Awkward (2)

"Uhmm? What are you doing?" Fyre asked awkwardly, seeing the Alpha staring at him as he ate his meal. He's feeling embarrassed as he already is. Just remembering what happened last night was enough to draw all the blood from his body to his head. He wanted Joaquinn to leave already so he could breathe comfortably but it didn't seem the Alpha plan to do so with him staring at him like he was some newly discovered wild animal.

"Sitting..." Joaquinn replied, stating the obvious. Last night was a wild night indeed. He just started talking to Fyre days ago and he initially didn't mind him and just went on with the conversation like he normally would. He didn't have any particular thoughts about Fyre, he just regarded the Omega as a simple acquaintance where he would soon forget about in the future but after what had happened, his initial thoughts changed. Fyre has now become someone he simply couldn't forget. It was surprising even for him as he didn't feel the same to anyone but Fyre has become someone he wanted to protect like his younger brother, Maverick.

Maybe because Fyre is an Omega and he's an Alpha, or maybe because last night he saw his mother on him and wanted to protect him. He never got to protect his mother from her pain and sorrow and seeing Fyre, he immediately got attached and wanted to be with him and protect him as he couldn't to his mother(?) It's still a mystery even for him but this is what he genuinely feels.

"I know that but why? Y-you're just there sitting and staring at me...i-it's very uncomfortable..." Fyre confessed hesitantly, not wanting to offend the Alpha.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Jonathan replied however he still continued to observe Fyre without reason, which made Fyre unable to say anything and just awkwardly continued to eat his meal believing that if he ignored the Alpha and thought of him as a statue he wouldn't feel too uncomfortable. For the most part it worked but a few minutes later, another Alpha came with a frown and this time without saying anything sat next to Joaquinn. Fyre almost choked on his food seeing Tian Zi crossing his arms looking at him intensely.

Just when he thought that it wouldn't get worse, Maverick came in surprised seeing all three of them silently sitting at the dining area while two Alphas stared at the eating Omega.

"Oh, what's this?? Is there something going on?" Maverick asked, confused and proceeded to sit on the other side of Joaquinn and looked at Fyre and the two Alphas back and forth.

"Nothing. I'm just here to take a little break and Fyre was coincidentally eating breakfast." Joanquinn replied and Maverick just nodded in understanding since there was no reason for his older brother to lie. He was not that kind of person because he's the most serious and stiff person he knew who only put two people in his life in his top priority—him and their younger brother Ashton.

"I'm also here to take a little break..." Tian Zi also replied from the side still keeping his eyes on Fyre, which Maverick also nodded softly in understanding because the Young Alpha has never left Fyre side for too long during the whole vacation. However, there's something that's telling him that wasn't the only thing especially considering what had happened last night. It wasn't his intention to break Fyre and Tian Zi's relationship apart but he does admit that he had crossed his boundary. He shouldn't have kissed Tian Zi last night knowing Fyre was there listening to their conversation.

"How about you Fyre? You don't seem comfortable. Are these two bothering you?" Maverick gently asked even though he already had an inkling as to what the fellow Omega might have been thinking at this moment. And he was right! Fyre was currently in so much pressure that he was barely holding up. If not because alcohol was still in his system making his blood pressure somewhat relaxed, his pheromones would have flared up by now.

"To be honest... I feel bad that I'm the only one eating... It's a bit hard to swallow with people staring at me..." Looking at Maverick at first and pushing the memories of last night, Fyre sighed and tried to relax himself before he finally replied hesitantly. Truthfully, he is thankful of Joaquinn so he didn't mind the Alpha staring at him while he ate because he could ignore him but for both Tian Zi and Maverick, he didn't want to see both of them for the time being because it would only remind him of last night and how pathetic he had become; how he cried and whined. He wanted a little bit of time and space to fully move on from the pain he had felt.

