Finding more monsters. [Day 9]

Continuing with the forest hunt we head further in. Trees mould and change going from the large thick trees to more spindly trees with their roots crawling out the ground like they are deranged beings escaping from hell and the tree is their weighted prison.

Leaves turn from a lush green to a darker vivid green, reaching high into the sky and only allowing pockets of light to shine through into the dark undergrowth beneath the sea of green.

Moss has also taken a loving to this with it nearly covering every part of it giving the ground a squishy spongy feel as you step around. It might be odd to say but it also smells amazing like fresh cut grass mixed with a small amount of fruit to give it a unique smell.

Poking themselves out when they can are small patches of white dandelion mixed with purple foxgloves making their presence known.

I am so glad that I decided to come to this world this makes it worth it.

While I have been taking in the senary Rex and Freya have taken it upon themselves to make it into their playground climbing and darting around the tree roots exploring under every nook and cranny. They seem to be in a game of chase where Rex is chasing Freya, and they seem to be enjoying themselves so I will keep the lookout.

On the lookout, I continue into the forest where I find a group of Stags just eating the grass but what is interesting about this is that there is a new one among them.

[Race: Zirn, Race: Female, Rank: F+]

The evolved form of Stag and often the protects of the group. Often docile and only agitated when it or the group is attacked. They can be deadly effective due to their incredible speed and deadly sharp antlers that can even pierce iron armour.

Accidently walking out into the group, she looks directly towards me then continued to eat. I kind of have a rule in life and that is if you do something in life then you should also expect it back. I followed this with the monsters that I have encountered so far. They tried to kill me so they should be ready for me to try and kill them.

So far, no stag or Zirn have attacked me and have never caused me harm so I will leave them to enjoy their simple lives.

Me: "Come, Rex, Freya let us continue."

Leaving the group behind us we head on our way trying to find the next target.

*sniff* *sniff*

I can smell blood.

Following the trial, it doesn't take me long to find where the blood is coming from. There is a gathering of horned rabbits but like many of the creates in this area so far these were evolved horned rabbits.

[Race: Triple horned rabbits, Sex: Male, Rank: F-]

Evolved to maximise piercing power as why create one wound when you can create three. With stronger hind legs they also have fast and high jumping power.

These look just the same as the horned rabbits but now on their foreheads, they have one large horn and then two smaller horns next to it.

The reason that I can smell blood is that they just killed a group of Eira who was laying on the ground dead with large amounts of circular horn wounds.

Not just their attacking abilities have evolved but also their hearing as even though I did not expose myself they seem to have spotted me.

The group of ten starts to rush towards me either jumping high in the air or staying low to the ground and advancing fast.

Me: "Rex, Freya attack when they are in the air that is when they are vulnerable and can't escape your attacks."

It is looking like this is going to be a game of duck hunt. Grabbing my knives, I wait for some of the rabbits to go high into the sky and when I see them start to come down, I throw my dagger.

I manage to get one and then another in quick succession before the ones on the ground are getting too close to me.

Grabbing my sword, I decided to lower the numbers with the help of my two companions. Swinging my sword low basically under the rabbits I cause them to jump into the air to avoid the attacks allowing for Rex and Freya to grab them out of the air where they are defenceless.

With two caught by Rex and Freya and four more in the air, the last two on the ground dive straight for my legs with their fast speed.

> Health: 42/42 -> 39/42

Whilst moving my leg one managed to cut my calf whilst the other just misses. God, they are like annoying ants that you don't see. So doing the only reasonable thing I drop-kick the rabbit that managed to cut me sending him into a tree where I can hear his bones crunch. I kind of feel bad for that but if you try to kill expect to be killed back.

Bringing my blade back up from the ground I quickly drive it down on the other rabbit that attacked my legs as he is still in the air making my blade go straight through his body.

Getting back so that I am not attacked by the four other rabbits I look to watch what they do when I see that Rex has gone on the offensive and goes to attack the rabbits using the same strategy that I used.

Seems the rabbits learned from the last time and instead of jumping backwards they jump forwards. I thought that Rex was going to get hit but instead, it looks like Rex and Freya have used their big brains and expected this as Rex then jumps to the side whilst Freya jumps from behind Rex to the opposite side of him squeezing the rabbits in. The rabbits stuck in the air can only plead for their lives as Rex and Freya bite one then slash the other with their sharp claws.

Impressive work. I feel so proud of them.

With the battle over it's time for EXP.

I also, make sure not to forget to pick up the daggers. Also, not to toot my own horn but those knife throws were smooth as frick.

Whilst we continue to explore the woods I watch as Rex and Freya are playing again, I realise that I haven't identified Rex and Freya for a while.
