First Date

This was awkward...I can't even get out the door.

Dresses really aren't my thing, what do I wear? Do I dare ask Ryan? No terrible idea, hoddie? Too casual?

I slapped my face to make myself thing. If I was on the first date for a mission what would I wear?

I pulled out three potential sets of clothes, no make that two, I'm not wearing a dress for this.

Ah forget it. I tossed on a hoddie and sweats, this clothing is fine.

I ran the comb through my hair again, not that it needed it.

This wasn't even a hard mission, or a mission at all. I just had to show up, maybe play some games, watch a movie, eat food and leave. Literally the easiest thing ever, why the heck is this so hard! How many possible first date options even are there? Movie or food covers about 80% of first dates.

I tossed the comb roughly back onto the counter and glared at my reflection, nope something was still off, did I need to brush my hair again?

A hand knocked on my door and I jumped slightly before grumbling to myself and opening it.

"Ryan what's up?" I asked.

"You" she replied, "Have a date, and I'm here to make sure you don't miss it."

I stared at her. I should never have told her about it.

"Okay, I'll be ready in a minute." I headed back for my comb but Ryan caught my arm.

"You're fine pal." She shoved me out of my own room before sliding it shut behind her. "Let's go, look at me being a good wing man and walking you part way there."

"You are walking me across the hallway of my own apartment to another room a few feet away?"

"Yep!"

The audacity of this girl! She is kicking me out of my own place.

"Good luck, have fun, remember to smile!" Ryan turned around. "Oh and please do remember to knock and not spend the next hour out here." She giggled before disappearing.

I frowned watching her run off. Then I looked at the door, ah it was huge and imposing. Maybe I better go back and brush my hair again? I fidgeted with a foot tapping the floor lightly with my toes. Currently I was on time, but if I ran back I could easily be only two minutes late.

"So, uh, what's the plan?"

Kyle smiled, "Well I was thinking food, then maybe an activity? Aquarium sounded nice, or maybe a horse ride through the park?"

"I could snack." I replied, do I dare tell him horses and I aren't the best fit?

"Cool there is a really great little place in town and it shouldn't be a problem for two cats to jump a fence and have some dinner." He smirked.

I smiled back, the benefit of having a cat.

"Sounds fun." I replied standing up and tugging him after me. "What kind of food is it?"

"Chinese." Kyle smiled. "Your favorite right?"

"Already on the way to my heart through my stomach are you?" I playfully flicked his hair which was very unlike me, what is wrong with me of late?

We slipped out of the building careful to avoid being seen. Kyle elegantly slid into his panther form. His muscles rippled beneath his fur as he launched himself up the side of a few buildings and over.

Such a good looking cat form. Snow take some notes.

(Your crush sickens me. You know Night is from a different clan right?)

Blah, blah, don't care about the cat side of things.

Snow snorted and didn't reply again. Sassy cat, at least he tended to be quiet when annoyed and not loud.

We bounded across the ground and I tried to memorize the moment in my head. The moonlight sparkled on a lake as we ran past. I could run here slightly behind him all night. The way he leapt between the trees his paws leaving small footprints when he touched the ground in places.

Great mice, I really have lost it. Something is very wrong with me.

"Aww the town looks so pretty at night." I looked off a cliff face with Kyle standing beside me.

The city below glowed with night life. We changed to our human forms and slipped into the restaurant called The Lucky Little Dragon. It had a large painting of a red dragon that twirled around the yellow walls of the shop.

I smiled already loving the vibe of the place as we were seated at a booth.

"So what's the best dish?" I asked Kyle.

"I haven't found a bad one yet." He replied.

"Have you tried them all?"

"Only half the menu."

"That's a lot of eating out if you've only done it since we arrived. Aren't you supposed to be a health nut as a doctor or something?"

"This place is our groups' favorite hangout. I just tried bites of theirs each time we are here."

"Please tell me you didn't make a restaurant your base." I stated.

"You've been to our base though?"

"Joke." I shook my head, "Nevermind." I'm so messy this is painful.

"Sweet and sour chicken." Kyle said to the waiter. "Oh and some egg drop soup."

"Chicken lo mein and wonton soup please." I added.

"Any drinks?"

"Lemonade" I commented.

"Tea, green." Kyle added.

The lady left with our orders leaving waters on the table.

The service was fast and Kyle was right, the food was amazing.

"What do they put in this soup?" I asked loving the mix of spices. "Actually don't tell me. It might ruin the magic, tell me when I'm done with it."

A minute later the actual food was also brought out.

I picked up a piece of chicken on my fork with tantalizing scent pricking my senses. Was this a cat thing? Either way best food ever.

The lady returned with the receipt and I tried to hand her my card but Kyle blocked me and passed his own instead.

"I asked you out." Kyle smirked, "societal rules dictate I get to pay."

I glared at him in annoyance.

"Don't go looking too cute, we are in public." Kyle smirked and I had to refrain from smacking him as we got up and left.

We walked along the street admiring some shops and the lights.

This could all get destroyed if we failed. Everything that was beautiful and even the ugly parts of this planet, would all be gone, no more chances to improve.

"What up? You have that thinking way to deeply look on your face again." Kyle asked.

"Nothing." I shook my head slightly, "Just the cat stuff."

"You worried?"

"A bit, it's hard not to be. In theory there is a high chance I will have to kill my team destroy teammates." I sighed. "Greater good and all that right? What gives these cats the right to pick ten humans to determine the fate of all?"

"They are the stronger." Kyle replied, "This whole planet has been ruled by whoever is strongest for ages."

"Not helping." I flicked him with a finger.

"Well it is a bit later than I was planning." Kyle glanced at the sky, "Shall we just go back and watch a movie?"

I gulped, "A movie?"

As in, surrounded by darkness alone with a guy?

(Well aren't you dramatic, there are four other cats living at your place most of the time.)
