Gauging Tests (Part 2)

The exact question had been on everybody's lips since everyone was surprised but none as Althea. She had done the calculations and seen that most of the students would end up in a U rank and knowing the military, they would offer them upgrades in their particular fixtures giving the military control as they would mostly dominate the use of their powers. It was a risky move but knowing the hunger for power in today's society, many would fall into the trap. She just grimaced inwardly at the society she has had to live in.

Although Althea had figured out the College's plans, there were only a handful of people who had seemingly put the pieces of the puzzle together and were having a battle within their minds to either keep quiet or tell others but in the end chose to keep shut, this was one of the only ways they could climb the chain in power, it was either sabotage or in more lenient words "get stronger" or watch your enemy shrivel and weaken, it was cruel but so was life, you just had to get used to it.

Noah looked at the girl beside her with nervous eyes, he couldn't help but cower a bit at the power she held. He thought back to the previous day when the sudden attack hit his body hitting him at an astonishing speed causing him an enormous shot of pain. The kind of fixture the girl held was among the kind that were extracted from space and time fragments and the chances of absorbing them without dying were very low meaning she must be as good a fighter as she is over her mana control and by judging the look on her face, he knew that she too found and unraveled the military's plan meaning she was highly intelligent too. He knew that he would surely die if he was put in a situation of fighting a triple threat like her as most people would undermine her due to her cute face.

Noah had also uncovered the secret as to why the military changed the grading system and couldn't help but grimace at this level of manipulation yet a side of him was strangely impressed. Upgrades were technologically made unlike fixtures, taking an upgrade was like signing a contract with the de... military.

The military would have control over a students use of powers once they got an upgrade since the technology itself was made by the military. The 'level' grading system was quite insignificant as people would strive toward receiving a higher rank as they were harder to obtain than levels but many want results fast and would rather get upgrades than actually train to get higher ones but there were still those who were willing to put their lives in the military yet they would rather work hard than get upgrades thus the military gets stronger soldiers. "Turns out the military had more in mind than just control" Noah thought and couldn't help but give himself a non-existent pat on the back at his discovery.

The soldier on the platform simply ignored the question and kept quiet raising the suspicions of many students in the hall and confirming the suspicions of others. He hid his inner turmoil and managed to keep a straight face before saying his next statement "The serving out of your watches will begin shortly", saying that, the soldier stepped down and was replaced by another even more stoic than the last.

At the same moment, around thirty different soldiers started teleporting around the room handing out watches. Teleportation fixtures were separate from space warp abilities in that they were laboratory made while space warp fixtures were not. Plus teleportation fixtures could only teleport over short distance while space warp fixtures could go anywhere depending on mana control and training. In a matter of only 10 minutes, every student in the Hall had a wrist watch that displayed nothing.

"Tap on the watch to reveal your teammates and which training ground you will be going to, it will display a number and you will head over to the teleportation port with said number as you will be teleported to a place where you will find one health sector attendant, one soldier and your fellow teammates as well as your opponents" the brown haired soldier said as more of a command than information.

Noah tapped on his watch and watched in delight as it showed Althea Harris as one of his teammates. Of course he was delighted
