Chapter 121

Brody took Violet to a nice cafe in downtown and the warm, cozy atmosphere was a relaxing change. The morning had been a disaster and the brief break was just what she needed.

"I know it's not the Mc D's dumpster, but I think it will do." 

"Darn, I was looking forward to some good old bacteria and flu strains. I've been needing a good dose of tetanus shots, anyway." She laughed. "You're funny, Mr.Ashford. Are you always this way because you seem so different from what I've seen on the news or social media?"

"I try to be. When the six-foot stiletto nightmare isn't breathing down my neck." He looked over the menu. "Steph can be a little much."

"This won't get you in trouble with your wife, will it? I know it's a business lunch, but she doesn't seem to like me much. I didn't even think about that because I was just excited to meet you." Violet drank from her water glass.
