Chapter 10

It's been a month since Yun Sera started working at JinSui Company. At first she was only dealing with things inside the office, after which, Jinyi started to bring her during lunch meetings or outside the company meet ups.

This is to give her more experience and Jinyi wants her to expand her views.

Every time, she watches Jinyi deal with clients and observes diligently. She also started studying different languages which could help her understand foreigners during meetings.

During this time, her hand will be full at work during the day and she would stay up late at night to study. Jinyi couldn't do anything for her. He was always the one defeated during this kind of argument.

His wife was so capable that he was scared he couldn't handle her anymore. But watching her so determined and always hearing her that it was for him, he felt defeated. Who told him to marry such a capable woman?

Today, they were outside the company to meet with local clients. The meeting took place at a hotel owned by Jinsui Corporation. After two hours of discussion, the men engaged themselves in a casual talk after lunch. This time, Sera excuse herself to go to the comfort room.

Jinyi watch her leave, it was only after she was gone did he turn back to his colleagues.

"Seriously man, where did you get such a capable assistant?" Gu Xijin asks in exclamation.

"Yes, yes. Ms. Yun is really capable. She handles things too well." Li Muyin added with a frown on his face.

Jinyi looks at this indignant bunch and waves his hand dismissing the topic.

"We were so shocked when you told us you would bring an assistant over. Who would be so great that Lord Jin gives his approval?" instead of dropping the topic, Xijin added fire on it.

Who didn't know that Jin Jinyi was so meticulous and no other capable man could pass his requirements? Much more a woman.

"Seriously, the first time I saw Miss Yun, I thought she was a frail-looking, cry baby. I never thought she could handle things this well. I envy you, bro." Hu Minmin click his tongue and shook his head.

All of them had the same sentiment running on their mind. If Yun Sera was working with them. How great would that be?

Jinyi look at them with a blank look but deep inside, he felt proud of Sera. Of course. Who told his wife to be such a great and capable woman? Who told him to have such great luck meeting her?

Meanwhile, Yun Sera went to the comfort room to wash her hands and look at herself in the mirror. She let out a sigh of relief and held her chest. Luckily, she didn't make any mistakes in today's meeting.

Yesterday, when Jinyi suddenly told him she would be coming with him, she felt flustered and nervous. She never had been in a meeting before. Those things were either handle by Dong Ze or his assistant. She, on the other hand, remains in her own room doing her job as usual. This kind of experience was new to her and she was scared witless. What if she made mistake and make him lose face?

How could she handle it? But luckily, she did well today. She was already done washing her hands when the door opened accompanied by laughter.

Sera stiffened on her toes when she heard a familiar voice. She turned around and saw her step-sister walking inside with her friends.

"Oh, who do we have here?" Yun Lili snorts disgustingly. Looking at her like she was some dirt in a pile. Yun Sera shivered and subconsciously step back.

"Is this your sister? She's so plain." Yun Lili smirks hearing the comment of her friend.

"What do you expect, her mother surely is also plain and dirty." Yun Lili said haughtily. Her eyes skim her from head to toe and notice she was wearing an office outfit.

She frowned and looked confused. Didn't her father tell her that he froze all recruitment for Yun Sera? Why is she wearing executive attire then?

"What are you doing here?" Yun Lili asks her grabbing her arm unceremoniously.

Yun Sera panicked and tug her arm away but Lili had a firm grip on her arm making her wince in pain.

"Answer me bitch or I'll beat you here." Lili's tone lowered and Sera widened her eyes in fear.

When she says beat her. She would definitely do it. Regardless of the place. Given her previous experience at the Yun residence, Yun Sera unconsciously developed a submissive behavior.

"I-I was in a business meeting," she answered, lowering her head.

"Business meeting?" the two women laugh out loud.

"Who would be so foolish to hire you? Didn't they know that Dad freeze your name already? What idiot company did hire you? I'll have Daddy banished them again." Yun Lili grin at her.

"Let me go." Yun Sera forcefully pull her arm away and she runs off as soon as she escapes her grip. The three women roared in laughter watching her flee for dear life.

Yun Sera tap her chest to calm her nerve. That was too frightening for her. She did not expect she would see Yun Lili here. Aside from her father, the Yun sibling scare her the most.

She held her trembling hand and curse herself. After she calmed a bit, she return to her seat.

"What's wrong, why did you take long?" Jin Jinyi asks quietly. Though it was like a whisper, Yun Sera flinch and jump on her seat.

Jin Jinyi frowned and his forehead forms a knot. He looks at her pale face and he knows something is wrong.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I just got..." Sera tried to explain but couldn't find the right words to say. She pick up a glass of water and drank it.

Jinyi saw her hands trembled and his suspicion grew larger. After which, Jin Jinyi adjourned their meeting and went back to their own offices.

While in the car, Jin Jinyi looks at Sera with worry.

"Sera, what happened? Did something happened to you earlier?" Jin Jinyi asks again.

Yun Sera shook her head but didn't look at him, she couldn't look at him. Sera hold her hand firmly until it was paled. Jinyi grab it and found it cold.

"What's wrong? Can you tell me?"

Sera still shook her head and pursed her lips tightly. Jinyi let out a sigh and look straight ahead.

"Even if you won't tell me, I would definitely know it. If you don't want me to overturn that place, you should tell me now."

Yun Sera looks at him in disbelief. She trusts him. If he said it, he will do it. She open her mouth but couldn't speak a word. She bit her lip and a tear fell from her eyes.

Jin Jinyi got flustered upon seeing her cry.

"It hurts, I'm scared." she cried loudly. Jinyi got even more flustered when he heard her painful cries.