"Then, I'm going to eat too..." Tian Zi suddenly blurted and immediately called for the maids to prepare him a light meal like Fyre's, which Fyre didn't want but had no choice. In the end, all four of them are eating pasta silently. Fyre didn't understand the situation. He initially thought that a 20 seaters dining table was too much but right now, it felt too crowded even when there were just four of them. He couldn't even enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean from afar and just wanted to escape the dining table as soon as possible and leave all three Alphas.

Unfortunately, as long as he's in the mansion, he would never escape this situation and it would only become even more awkward when the whole family is involved.

"I can't pinpoint what it is but, the kids are acting unusual," Laura mentioned, observing the situation within the table prepared by the beach. It's something the elders agreed about because it was their last day in Hawaii but Laura can't help but notice the situation. Of course, it wasn't just her, Hanlu and Daniel also noticed it but Laura just beat them out at mentioning it first.

First of all, the sitting positions are changed. Back then, Fyre and Tian Zi, Remi and Jonathan would sit next to each other. Even the three Sullen brothers would sit next to each other but right now, it was jumbled up. Fyre and Remi sat next to each other across Tian Zi and Jonathan. Maverick was in between Tian Zi and Ashton while Joanquinn was next to Fyre. Second of all, no one was talking. Even when asked how last night's party was, the person asked would only reply briefly as if no one wanted to talk about it.

"Did something happen last night?? Remi...? I trust that you will tell me the truth..." Laura asked while the rest listened. Fyre especially looked at his older sister because he was curious why the Beta chose to sit with him this time. He observed Jonathan and it does feel like there was something going on between the two.

"Nothing happened, Auntie. We all just got too drunk and now paying it with a hangover..." Remi smiled innocently, which Laura quickly bought because the ones who stayed up last night to party woke up rather late.

"Leave them be, Laura. We all went through this phase. It's not too bad for the young adults to enjoy it once in a while." Elder Sullen chirped happily. This was the first in the longest time since he had been with so many people from friends and family. He was glad that he quickly decided to renovate his rest house from a 5 room to 20 room mansion. He anticipated that times like this would arrive and he was more than joyous to know that he was right.

"I agree, Gab. I remember you used to give Mia a lot of trouble because you party a lot," Chendong mentioned, as he reminisced about the times when they were younger.

"That's not true. If I remember correctly it was you who kept giving your wife a lot of headache," Elder Sullen countered as he laughed. Thankfully, because of that, the atmosphere slowly became light but of course, Fyre wasn't satisfied with Remi's answer.

"Hey, is something wrong? Did you and Jonathan fight?" Fyre whispered to Remi. He doubted that Remi went ahead and got herself drunk because as far as he remembered, his older sister only had one glass of wine all throughout the night. But he passed out so he must have missed something.

"Ha? Oh no..." Remi simply replied, avoiding Fyre's eyes which was a bad habit of Remi when she tries to hide something. Fyre squinted his eyes because he knew at times like this, even if he pointed a gun at Remi's head, the Beta would never tell.

"Fine... I'll find out on my own..." Fyre said and this time glared at Jonathan who had been constantly looking at Remi's direction since earlier but never tried to talk to her. It's like something was holding him back and Fyre was determined to know.

"Fyre, there's nothing for you to find out... we're all just very tired last night." Remi insisted, looking at his little brother's eyes this time as if begging but Fyre wasn't convinced however he nodded anyway and humored his sister since he believed he'll find out anyway in due time.

After the mostly joyous lunch, the day went by with Fyre mostly avoiding Tian Zi and Maverick. In order to do that, he stayed in his room never going out until dinner time. There were times when the Alpha knocked on his door but he would pretend that he was asleep. It was rather obvious that he was avoiding Tian Zi and the person concerned wondered why and wanted to ask the Omega what he did wrong but right now he had no choice. Tian Zi wasn't stupid to not notice so instead of forcing Fyre to talk to him, he decided to give him the time and space he wanted.

And just like that, the next day came. It was finally time for them to go back. Long farewells and words of gratitude were sent to Elder Sullen before finally, all of them flew back; some happy and fulfilled and some with a heavy baggage and unresolved issues.
