"WHAT THE HELL CODE!"
I glanced up at Kyle who looked furious.
"Stop using that dumb name and maybe I'll answer." I grumbled he only tended to use it when he was annoyed at me, I really wish he never learned it.
"Fine, Cody, care to explain!" Kyle crossed his arms.
Behind him Noah and Ryan hesitated by the door looking uneasy.
"Come in and shut the door." I waved them over.
I had checked my office for bugs as well as checking my own camera feed. I'm not convinced Pride trusts me. The diary seems way too easy to find for one.
The door slammed shut as Kyle dragged them both over and shoved the door shut.
"First you are wandering through the carpet of the room like a mad man, then we find a mic after you run off and return. Then you run off AGAIN and we don't see you for an hour, only to find you eating lunch with a guy I thought you hated. And then!" He paused to breathe, or maybe for dramatic effect, "You mention him being a friend like Layla! Layla! What the hell!"
"You done?" I asked.
"Who's Layla?" Asked Noah looking confused.
"Her dead best friend." Ryan replied.
"Wha?" Noah looked even more confused.
"You wanted us to know something was off, why?" Ryan looked at me questioningly. "You never bring up her name, and they way you did clearly said for us to shut up and be on our guard."
I debated for a moment how much I actually wanted to tell them. I'm not sure how they'll take the whole Snow thing, I did drop their friend off a building. Well they do deserve at least part of the truth, I'll hand the whole Snow thing later....I'm definitely not just putting it off because I don't want to tell them.
"Well? Cat got your tongue or something!" Kyle fumed at me.
Fair I deserved that, both of us hated bringing up Layla.
"Congratulations, you just met Pride." I replied simply.
They all went dead quiet. It was funny to watch there expressions turn from disbelieving to, why would I lie, to what?
Kyle was the first to regain his senses, "Why are you hanging out with a serial killer?"
I shrugged, "Why wouldn't I hang out with a serial killer."
He groaned putting his face in his hands for a second. "Gods Cody, logic just doesn't work on you does it. He can practically breathe and kill you!"
Not quite, I am also a cat, I thought, but sure.
"It's our job to hang out with serial killers, especially if one is among us." I retorted. "Keep your enemies closer and all that."
"How much do you actually know?" He looked at me removing his hands from his face.
"Keep doing that and you'll be grey by 30." I replied.
"Cody."
"Fine," I rolled my eyes, "I know plenty, be more specific."
"Camo said you tried to free him before he was tossed off the building."
"Okay?"
"Did you?" He raised an eyebrow.
"What was I supposed to do? Watch him die?" I folded my arms to glare back at him.
"Of course you did. I should have noticed it sooner." Kyle groaned, "Stop putting yourself in danger just because you're upset you didn't get a cat."
"Oh that's rich coming from you." I replied, "Who's the one who followed me to the public service sector?"
"That's different."
"Is it?" I smirked. "Why don't you give up on this dangerous game then?"
"I can't I have to save the planet!" Kyle looked at me incredulously, "I have a duty and a ridiculously strong alien on my side."
"Great, I also have a duty to save the planet. I live here. They might charge for oxygen on other ones and serve only fish." I shuddered, "Can you imagine eating fish tacos for the rest of your life? The horror!"
Kyle tossed his hands in the air. "Do what you want, but stay away from the cats. If Night sniffs you out I'll have him knock you out and I'll lock you up."
Oh I'd really like to see you try.
"This is not a productive use of time." I yawned as I tossed a small device over to him.
Kyle frowned and activated it.
"Why don't you start tracking the serial killer instead of arguing with me about it? Aren't you supposed to save the world or something? If your lucky he won't notice the tracker until after you find out where they will be getting their power source from." I smiled sweetly as I scooped it back up before he could, "You wouldn't want to waste such a great opportunity just because your unwilling to work with a tech genius would you?"
He frowned at me again.
"Oh relax would you." I tossed him the device again. "I'm not planning on dying, I rather like all my limbs. I'm more worried about you guys." I frowned then added a tid bit of my own, "Pride's legit crazy and smart. The bobcat, Dart was it? I think that's what he said on that live stream they did. He's a sneaky little thing. From what I can tell you need to watch out for them. The Lynx just does what they say, and the snow leopard," I frowned, "He's interesting."
"How'd you gather that info?" Ryan asked.
"Please, who are you talking to." I gestured to the computer in front of me. "If anything near them is connected, I have eyes and ears on it."
"Why do you call the Snow leopard interesting." Kyle frowned at me.
"Yeah if anything he is the crazy one we should be most wary of." Noah added.
This was fun now, and technically this next part wasn't a complete lie.
"Easy," I replied, "He sent Kyle a text with the location of Camo."
All there eyes shot to me.
"Wait that wasn't you?" Kyle stared at me.
I shrugged, "I just jumped out a building with a parachute, when would I have had time to send a message. I was expecting your little wildcat to free himself. Snow sent the message."
"But he is a destroy cat." Noah looked constipated.
"He is a destroy cat." I replied with a nod.
"Then why didn't he destroy?" Muttered Noah.
"Cody, do you by chance have Snow's number?" Kyle looked at me, "I think its time we chatted with him."
"Why would I have a crazy cat's contact number?" I asked.
"Really?" Ryan raised an eyebrow, "You who will always be involved if something is deadly and dangerous and who collects all the info, knows who Pride is but doesn't even have a phone number for the Snow cat?"
"Fine." I smirked, "You're right, I have his number, but he prefers e-mail. He seems to think everything on the phone is spam. Do be careful though, he is a hacker like me."
"How good is he?" Kyle glanced at me.
"Well I'm a genius." I replied. "Thing is, he's also one."