"What hurts? Did someone hurt you? Why didn't you tell me? Who scared you?" he didn't know what to do. Her tears were like knives stabbing his heart. The sounds of her cry pounded on his chest and it hurts.

He pulls her into his embrace and hushes her. He rubs her back, trying to comfort her.

"Tell me what hurts, can you tell me?" he ask again, this time his voice was gentle that he was even surprised by himself.

Yun Sera lifted her right arm and quietly sob.

Jin Jinyi get rid of her coat and rolled the sleeves of her clothes. A purplish bruise came into sight making his face darker.

"Who did this?" he gritted his teeth with anger.

"Yun Lili." Sera cried like a child that finally found someone to tell on.

"Yun family?" Good, good. They must be too good. Hurting his Jin Jinyi wife all over again.

"Li Shin, let us go back to the villa, Madam is not feeling well," he instructed.

Yun Sera instantly fell asleep as soon as her body laid on the bed. He called Li Hongji and have him check her up.

"It's nothing serious, she just needs rest but to be assured, don't leave her alone for the time being, have someone on her side. We don't want anything to happen to her as the previous time." Li Hongji reminded.

Jin Jinyi also thought of this and he nods his head.

"Why don't you call someone from the old house? I know how busy you are. And you won't like a grown man like me to attend to your wife, right." Hongji teased.

"Yeah, I call Grandma." he absentmindedly got his phone and dialed a number.

When his call got through, he heard her mom talking in the background.

"Grandma."

"God boy, you called finally. Your mom won't believe me that you had a wife, already. Come talk to her."

"Grandma, can you go accompany Sera for a while? I have something urgent to handle today and Sera is not feeling well, it is dangerous for her to be left alone."

"Oh, what happens, I'll go over. Poor Sera. I'll go. I'll go... Wait for me, alright". He heard her say and hung up the phone.

"I'll be leaving some anti-depressant pill for her and sleeping pills in case she can't sleep. But I won't recommend it for her to use every day. It's bad for the body." Hongji said and pass Jinyi the meds she needed.

"Have the old Madam call me if something crop up."

"Thanks."

"Now that's new. You're welcome." Hongji laugh and left him.

Jinyi looks at the medication on his hand begrudgingly. Why does Sera have to drink this stuff? He felt bad for her.

"Sir, Old Madam, and Madam are here." a maid called from the outside. He look at Sera for the last time and went down to received his Mother and grandmother.

"Grandmother, mother."

"Silly boy, how long are you planning to keep it from your mother?"

"I'm planning to have her meet you this weekend but something happened. Since you're here, you can meet her then." Jin Jinyi was in low spirit and her mother could see it. She patted her son's arm.

"What happened?" it was his grandmother asking.

"I don't really know myself. We attended a business meeting today at lunch after she came back from the restroom, she became like this. She panicked attacked and won't calm down. Hongji had to used sedatives to make her sleep."

Jinyi told them as they walk back to his room. Inside laid a small girl in a white comfy dress. Her complexion was pale and her brows were furrowed as if she was having a nightmare.

Old Madam Jin went towards the bed and brush the sweat forming on her forehead.

"Poor girl, she must be scared witless."

Madam Jin went ahead and look at the woman lying on the bed. She looks scrawny and slim. Then she looks at his son's large frame. Then her eyes turn back to the girl, noticing a purplish bruise on her arm.

"You didn't hurt her, right?" his mother turn towards her suspiciously.

"Mom, I won't hurt her. I did not do it. It's her sister." he said flustered. Why would he hurt his wife?

"Sister? Why would her sister hurt her?"

"I don't know, but based on her scaredy reaction, it is not just today. I don't know what kind of life she live through when she was at the Yun residence but I know it wasn't all good. Those people..." they treated his Sera like thrash and he won't forgive them.

"Yun family? Good, they must be tired of living. Son, you must give justice to my daughter-in-law."

"Alright, Mom," Jinyi answered obediently. Of course, he won't leave them unscathed. No matter what happens. After checking that Sera was still sleeping, he went straight back to the office. The faster he can finish, the sooner he could get home.

Jun Mei saw the Ceo came back but she couldn't find Sera with him. She frowned a bit but shrug it off.

It was almost seven in the evening when he came back to the mansion.

He found his grandmother on the lounge, sitting by the phone. When the old woman saw him arrive, she hung up the phone and went to him.

"She woke up earlier, she seems calmer now, your Mom made her some porridge, have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet, I'm going to check on her first. Grandma, thank you."

"Oh it's nothing, I'm glad you called. I really like that granddaughter-in-law you brought us." Old Madam Jin smiled happily.

Jin Jinyi walk up the stair and went to his room. When he opened the door, he found his own mother sitting on the bed watching over his wife.

" You're back already. "

" Yes, Mom. How is she? "

" She's good, she got nightmares, I think. You got it too when you were a kid, so I know what to do." his mother said and look at her own son.

"Seriously, Jinyi, this girl is way too young, how did she end up being your wife?" Madam Jin was indeed suspicious. Although it was the first time she saw Sera, she knows she was a gentle child. Her petite frame and small face give her an aura of a sweet gentle girl. And she couldn't comprehend how his strong, hot-tempered, and cold son met such a lovable girl.

"Mom, it's a long story and we are also legally married."

"You didn't hold a ceremony for her."

"I will do it soon. Just gives us more time."

"Don't bully her to much. She looks small. How can she take you?"

"Mom."

"Fine, fine. Mom won't say anything. Just don't let her get hurt again." Qin Xia really like this daughter in law. And she couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
