For the past 2 hours, Cara and James had been taking their time 'nicely' asking the leader of the group who and why they were sent after James. From what they had gathered Silvio and Second Elder saw James as an eyesore and wanted him to die as soon as possible.
In addition, Fourth Elder seemed to be alright with this happening while the other Elders were kept in the dark. The crazy part of it all was the fact that James was not their only target. After they were done dealing with him they were supposed to find and chase down all of the First and Third Elders' Disciples to kill them.
When James had asked the leader why this was the case the guy laughed and explained that the Elders had been feuding for many years.
It had started as a simple difference in opinion and only expanded from there according to the Disciple. Now the two groups hated each other but only Second Elder's side was extreme enough to want to kill people.
'Luckily we found them first.' James thought to himself with relief. First and Third Elder had treated him well ever since they crossed paths and he had every intention of helping them when possible.
After interrogating the Disciple James killed the man leaving his dead body in the middle of the forest to be picked at by any beast.
Even if he wasn't eaten and the Elders found out that he killed the man James didn't care in the slightest. If they wanted war then he would surely give them one now that they had already come after him.
"We should head to the center." James spoke up suddenly as he and Cara started gathering their things and looting the body of the Disciple.
"Actually, I'll be leaving after this." Cara said sullenly as she looked at James.
The craving that had taken over her body the night before had been satiated due to all the time they had spent together and she now realized the bad situation she had put James in.
If she were to gather in such an open area as the center platform then there was a much higher chance she would be spotted and James would be expelled from the sect.
He was already in danger enough from Second and Fourth Elder, "Alright, I understand even though I don't want you to. I'll be sure to return as soon as possible." James said with a smile as he embraced the warmth of Cara once more.
Cara smiled sweetly at this gesture and they closed their goodbye with a kiss as she also took something out of her storage ring.
The object was a tiny boat, it had the look of an average sailor's boat that you would find in the sea.
However, it was much more special than this. James could tell by the profound aura coming off of it that it was anything but simple.
"What is this?" James finally asked unable to hold back his curiosity any longer.
"It's a flying artifact. This should help you get places a lot faster. I found it in that guy's storage ring for some reason. People like that shouldn't be carrying around items like this but it worked out I guess." Cara said laughing as she handed it over.
James took it carefully, ensuring not to damage it, "The way you get it to work is by infusing it with your Qi. This will leave your Qi imprint on the object where only you can use it." Cara explained as James finally fully took hold of the boat.
With the new information, he did as she said pushing his Qi into the object which made him feel like he and the object had a new connection.
The connection was strong and James could feel a lot including the barrier that was blocking his mind from learning more about the boat. It seemed it wasn't nearly as simple as it seemed.
"Thank you, I will definitely take care of this." James said with assurance as he looked at Cara in thanks.
"I know. I'll see you back at the house safe and sound. Bye my love~" Cara said happily as they kissed once more and separated before Cara disappeared from the scene.
With Cara gone and a new renewed energy in James' heart, he began making his way to the middle stage once more.
Even though he had just gotten the boat James still had no idea how to use it. He was also afraid of the greed it might bring to those around him so he decided to keep it in his storage ring for now as he ran toward his destination.
Luckily where he was going wasn't too far as he made it all the way within 30 minutes of jogging, "Finally! I passed the test!" James shouted happily as he ran up the stairs of the platform in front of him.
Surprisingly, when James reached the top of the platform, he saw that there was no one else there except for himself. Not even an Elder was present since they didn't expect someone to finish the test so early.
However, a Core Disciple was watching over the area just in case of a problem occuring. It was a job that wasn't taken too seriously in the past since nothing really ever happened but when the Disciple saw James arrive from far away he nearly spit out his food.
'Someone actually finished the test already?! I need to inform the Elders!' The Disciple thought before shooting back toward the sect at a fast speed. If James had arrived that soon then it was only a matter of time before others began arriving as well.
As for James, he decided to enjoy the time of relaxation he had and lay down in the middle of the bleachers to take a nap. He had done a lot of fighting the past day or two and thought it would be nice to rest some more.
