Could have invited you!

Scarlet pov

"Why? Were you expecting someone else here?" I asked as I tilted my head. He looked horrified and crawled backwards only to get his back touched by the seat of the carriage. His face was looking white as if he had seen the ghost. This made me laugh.

"Why and how are you here?" i rolled my eyes at his dumb question.

"The question should be how and why you are here? You are too brave for a mere slave. Have you not heard my name or how I punish the slaves?" my voice was cold and the man shivered.

"I am not a slave, I was fooled to be there." he retorted and I chuckled.

"That did not change the fact that I have paid a high amount for you. So, you better behave. And if you really want to go then pay back the amount and you are free to go!" he fumed listening to my reply. I knew that he did not have a penny and the way he follows loyalty, he was never going to have it. That made wonder did this dumb man left my ruby earing too because he did not want to have that did not belong to him. But if i would ask, he would know that i was the girl he had saved and it was not the right time for him to know that.

The fear he has for me, should stay there as it was!

"Now if you behave well then you can stay alive but if you still have a death wish then I can only oblige. The decision is yours." I adjusted myself in the seat only to feel the gaze of Caleb fixed on me but I avoided it. I did not want to indulge him with the liberty of asking everything too.

I noticed that new marks were formed on his skin. There were cuts, injuries, wounds and his whole back was swollen but surprisingly there was no permanent mark or scar on his skin.

"How did you get these marks?" He did not seem to be replying as he continued to look at the ground as if a ghost would come out from there if he did not guard it well.

"I see that you are still in a mood of disobeying. Caleb, where is Morchel?" I saw his eyes widen and he moved with the speed of lighting.

"I got injured when I was running. Some thorns and bushes when I was trying to hide at night. To earn some money I did the work of loading and unloading which made my back swell a bit.'' He spoke like a parrot, making me smile.

"See, it was not that difficult. Was it?" he shook his head before I could ask for Morchel again. It was a mana stone that was used to create spark and light the rooms but at the same time it could be used as a good weapon. The lightning in a human body gave them a shock which was very painful.

This was most used on slaves to keep them in check.

"My lady, we are here." I heard the coachman say and I nodded. The guard came and opened the door but I remained seated as I knew the man was still thinking of running away. It was written all over his face.

How did he even think of running when he could not even hide his basic feelings from others. Such a naive and innocent pet!

"I have forgiven you for the small trick you have played in the inn. But I have never been a patient woman. So, if it continues, I will make sure that you will not even pray for your death from this filthy mouth of yours. I do not believe in giving second chances, let alone be third." my face had my signature sweet smile that created goosebumps all over his body.

"So, instead of making plans for running, you better think about how you can serve me better if you want to live your rest of life smoothly." though he was nodding i could see, he had still not given hopes. But I was sure, soon he would!

I walked out of the carriage without giving him a second glance but I heard both of their footsteps behind me. It was a hectic day and all I wanted was to rest for a while so that I could start my work and investigate him too. I saw all the servants standing in a queue waiting for me, but their faces had that anxious look, which showed that they had made a mistake that instantly made me frown.

"What is it?" I asked and they looked at each other. Why does everyone want to test my patience today!?

"My lady." I was about to scold them but stopped to see the crown prince walking towards me from the garden area.

"Your highness, why did you take the trouble to come here.'' I said with a polite smile.

"Ah, how could that be. I heard that your fiance tried to kill you. I was so worried about you. But look at the other nobles instead of feeling sympathy for you. They sent me a bunch of complaints about how you forced them to see your brutal killing and even imprisoned the baron's daughter.

I really did not understand but I am bound by the rules too. So, I am here to investigate the matter personally." said the man who had lured that slave to kill me and even spread rumors against me and proved me as an evil witch. Not that I was not one, yet every time he acted in front of me, I got nauseated.

"The nobles are telling the truth, your highness. I have forced them to see the punishment of the man who dared to betray me and I have not only imprisoned the baron's daughter but killed her the same way too. I enjoyed the way she was crying when I peeled her skin slowly until only the bones remained. I wish I could have invited you to see the scenario."
