Kaos
I stepped out of my temple and in a shimmer of light, I appeared in the motel hallway, right in front of our room.
A second ago, I was holding Dhara's necklace and now, it was sitting in the hallway with no one in sight.
I burst into the room to find it empty and messy. Yara must have captured him. I clutched the necklace close, afraid to lose it. How was I going to find him now? My only chance of finding him was right here, clutched tightly in my hand.
GRRR...GRRR...GRRR.
I heard a muffled sound from the bed. It was the small object Dhara called a cellphone. I picked it up and flipped it open.
"Hello, Kaos...I have Dhara...you want him?" The voice I had come to hate came to life through the phone.
"where are you?" I grimly asked. "where the hell are you?" I yelled.
"easy...easy girl...He is safe with me... don't worry, I'll take care of him for you...I won't hurt him..." I heard her giggle "...just kidding! you have no idea how much pain he's enduring right now...what will you do now?" her giggling escalated to laughter
"you have no idea, how much I want to hurt you" I was seething "I am at the motel, come" I dropped the phone and it clattered at my feet.
I angrily swiped my hand over the desk, sending everything on it crashing to the floor. Why do I care so much? I have known this man for barely four days and here I am risking my existence as a god to rescue him, I have grown so attached to him, so much emotions towards him. I am yet to find what is so special about him that made me so attracted to him.
"WHYYYY!" I pulled at my braids. "why is trying to be human so frustrating!!" I plopped myself on the bed. "Revert, Naga" I will teach that human a lesson.
Author.
Creaking sounds interrupted the quiet room as Naga reverted to her true form. She curled up again, instantly falling asleep. Shutting her eyes was best for her captors for the meantime.
Yara and her men arrived at the motel, marching towards the room. Still asleep, they bundled her into a metal cage and loaded her up without any fuss from her.
She smiled at the sleeping god in the cage. She finally had her. With this power at her reach, she would become the most powerful in the world, she would have whatever she wanted, she would become a god.
"is that what you think?" Kaos suddenly mumbled. "that I would hand over my godship to you?" she sneered "you must be mistaken"
"You still wouldn't cooperate with me, Kaos." her red lips stretched into a smile "no matter...i have ways of getting you to do what I want" she stopped smiling. The car jerked to a slow stop and they took her out into the building.
"where is he?" she growled "where did you put him?"
"He's safe but not for long. His safety depends on you" Yara advised, she ordered Tekka to guard her "keep a close eye on her, I've got calls to make" she turned on her heel and headed a different direction.
"sneaky fox..." Tekka grinned, placing her on a table "you had my guys and I going in circles" he rattled the cage angrily "I don't like being made a fool of"
"you don't need me to make you look like a fool" she spat.
"what did you say?" he reached into the cage to grab her but she swerved to the side and caught his hand with her teeth. "ahhh!" the rest of the guards rushed to his aid, rattling the cage all at once but that didn't deter her from sinking her teeth into Tekka's hand, only letting go when Someone knocked the cage over to the floor.
The lock flipped open and admist the chaos she caused, she slipped out. She swiped out Dhara's necklace again and his scent instantly filled the air. She took a deep breath and began sprinting towards Dhara.
At that moment, Yara stepped out of the elevator and saw the running deity and took off after her. "Hey! I swear you men are a bunch of morons! Get her, dammit!"
Tekka's bloody hands dropped to his side and as if controlled, he pulled out his gun and started firing at his men. The sudden attacks directed at the guards also caused a fierce retaliation from those who were being shot at, escalating into a shoot out.
A single shot from Yara to Tekka's mindless head was all it took to stop the chaos. "I'm about ready to kill all of you imbeciles if I lose the fox!" she yelled in frustration and they scampered in the direction the fox ran to.
Kaos easily took out the guards guarding Dhara. She threw the keys to him with her snout and Dhara let himself out from his cell.
"I would start apologizing for leaving you behind but there is no time, we have to leave now!"
"There is another door right around the corner, i don't know where it leads to" he shrugged
"come on" she hurried him out towards the door "I can hear them coming" her breath hitched.
"we'll be fine, Kaos" he suddenly picked her up and burst through the door.
It was a lab. There were people clad in white strung up with tubes connecting to them and other people equally clad in white but different tending to them. Dhara quickly deduced this was probably where they were bringing in Kaos. They were going to experiment on her.
