Old Lyra

"....."

"Yeah baby, got it. Good night!! Hehe," Lyra answered with enthusiasm and energy brimming within her.

This got Juan even more confused. From her sentence, he could understand that it must be either Oona or Tara. But what did they tell her to make her this happy?

Just as Juan was wondering, he saw a shadow fast approaching him. But he didn't rush to defend as he knew who that was. It was none other than Lyra jumping up and down and clinging to him now.

Juan creased his eyebrows. He held her hand and stopped her from jumping upon him further.

Lyra pouted her lips, "Such a party pooper"

Juan ignored her words and made her sit properly beside him. He then calmly took the juice glass and gave it to her.

Lyra happily grabbed and sipped that heavenly taste. Lyra always loved the flavour of mint, fragrance and everything about it. She just loves it. Lyra closed her eyes as she tasted mint.

She smacked her hips and looked at him. "You added mint?"

"Hmm." Juan nodded and took his glass to drink the juice.

Silence engulfed them. But it was not the strangling silence which was there before. This time it was calm, comfortable, and happy stillness. Lyra grinned like an idiot as she drank her juice.

She then shifted closer to him and nudged his elbow, "Tsk* Why can't you ask why am I so happy suddenly? Aren't you curious?"

"You cannot shut your mouth," Juan answered in one sentence.

Others might not understand his not-so-complete sentence, but she can very well! He was telling her that she just can't shut her mouth. she just talks about everything having no secrets, right?! The nerve of this guy!

Lyra pursed her lips and noted to take revenge for it inwardly. Now that, things are clear, she will be the old Lyra, now. Enough of gloominess in their life. She wants a happy chapter now! But can she get it so easily? The answer to that is in the future.

Back to the present, Lyra glared at him and placed the almost empty glass with a bang on the table.

"I am not a petty, annoying, face-paralysed person like you! I will not argue with your rude comment. This beauty here will let it pass."

Lyra shamelessly boasted herself. Juan's lips twitched as his eyes brightened. His eyes trailed to her sparkling eyes and smiling lips. Unknowingly, his lips also tilted up slightly.

'She is behaving like how she used to behave before...' Juan thought inwardly and felt extremely happy.

When Lyra turned to him again, Juan had already put on his poker face. She ignored his face and nudged him again.

"Ask, Ask, Ask, Ask, Ask... JUAN!!! ASSSSKKKK!!!!" Lyra dragged while pulling his arms like a child.

Juan felt like she would detach his arms from his body if he kept being quiet.

"Why?" Juan asked plainly, but inwardly he was also curious about her sudden change.

She was like a tiny ball of shine, but suddenly, in the gap of ten minutes, she became the sun herself. That was such a... impossible... drastic... Unpredictable change if he should put it into words.

Lyra laughed out loud and leaned back on the couch. She rested in a slouching position and crossed her arms on her chest and gave him a haughty look.

'Try to guess! This beauty here will not reveal it.'

The thought was blatantly plastered all over her face that Juan didn't need to ask. But Juan didn't satisfy her and completely ignored her like a mosquito.

He didn't even show anything. He just turned towards the table and started doing his work again. Lyra clenched her fists. She can't take this lying anymore! How dare this guy ignores her! How many times has it been already?

Lyra jumped at him at lightning speed. Juan held her arms which were trying to wound around his shoulders. Lyra glared at him.

"You dare hold the most beautiful maiden's hand?" Lyra threatened him while her narcissistic behaviour surfaced again.

Juan's lips twitched. He felt like he was thrown into artic and desert at the same time. Lyra's polar opposite flippant behaviour was making things hard for someone like him who is blank most of the time.

While Juan was wondering how to handle the polar bear with lion combo while Lyra's brain was spinning at full speed cooking up various plots to bring Juan closer to herself.

But damn, her brain was refusing to cooperate now. Juan made Lyra sit properly and left her in her brain land. Lyra also didn't protest as she knew that she need time to bring everything back to normal and she was not going to accept any other result.

Juan just silently continued doing his work again. As his fingers effortlessly glided on the keyboard he was thinking about the events of this evening. He felt like things were so..... he can't put words to his feelings.

But he just knew that things were gonna proceed so fast now. He didn't exactly know what it was, but inside he knew that the old clingy Lyra was back. And she was going to pester and annoy him just like she used to do before. The thought of going back how to used to be brought immense happiness to him. But it also brought the same amount of pain as he stood steel himself again to push her away from him.

He felt like beating himself. Even... Even if he knew that he will push Lyra away he didn't want to see her so distant from him. Such a selfish bastard he is! isn't he? He chuckled mockingly at himself. He then stood up and left him not minding about Lyra who was still sitting there in a daze.

Lyra came out of her trance after 10 minutes. She let out a sigh full of disappointment as she was not able to think of any good idea. She had used everything she could think of before Tara came into her life. Now even after four years, she can't think of anything new.

She sighed again and looked around. Seems like, Juan has already left his room. She was left alone here with all the soothing and calming lights turned on. She could also smell the faint calming fragrance in the air.

"Did he light some scented candles", Lyra wondered and looked around.

Her lips tilted up as she saw a lavender-scented candle not far from her.
