. So she hoped with all her heart that they would end up together under this beautiful sky.
But then, will Fate allow them to have their romance, will the sky drench them with love rain? It was for the future!
"Baby..." Tara broke the silence after some time.
"Yeah," Lyra responded instinctively.
"You understand what I am trying to tell right?" Tara questioned.
"..."
Sigh* "Lyra, I am telling you that you should chase him to the end of this world, the end of this universe, this space. I am telling you that I am in your team. I am telling you that I want you both together, living happily ever after," Tara again told her patiently.
Tara was not angry at Lyra for her hesitance. She understood that was how much Lyra respected and loved her as a friend. Though she felt extremely happy thinking like this, she doesn't want to be a hindrance anymore in their life. Four long years were already wasted in their life. It was enough nonsense now.
Lyra felt her throat constricted now. She felt over-emotional now. She felt like she did the right decision by making herself out of their way back then. How lucky was she to get a friend who would tell all these? And most importantly! No matter what Juan was her ex-boyfriend
Lyra sniffled and hummed slightly like a kitten.
Tara chuckled on the other side as she could already imagine Lyra's pouty lips and misty eyes already.
"Now, go chase your man. Don't waste time now. Throw whatever nonsensual thoughts that come to your mind. Get him! Own him!" Tara spoke strongly in her soft voice making Lyra break out in laughter.
"Okay, Ma'am. The mission is received and will be accomplished," Lyra played along and joked dispelling the serious vibe.
Just as Lyra laughed, Juan entered the living room with two glasses of juice in his hands. He sat beside her and handed her the glass. He placed the glass on the coffee table seeing that she was on call.
Lyra's face looked very brightened and her eyes had a clear gaze now as if representing her heart, which was free now that all the suffocating things were cleared.
Juan also noticed that. He inwardly wondered who the caller was. As he could guess that it has something to do with her phone call. But he ignored it completely as it was not something important for him to speak or ask himself anything.
