Cannon Fodder

Swish …!

Bang!

Voom…!

The heavy and loud voices echoed in Su Xiangxue's ears. Her ears were ringing, and her head was splitting. Pain shot through her entire body and she felt as if she was hammered into a flat sheet.

' I died, didn't I ? Why can I still feel pain and hear sounds? ' Su Xiangxue couldn't believe what was happening. She had been a very good person, despite the fact that she was betrayed and had been wronged by others. Wasn't she supposed to open her eyes in a beautiful garden?

The loud sounds stopped, and retreating footsteps were heard. Su Xiangxue struggled to slowly open her eyes, and saw red.

All she could see was red. Her chest slowly rised and fell. She could smell something metallic and knew that what was obstructing her vision was blood.

It took every ounce of her strength to lift her hand, and wipe her face. After some of the blood was removed, her eyes came in contact with the sky. Breathing was hard, because the air was filled with blood.

Su Xiangxue tried sitting up but to no avail. Whenever her illness flared up , she would feel unimaginable pain . The pain was nowhere near the one she was feeling right now. A bone or two was broken, but that doesn't mean she couldn't move. There was another reason for this.

She stared at the sky , the sun was setting. She had to leave this place before night fell! Who knows where she is ? ! To get rid of someone, one would do it in a place where no one would be able to find the body. The wind slowly moved, and the chirping of birds…her best guess was that she was in a forest.

She tried moving but couldn't. Even moving her eyes was impossible , talk less of her entire body.

Her gaze lay straight ahead . Suddenly, a screen flashing with blue light appeared in front of her .

Su Xiangxue wasn't scared after seeing this, since she wasn't ignorant of its existence. She was an actress, and there were some novels she had read which had this feature.

She had transmigrated.

Su Xiangxue spent half an hour organizing the fragmented memories in her head. After this was done, she finally knew of her current predicament.

She had transmigrated into another world. A cultivation world to be exact. A world where the strong ruled , and the weak were crushed. And the body she inhabitated unfortunately had to be a cannon fodder. But that was good.

The pain Su Xiangxue was feeling slowly receded. She could now feel her arm and legs. The system was still waiting for her response, but she was less concerned about her. Now , her first priority was to leave before it became dark.

She slowly sat up , and wiped the blood on her face the best she could. After she had deemed it clean enough, she opened her eyes. Around her lay dead bodies, which had been brutally mutilated. She herself was covered in blood from head to toe.

She stood up and staggered forward to properly observe her surroundings. There had been a fierce fight, even the horse wasn't excluded.

There was a broken down carriage. The man behind the wheel was nowhere to be found. Judging from her clothes, and the dead people's clothes, she knew the era she had transmigrated into.

She crouched down, and searched every nook and cranny of the corpses. The valuable things plus the useless ones were all essential to her. She wasn't a bit sorrowful or nauseous after seeing the corpses. The people deserved to die because they weren't good people. They had killed numerous people. This is karma!

Su Xiangxue went over to the carriage, and scanned inside. It was bare, except for a bundled up cloth. She brought it out, and untied it. Inside were some clothes, private things and buns.

She brought her loot forward, and put them into the cloth before bundling it up and swinging it over her shoulder. That action caused her pain , but she ignored it. The ambush happened Infront of a dense eerie looking forest.

" System…give me my status."

The screen changed .

" Hmm…as expected. My strength is the lowest. And what's with the luck, 5 ? I would check all your features later on . System, could you direct me to a lake where there's no beast, and isn't deep in the forest?"

{ Affirmative, Host !}

A green arrow appeared in front of Su Xiangxue, leading the way. She followed behind it. She wasn't scared. Actually the forest was the best choice. The people trying to eliminate her weren't simple. And she is sure as hell she didn't have the capability to take them on.

The forest welcomed her in. The trees, the flowers…everything screamed danger! But she didn't let her gaze wander too long. She had to get rid of the blood on her , whilst she attracts a horde of beasts towards her.

The system was very efficient. They had arrived at a small lake, behind a couple of high shrubs. Su Xiangxue quickly shed off her bloodied cloth and threw it in her inventory. She filled all the water flasks she had with the clear water, before stepping into it.

The chill of the water made her shudder. She quickly scrubbed off the grime and dirt from her body, making sure to use the bathing materials she had found in the bag. This way the scent of blood on her would lighten. Books had stated that animals have a keen sense of smell. But she was not in the mood to find out whether it was true or not.

She climbed out of the water, and donned a new cloth. A simple green robe which contrasted with her rubby colored hair. It was getting dark, and she had to find a place to stay for the night.

She walked towards a tall , broad tree, and climbed it. Reaching the branch she was to huffing and puffing like a fish deprived of water.

" Damn! I need to work on my strength."

She reached into the cloth and brought out the two cold buns. Without a thought she finished it in four bites, and drank half of one of the water skin flasks.

" Ahhh..!" All the activities she had gone through, had taken a toll on her body. The pain was now present. She gritted her teeth to prevent any sound from coming out of her mouth.
