His First Lie

Disclaimer - (Cause fanfiction is tricky ground and I hope not to offend the creator of the original story and get sued)
I do not own "Darwin's Game", it belongs to its original creator Flipflops and Shū Miyama. This is only a fanfiction that I was inspired to write by the original work. Please support the official release. Most of the media - such as the art and illustrations, gifs, video's, etc. used in this fanfiction - are from the web. Thus, most of them aren't mine (because I really, really can't draw) unless mentioned. To fit the story, images are also edited by various apps and websites. So they aren't mine, just edited.
Also if you own a picture or Video that I found online, and you either want your name added, or me to take it down. Please contact me and we can talk it out. P.s. I also ask that you do not copy my work and publish it onto any other website.
If you're gonna use my idea, please ask me (If you ask nicely, I for sure, will agree). If I don't contact you within a week, then just assume I'm giving you the all clear and go for it. Just remember to credit me.
I will be writing out scenes even if my Oc isn't in them. As long as she's mentioned, or influencing the characters in some way. Or maybe because it influences the story. This may seem a bit annoying. But that's just how I write. I like to embed my characters into the story line. Because of this, most of the dialogue/scenes will come from the original work.

{Third P.O.V.}
Kaname stared down at his phone as multiple messages from Darwin's Game appeared on the screen.
FRIEND 'HAMADA' IS DEAD
YOU HAVE WON THE RANKED MATCH.
YOU HAVE GAINED 10 POINTS FROM THIS MATCH.
YOUR CLASS HAS RISEN TO D3.
YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE GACHA FUNCTION.
FRIEND 'KYODA' IS DEAD.
The last one brought back memories of pixels carved into stone, with blood painted on the edges, causing the alpha to bury his face into his people, cursing, "Dammit!" Staring at his phone, another thought crossed his mind, "I'm on my own now. What am I supposed to do? Kyoda and Hamada are both gone. Should I tell Shinozuka about it? No, I can't get him mixed up in this." Despite all the uncertainties clouding his mind, there was one thing he was dead set on, he couldn't get his mate caught up in all this.
"Kaname." The blond in question called, sticking her head into the room, "You ok?" She asks, her brows furrowing.
The boy's eyes widened, realizing his scent must have been giving his inner turmoil away. His mind raced as he quickly thought up an excuse. "I'm fine. I just remembered I have an English essay I need to hand in on Monday. I waited till the last minute. Now I only have two days to write a five page essay. Sucks right."
"Yeah, want me to help?" Anna offers, blue eyes shining.
Kaname shook his head, "No, it's fine. I've got it. Plus, don't you have to walk Mis. Disaki's dog?" He asks, trying to change the topic. He couldn't exactly have her help him on an assignment that doesn't exist.
The omega glanced at the clock, "You're right. It is about time for that." She nodded. When she found out that Mis. Disaki's mother was in the hospital, she had agreed without hesitation to feed and walk the dog, well their neighbor returned to her home town for a week.
Just another reason why Kaname couldn't let Anna get involved. She was too kind. She was the type to bring presents to sick kids, dog sit, and help old ladies cross the street. As flashes of a man being disintegrated with pixels flashed his mind, he knew there was no way he could let her get involved.
Anna grabbed one of his hoodies, that was hanging on the door, and slipped it on. The material reached to half of her thighs, and she needed to fold the sleeves several times in order to see her hands. Overall, it looked like she was practically swimming in the blue material. Kaname smiled fondly at how cute she looked.
It wasn't that uncommon to see girls and omega's in male clothes, with scents that didn't match their own. It was a sign that they were mated, and to back off. A way to protect them from unwanted attention.
And their rain and roses, and pinewood and mint scents blending together would do exactly that.
"You know, you could join me." Anna offered, smiling.
As tempting as the offer to take a nice walk with his mate, and clear his head was. Kaname knew he couldn't. Not until he got this Darwin's Game stuff figured out. "It's fine. I still have things I need to work on."
"Ok." The omega replied, pouting a bit at the rejection. "Just don't study too long, K."
Kaname nodded, turning his attention back to the app once he heard the front door close with a click.
"In the first place, what is this Darwin's Game app?" He asked himself, opening the app he saw:
GET A RARE ITEM!
CURRENT POINTS HELD: 40
POINTS REQUIRED: 1
"A gaucha function?" Kaname asked, almost in disbelief. "Are you serious?" He decides to slick it. He watches as a ball rolls around the screen and then opens to reveal the icon of a gun. He hears a thud near the entrance, causing him to become alert and get up off his futon.
"What was that noise?" he asks out loud. 'Shit, I've got a bad feeling about this.' He thought to himself as he slowly walked towards the entrance.
There, he sees a brown rectangular package. Taking it back to his room, he opens the seal with shaky fingers. There, inside he sees a gun, and a white rectangular box, which he assumes holds the ammo.
He chuckles, "I hate this game." He then looks back down at his phone, "Anyway, I'd better investigate this app. If another match suddenly begins like yesterday's, there's no way I'd survive."
With that, another terrifying thought strikes him, 'I can't be around Anna either.' He thought with a shiver as he remembered the police officer who'd become collateral with his fight against Panda.
'Maybe it would be better for me to spend my day outside the house, where I won't be a danger to Anna.' Kaname thought.
Just then, he heard the door getting unlocked, and quickly threw the gun into his backpack. Anna walked in, stretching her hands above her head.
"Have a nice walk?" Kaname asks, trying to sound casual.
"Uh huh." The girl nodded, "Going somewhere?" She asks, pointing at his backpack.
Kaname's eyes followed her finger, "Yeah," he answered, deciding to build on his previous lie, "I'm gonna go to the library to work on my essay. Wanna come with me?" He offers, knowing that she couldn't because she always tutored her best friend on Saturdays.
"Can't." Anna shook her head, "Gotta tutor Ayato." Kanama offers her a smile, "Although, we could get some work done in the library too, and keep you company." She smiles brightly, nearly causing Kaname's heart to stop.
"I think his apartment might be better. He already runs at the first sight of a book, sure you wanna take him where he'll be walled in by them." He laughs nervously.
The omega hums, "You do have a point." She smiles, "Have fun, and study hard. K. I can help you go over your essay tomorrow." She tells him, giving him a quick kiss.
Kaname pulls her in and gives her another kiss, letting it linger as if it may be the last time he may get to hold her because it just might, before forcing himself to walk out the door, before the guilt of his lie could swallow him home. Each step he takes, becomes heavier and heavier.
He had lied to her.
He had lied to her face.
And she believed him without hesitation.
Why would she doubt him?
He hadn't ever lied to her before.
He hadn't given her any reason to doubt him.
But she had given him one now.
His first lie, out of no doubt many more to come.
*****
The chapters short, but I felt like this was a good place to end it. Plus the next couple of chapters are going to be quit long. So I figured, this would be a nice, short chapter. I personally prefer long chapters, but get that it's easy to lose focas when it comes to them. So this was a nice, short, sweet chapter for all the people who prefer them.
