Down

I helped move some very expensive broken technology. I glanced through the portal, actually a lot of that was still usable. Darn!

"Okay, next area." Pride scanned the empty building and headed for the next one.

I glanced behind us. Why hadn't Night and his merry band arrived yet?

Wait did Pride toss his tracker in the landfill? Or maybe they are scouting the landfill?

The next building had several large grey tank like things. Battery storage, this was what they actually needed. So, how do I make them unusable while looking helpful?

Oops! A clawed up connection here, a broken valve there. And this one will be leaking. I withdrew a claw from inside of it and tossed it through the portal.

I glanced around, still with all my destruction, and theirs, some pieces were still in workable conditions. I'll have to find a way to destroy them later.

A clattering behind me caught my attention and I glanced back as did the others. The merry band had arrived.

Night looked at Pride and hissed.

"Well greetings." Pride hummed, "You even brought your wildcat so we can fix our previous mistake."

Camo frowned at the threat and Cal, the mountain lion, stepped protectively over him.

"No matter." Pride added. "I'll take the ugly black blob and the orange pile of fluff. Lilly take the spotted freak, Snow, the mane-less lion, and Dart, please end the little mistake."

"With pleasure!" Dart launched himself at Camo and Cal knocked him aside with a paw leaving a bloody welt.

I stalked up to Cal.

"Hello, I believe you are my target today, not his." I swiped a paw in a playful bow. "Lovely to meet you, I am-" I got cut off by her paw swipe and instead of backing away I leaned in and took her tumbling away from the group with me.

I carefully altered our path out of the way and down the second row before I shoved her off me.

I stood up looking at her.

"You hurt Camo!" She hissed and launched herself at me.

I swatted her sideways with ease. Her fighting at the moment was so easy to read.

"Get your emotions in check or you'll never win." I muttered.

Funny that's something I tended to think of Pride's human's fighting style as well. Pity, I don't think that will work on him anymore.

"You!" She launched herself at me again and I clobbered her over the head.

She fell to the ground dazed for a second as I held a claw to her throat.

"You really don't listen do you." I asked.

She froze for a second. "Go on do it then!" She hissed.

I withdrew my claw.

"I would, but I have a different task for you." I replied.

"So you are on our side." She stared at me hesitantly before rising to her paws and glancing fearfully at Dart's battle with Camo.

"Relax your little brother will be fine." I felt her stiffen beside me and start trembling.

So I was right, Olivia was the mountain lion.

"You! Just how much do you know! You-" She started, but I cut her off by flicking my tail over her mouth.

Then I pointed my tail at the portal, "I need you to go claw up all this stuff."

"Why?" She glanced at me, "What I need is to fight off you planet killers!"

"No you don't." I frowned, "That's my job. You get to destroy all our stuff, while I tell them you're dead. Then you get to do me a favor, and for the moment, play dead. Or if you don't want to play dead, I guess I can just kill you and win back Pride's trust." 

"I'm not going to play dead for the game!" She hissed.

I rolled my eyes. And pointed into the portal, "See that stuff? That is how they are going to destroy the planet, you destroy it and you gain time. You only have to keep the planet alive what, a few more days for save to win, was it? Play dead for a day and show up at the last battle anyway. Not hard." I pushed her slightly toward the portal and she hissed at me.

Then she paused, "If any of them die so help me I'll hunt you down and make your death last far more than a few days."

"Fair enough." I replied and shoved her through the portal.

She glanced back at me once then started tearing up things and disappeared from sight.

I meanwhile strolled back to the fight area. This should be fun, oh man, how many of the save cats are going to try to murder me right now.

Upon my return the battle seemed to pause and freeze.

"Where is Cal?" Camo looked at me in horror.

I had bit my leg to make it bleed and then rubbed the blood all over my jaws. But now my leg hurts, a lot. 

I might be insane.

Pride glanced around, both Stripe and Night had froze looking at me in horror.

"What?" I frowned at them and smiled evilly. "We were down a cat, now they are down a cat. That's how you make things even right?" I purred.

"Down?" Night continued to stare at me his eyes wide.

"Down, dead, dying? All lovely D words."

"You monster!" Camo launched himself at me tears starting to trickle down his face.

Of course he jumped first, dumb small cat, I could rip him apart in an instant. I batted him sideways with a paw only leaving a small tear on his fur.

"Cute, want to try again?" I asked him, clearly playing with my food.

Hopefully this would appease Pride on why he wasn't dead yet. Should I call him lucky or a headache?

Then the fight really broke loose. All rationality was gone and four cats targeted me with sharpened claws and anger in their eyes. Well, I did kind of ask for it didn't I?

I am definitely insane.
