New Pet!

Evans pov

I looked at the man in awe. He was tall, handsome and most of all he was wearing the clothes made of finest silk. He was not looking less than any character in the fairytale books with his fair skin, golden hair and sharp features.

He was standing like a proud man there but his voice was very calm and humble. His eyes were soft and there was a smile on his lips all the time. He was completely in contrast with the woman who had become his mistress.

But when the man looked at me his smile flattered and his face turned into disgust. Well, I was sure that I was looking very unkempt with the dirt all over my body.

"The nobles are telling the truth, your highness. I have forced them to see the punishment of the man who dared to betray me and I have not only imprisoned the baron's daughter but killed her the same way too. I enjoyed the way she was crying when I peeled her skin slowly until only the bones remained. I wish I could have invited you to see the scenario." she replied without even trying to hide the happiness she was feeling by taking lives. Her nonchalant chirpy voice left me and the man stunned and my jaw dropped to the ground.

Not even men could kill a woman that gruesomely without even remorse. In fact, she was standing here and stating her deeds properly. Now all I could pray was that the prince would arrest her and send her to prison. So that I could run away and live freely.

"Oh, is that so. They must have irked you a lot." said the man laughing awkwardly and I wondered if there was a new way to handle the crimes. The woman was a murderer and she was accepting her crimes so openly then why was he trying to be sweet instead of dragging her to the prison. And here I thought that I was finally free.

"Oh, you have no idea. How much I wanted him to be alive again so that I could kill him one more time in a more gruesome way." the woman even had the heart to chuckle in the end as if she had told the joke. While my back filled with sweat. Even the man who was trying his best to sound friendly felt the loss of words.

"Anyways, i will try my best to cover the matter so that you would not need to come to the palace for an audience." said the man still maintaining that smile on his face that was looking worse than glares.

"You do not need to do that. I will enjoy coming to the palace as it had been months when i was last there.'' I wonder if she has lost her mind. The man was not inviting her for tea or dinner but was telling her that she could have a trial run on her and she could be punished then what was with her attitude then.

And why was she there a few months ago!? There was no way that she would have been invited there on a good occasion. Did that mean she had killed someone a few months ago too? The more I think about it, the more it seems to be the case.

"Then."

"You do not need to do any favor to me, your highness. I want the case to run so that I can know how that weak slave got his hands over such a rare poison and even get the courage to use it. There are many queries that I even want to ask. So, I will see you in the royal palace as soon as you send me the summons.

But for now, I would have invited you in for tea, but I am very tired and would prefer to rest for a while." the smile of the man once again faltered as she continued to do his insult.

The way she was addressing him, he was none other but the future emperor, the crown prince of the empire. Yet she was treating him like another lowly noble or a rich commoner who did not have any respect. That made me wonder how powerful was she that even the emperor needed to give respect to her or was it because of her crazy attitude that he was afraid that she would attack on her too.

"Of course, I heard that you went to the auction to fill the place of older slaves. I must say this is a fine piece. You will enjoy its company a lot.'' He looked at me as if I was a piece of furniture or goods that could be used and discarded anytime.

Suddenly his insults did not feel that bad! Shouldn't a prince should have pity for us and do something to help us. "Then I take my leave." he added as she did not respond to him at all.

"Yes, Marry will escort you out." she did not even wait for him to leave as she turned and entered the palace.

He stomped his feet and gritted his teeth as a young girl followed him towards his carriage with her head bowed low.

Only then did I get the chance to look at the palace. And my eyes widened. It was a piece of art. The palace was large enough that even though I needed to bend my neck, I was still not able to see the end. It was painted in bright and beautiful colors with fountains at the entrance and a wide garden behind me which was unending.

The place was so bright and cheerful just opposite to the personality of its owner. Even from inside it was full of life with the decoration of beautiful paintings on the wall. Bright and colorful furniture and flowers decorated in big vases. The statues of man and woman in the corners with bright smiles made me think, did she have a split personality ?

"So, you are the new pet of the mistress?"

"......."
