Kyle dragged me forward and let the door shut behind him. "Do you like popcorn?"
"Yep." I replied looking around his room.
He had taken me to their base instead of my place. It was my first time actually looking around properly since I left last time basically as soon as I could walk. I had needed some alone time, and then they all just showed up at my house again.
Seriously their base was nice, why did they keep moving into my place!
Kyle's room here was similar to mine, but had been decorated with several nice pictures and furniture. I must add some unessential things to mine before ever inviting him in. I made a mental note to start with some random decor.
"Well don't just stand there, make yourself at home." Kyle smiled as he slipped over to the kitchen area and I heard him start up an air popper.
Ah right, how did one make oneself at home again? If I was pretending to be someone's boyfriend I'd probably sit on the couch and slowly lounge more after a little bit of time. But this was my own relationship, did the same rules still apply? Maybe I should ask if he wanted help with the popcorn? I could manage to not burn it right?
I heard the popcorn maker finish and a clang of a bowl. Snap! I couldn't still just be awkwardly standing here! I hurried to shove myself onto the couch in a very stiff fashion.
"Here you go." Kyle passed me my own little bowl. "Remember to just flat out tell me if anything bothers you. I will always do my best to accommodate." Kyle smiled.
I looked down and nibbled on a piece of popcorn, the weird tingly warm feeling was back. The popcorn was very tasty, the best popcorn ever.
"So what kind of movies do you like? We got superheroes, ocean documentaries, thriller spies, romance-"
I chocked on my popcorn for a half second.
"You good?" Kyle asked.
I quickly nodded, let's not do a romance, that would be too awkward, superheroes would be okay, but I'd had enough cat stuff of late. Honestly an ocean documentary might be nice but I also might fall asleep if it moved too slow. That left the thriller spy category. Wouldn't that also be too close to the cats though, and just my life in general. Should I go ocean instead? Ugh choices are annoying.
"What spy movies you have?" I asked.
His eyes lit up excitedly and he began spewing off titles. And I picked one in a series I hadn't finished yet. Kyle looked very happy as he started the movie. Was he happy because he liked spies? Or had I done something to make him happy? I watched the screen, but focused on him through the side of my eyes. Why was he so hard to read!
"Are you okay with touching others?" Kyle suddenly asked, "Just wondering."
I tensed up and looked at my lap. How was he so stupidly straight forward!
I tried to focus and breathe so I wouldn't be all red, but I might have better luck sticking my face in a hot tub to cool it off. Thank goodness it was dark in the room except for the screen which had gone to a night scene. If Kyle left the blinds open I might of died from embarrassment.
"So okay then or no?" Kyle asked.
"Mmm." I replied and nodded.
He inched closer until he was right next to me on the couch. Ah darkness my friend, please don't go away and let him see my face.
"Still okay?" he asked.
"Mmm." I replied again not trusting myself to say more.
"Try again, Mmm, isn't an answer, I need a proper yes or no please." Kyle replied.
"I'm okay," I somehow mumbled.
He slipped an arm around my shoulders. "How's this?"
I stiffened in surprise.
It had been ages since someone got this close to me without me punching them.
I felt Kyle start to retract his arm, but I reached over and grabbed his wrist. It felt nice for once. It had been so long since, everything. I really didn't realize until now how much I missed someone snuggling with me.
He wrapped his arm around me gently and didn't do anything more. He just let me curl up against his side and stay there. Ah I wanted to stay here forever. Turns out, movies, are definitely not long enough and I forgot to keep track of if he liked the movie or not.
I'll just call it a win that I haven't passed out from heat stroke yet, that has to classify as an achievement.
"So do nefarious things require you to be up soon tomorrow? Or you have time for another movie?" Kyle asked.
"Another would be okay." I replied leaning my head against his shoulder, it has nothing to do with the fact that I don't want to leave yet.
(This is painful to watch, just marry him already and get to the kittens.)
(Stop watching, next date I'm leaving you behind even if I have to force a disconnect.)
(Oh so you've already accepted the second date? You humans move so slowly, how many dates do you need?)
