About a week has passed, Fortuna's mind was able to develop enough for him to correctly talk and walk like a god is supposed to
"So... Humans have wars and kill each other... just because they don't want to share?" he asked.
Next to him was a god whose bodybuild strongly resembled Zeus'.
He had neck long brown hair tied up behind his head, and unlike Zeus, he wore a full armor that resembled the greek warrior's armor but still looked unique, as if it was custom-made.
"Not only that, but this is part of it.
You like what you see?
Want to bet on which army will win?"
"Bet?
What is that?"
The god looked shocked
"Did Aphrodite not tell you what betting is?
And she let you come to me all alone?
She must trust in your luck, protecting you from bad influence!
Well, let me show you!"
He put his hand on his chin while thinking the second he finished speaking.
"Actually, your little luck-thing would be a problem; I guess if we would bet, then that would activate your ability and make whoever you want to win, win the war."
He suddenly started laughing
"Make sure you never do that.
Your job is to rule the luck of the soldiers, not over the outcome of a war!
That is my job!"
Fortuna smiled and looked down.
"So, Ares, couldn't I just change the luck of my soldiers, making them unable to be hit?"
Ares scratched his chin again and started to grin
"Do that, and I'll give you a beating myself, you little cheat."
Fortuna started to giggle
"Try hitting me first, big guy."
Ares laughed along though he was actually quite concerned about Fortuna.
He continued laughing on, but as he did, he remembered a conversation he had with Aphrodite a day after the birth.
Ares was called by Aphrodite to meet at her residence due to a problem that involves Fortuna.
As Ares arrived, they both went out for a walk to a nearby temple, making sure neither Fortuna nor Nemesis would hear them.
"Are you... really sure that's a problem?
I mean, can't it just be an effect of the birth ritual?"
aphrodite reacted kind of irritated
"I've been telling you the ritual is nothing special it can't have such effects!
His mind should just develop as fast as any other god.
Yet, he is perfectly able to talk, move, and even partly control his ability after just one day.
If this continues, then he should be a complete god after not even a week has passed!"
Ares looked confused at the ground,
"Where exactly is the problem with that?
You're probably only scared that there might be a god that is more perfect than you.
I mean, I saw your face after you saw his eyes and wings!
You're absolutely jealous of him!"
He started to laugh out loud while Aphrodite looked at him, with a beet-red face and looking like she was ready to attack him right there.
"I... I'm not jealous!
I'm just worried about how this all will turn out!
Do you even realize what will happen if he develops further at this speed?
He will turn out to be too powerful of a god for us all to handle.
If he starts to rebel, we won't be able to contain him anymore.
We have to train him right this time because we only have one chance.
He will turn into the embodiment of a calamity, and not just for our world."
Ares looked at her with a shocked look in his eyes.
"You... don't think he'll actually be like that, are you?
That was all just stupid worries of a mother!"
"I am not kidding, and I am not a Mother, Ares."
Ares held his head in disbelief.
"There's absolutely no way a child like him will turn out like that.
I won't believe this!"
Aphrodite looked at him in a way that made her look disgusted by Ares' actions though, she probably is.
"Since when exactly were you one that gets attached to children this easily?"
Ares sat down with his back to a pillar outside the temple
"You have no place saying this the way you got attached to that little goddess.
I mean, you even taught her all the things you learned from the Humans that's love if I've ever seen it."
After hearing this, Aphrodite started to blush again and turned around
"Of course, because caring for her was a task assigned to me by Zeus, and I'm the god of love as well."
"I thought you weren't taking anything from that old man anymore since the red rose incident. "
Ares and Aphrodite looked at each other in confusion, as this wasn't said by either of them.
The voice sounded oddly familiar and came out of the temple behind them.
The confused look from Ares quickly turned into an annoyed frown as he didn't even look behind the pillar and sighed.
"What do you want here... 'Apollo?' "
Apollo started to laugh and walked over to the pillar
"Why do I need a reason to be here?
After all, this is my home!
Also, what do you do here, my friends?
Could you be discussing something over our new little compa-"
He was suddenly kicked in the face by Aphrodite before he could finish, and she did not hesitate a second to attack again.
"Aphrodite..."
Ares sighed.
He suddenly stood beside them and held Aphrodite's leg in place before it reached Apollo's head.
"I know this is your soft spot, but... don't fall for his trap.
He wants you to get mad, don't lose your cool over such a cheap trick."
Apollo suddenly started to glow and laugh out loud.
"How did a musclehead god of war like you find me out sooner than the coolheaded goddess of beauty?"
As he stopped to glow, his appearance changed as well as his voice.
Instead of Apollo, there was a taller, slightly more muscular, and definitely more mischievous looking god.
He had long black hair with blond strands that was long enough to pass his shoulders and short beard stubbles on his chin.
His eyes had two colors; his left eye was red, while his right eye was dark green.
His clothing was pretty revealing.
Ordinary-looking pants, yet a thin top showing his belly and shoulders and looked like someone just threw a thin layer of cloth over his body.
Though it also looked like a weird mixture of armor and casual clothing.
"Even when you change everything about you, your annoying style of talking still shines through."
He picked up Aphrodite, still holding her, so she won't be able to move.
"Also, no matter how it may come, we both promised to not mention that incident.
We both think that Zeus took it too far."
The god started to laugh again.
"Wow, you're so adorable!
But for the god of war, you're pretty soft, aren't you?
I actually thought it was hilarious!
Didn't eat boar for a whole week after that to show my respect and love for it.
Anyway, did you already discuss who gets the child?
I'd take it if it's too much for you."
Ares had to hold back Aphrodite with all his might due to her visibly becoming more aggressive by the second.
"I'm asking you again, why are you here, Loki?"
Loki looked a little saddened.
"Oh, so you actually did know it was me and not Apollo.
I thought you tried to talk your way out... would be more fitting for someone like you."
"Listen, Loki.
I will ask you one time again, and if you don't answer, then I'll let this bundle of pure murderous aggression go."
Loki backed away without making any expression.
"Ok, ok, don't need to threaten my life over here, damn knucklehead."
Loki sighed and started to smile again.
"Your old man and my brother assigned Hermes and me to make sure the humans know a new god has been born, disguised, of course.
I think I already saw some temples being build for her.
She's already insanely popular.
But what else do you expect?
She's someone that's in some way able to control how human life will turn out to be."
Both Ares and even Aphrodite, who was so set on killing Loki that she wasn't even able to speak the last minutes, got a cold shiver down their spine.
"You... did you just call Fortuna... She?"
Aphrodite asked with a worried expression.
"Yeah?
Is that a problem?
I mean, even if I didn't tell them her gender, the name gives it away."
Loki said with a confused look on his face.
Suddenly, Ares grabbed Loki by the collar.
"DID YOU JUST TELL THE HUMANS THAT HE'S A GODDESS?!"
Loki looked a little confused at first but, after a few seconds, blurted out into laughter.
"Ahahahahahaha, that was a dude?!"
Aphrodite held her head.
"But Hermes was there as well, right?
He knew that Fortuna is a god and no goddess, right?!"
"Actually," said Loki, smirking, "I told him that I'd do it alone after he did it for... maybe an hour, so most of the people will remember him as a goddess!"
Aphrodite was about to attack him right after she finished until she realized something.
"Did you say... they already started building temples for him?!
That means his power will grow even more prominent and quicker than we thought it would!
Ares, we have to start to train with him as soon as possible.
We can't let him be alone for the next few months... or he will destroy himself with his own power!
We have to go back... but this isn't over Loki!
May Nemesis have mercy with you."
Ares let Loki down and went back with Aphrodite.