One face stood out of the lot to her. She hadn't been awake for long but she still remembered what the other gods looked like. How was she captured? who captured her too? Yara? Questions ran through her mind and her heart raced. If humans learned how to capture gods, this was definitely bad.
Strife, the missing god, laid on an examination table, tubes connected to her arms and chest. Although Dhara could see nothing was moving in or out of the tube but Kaos could see Strife's very essence being stripped away from her and it made her wonder whether the rest of the people here were forced or willingly being experimented on. The whole scene felt disgusting to her and she gagged.
"we have to help her. Go, Dhara! Find us a way out" she ordered
"but, I can't leave you here..." he countered "what if Yara takes you again"
"She will not" Dhara nodded and left. She hopped on Strife and kicked the latching tubes off of her and her essence returned. Her eye snapped open and hate immediately covered her form.
"Goddess...what...is going on? why are you here?" she cradled Kaos in her arms as she got off the table. "how did I get here?"
"Stories later, let's get out of here!"
"Help us too...please goddess" the others were definitely awake now and it was obvious they weren't here on their own volition.
"Stop right there, Kaos!" They were surrounded. "I won't let you destroy my life's work" Yara grabbed Strife and immediately withdrew as contact with her skin burned her.
"Touch me again filth and I'll burn your whole being." Strife spat "infact...I'm going to pay you back with your own coin" she smiled and her eyes flashed.
Yara's men began to drop one by one, writhing in pain, screaming for her to stop. Yara herself was already on her knees her hands clutching her head in pain.
"Yara, look at me" Kaos forced her head up and their eyes met "I warned you to stay away from me when I met you again at the base of the mountain...Yara you did not listen. Just what do you want from me?"
"I was a weak little girl from a forgotten town in the valley. War tore my family apart...I was left to fend for myself and my little brother. people took advantage of me because I was little and desperate but I strived...I hated and still hate being that weak little girl that couldn't protect her brother. Cliche I know, not a surprising story, I don't care! So I'll make a request, you are honor bound to grant me whatever I ask for." she grinned and Kaos shook her head.
"Put me down, Strife" she circled Yara "well, go on?"
"Grant me all the power in the world so I can hurt my enemies Kaos" she smiled and closed her eyes expectantly.
"I am honor bound to grant your requests, Yara but what you do not know is I also have the power to reject requests. Your world has enough monsters to plague it and I will not have a hand in making another." Her eyes glowed "So, Yara, I reject your request" a small draft blew in.
"No! you can't do this to me!" she yelled in anger, shaking off Strife's hold on her.
"yes I can and to make sure, I am taking your memories of me, Dhara and everything that led you to this from you" Kaos tipped her face up and kissed her forehead, pulling multiple thin blue threads out with her paw
"No... please."
"I will give you a new purpose. You shall spend the rest of your life, running away from me and living in fear of me and only when you are far enough will you truly be happy because if I set my eyes on you, It is a promise, I will kill you myself" The threads snapped and Yara fell to the ground limp. "come on, let them go and return home Strife, Indera is worried about you"
"He is?" she frowned "I highly doubt it...pfft" she laughed a little.
"The realm of gods is up in chaos with Indera on a rampage. He will not rest until he sees you safe and sound"
"I am such a small time god, he barely notices me, so what is the point of going back? I want to remain here with you...maybe"
"I cannot allow that. I am not your patron, Strife. If Indera did not know you exist, he will not keep the rest of the gods on their toes in order to find you and besides, my path is different from yours. Do not make me send you myself" she traced a symbol on the ground with her paw and light flared up from the spot.
"Fine, grant me this one request, goddess" she stepped into the light "Be happy" she disappeared.
"Be happy, huh? That is proving to be very difficult" she smiled sadly and faced the other people. "You are free to go back to wherever you came from" she began to leave but a little girl pulled her tail softly.
"Our Temples were destroyed. we can not go back and we also stand at the risk of withering away. Let us become one of your many forms."
"oh? and who might you lot be?"
The little girl gestured to the woman by her "she is a Sea goddess" she pointed at the two identical twins by the woman "and they are, gods of unknown powers"
"and you?"
"I am a death god" a crooked smile crept up her features. "we will gladly help you on your journey in exchange for a host" The smile grew wider.
