Games Cats Play

I gathered a lunch tray and a sandwich and instead of going to my normal spot I took a detour, to his spot.

I sat down casually, I noticed several people turn toward me curiously for a moment before looking away again. I hadn't thought about it until recently, but he had stopped challenging me to duels recently.

"No duel the last few days huh Leo? Did my last time hurt your 'Pride'" I emphasized the last word as I sat down.

He raised an eyebrow. He wouldn't know I knew, because I just found out obviously.

"Nice weather we are having, doesn't seem to be any 'Snow' around." He replied.

"Well obviously, it's summer." I replied back. "Who would stay indoors when the city has all this night life."

"How long?" He asked.

I raised an eyebrow, "Does it matter?"

He smirked, "No. So what information did you gather with your little project."

"Not so much information, I'm working out some trust issues." I took a bite of salad. "This green stuff isn't very great, I wish they'd serve more fish." I picked out the chicken from the salad.

"So Capricorn." I added as I devoured the chicken strips. "Your thoughts?"

He half purred before catching himself with a slight cough. "You really do think of the best ideas, but I thought of it first. But yes, if your asking, I feel like you already know though."

"Of course I do," I half purred back, "I'm me. And me is amazing. Just wait."

A minute later a group entered the cafeteria as well. Kyle, Noah as Stripe, and Ryan.

Kyle frowned at my new seating spot and then they joined us.

As soon as Stripe helped himself to a bench the area of the tables next to us cleared up.

He had eaten here once before and a few agents passed out.

"So new spot?" Stripe turned his head to look at me questioningly.

"Well of course, new friends are great. Meet Leo, he's a friend of mine, just like Layla from HR who you met the other day." I stated. "Connections are a good thing, after lunch I should introduce you to the Director as well."

At the word Layla both Kyle and Ryan twitched slightly. I just gave them both the hint they needed.

"Right, nice to meet you Leo." Noah said and held out a paw.

Leo paused for a moment then shook it softly. "Pleasure is all mine."

Ah this is great, they are sooo going to kill me later. Then again they don't know me as Snow, but Kyle will definitely be mad at me for provoking a lion.

Pride was practically beaming with evil glee. Play the game, or the game will play you. I thought smirking internally. Okay cat, what is it you want from little Snowy at the moment anyway, fighting? Info? Nope, you want entertainment. What better way to play with an enemy than under their noses?

We continued eating and had rather painful small talk. How's the weather? Oh good, Did you hear the latest news? What is everyone's favorite sport team. Blah blah blah. I doubt any of these cats care about sports. Only Noah and somewhat Kyle seemed to know much, but all of us pretended to be thoroughly interested in them, it was amusing.

"So about Capri-" Noah started but Kyle suddenly shoved him.

"Caprisuns? Are you still drinking those? They are for kids!" Kyle chided him. "Upgrade to orange juice won't you?"

Leo's false smile wavered slightly but went back to its charming look. Everyone at this table except for Noah has had lessons on lying, deceit, and acting.

"Oh right," I said near the end, "Kyle there was that report I wanted your help with, would you mind still?"

"Of course" he replied looking at me hesitantly. "When did you want to work on it?"

"Oh thank you! I'll meet you in my office in like five minutes, Leo just needed something from me real quick." I filtered off through the hallway and Leo shrugged and waved at them before following me into the hallway.

"Well?" I turned to him, "Admit it, that was way more fun. All I need is to get a little closer and I could basically pour poison in their cups without them noticing. Wouldn't that be the best backstabbing game ever!"

He looked like he was contemplating the idea.

"You know, that's actually not bad." His eyes gleamed. "You work on getting closer to them and I'll work on the Capricorn side. You can be the backup plan."

"Tragic, if the beam works out I loose out on all the fun!" I pouted.

"Oh don't worry, Snow will still be plenty involved in the beam project, just little, what was it? Cody? Will become their best buddy, who knows you might just save one of their lives before you stab them in the heart." Pride laughed. "This just got way more entertaining, I'm expecting a lot from you, do try not to disappoint me. We still have so many days before we are finally free from this! I was getting really bored. But you-"

He walked over a wrapped an arm around me. "You are just the entertainment I didn't know I was needing. But like I said," His arm tightened, "Don't mess it up."

"Please!" I glanced at him and rolled my eyes, "What is there to mess up? You said yourself I'm just the backup plan. The backup plan is just the entertainment. Soooo-" I emphasized the word, "Just enjoy the show before the planet blows up. This was a vacation planet right? Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and fun."

I started to walk away then glanced back, "We should play some games before this all ends. A tribute to the planet's memory and gravestone."
