Hannah sat at the dinner table with Joseph. She was speechless as Joseph explained the current situation. "This is your mother's note." Said Joseph as he handed her a worn out piece of paper with her stepmother's signature. Hannah with trembling hands reached for the paper. His eyes started to water when she read the contents of the note.

"How did you get this paper?" Hannah asked. "What did they do to get you this paper, sir?" he asked again.

"I've paid off your stepmother's debt. You can go back to your house in peace." said Joseph.

"How can you pay my stepmother's debt this much?" asked Hannah in surprise.

"They started threatening your life, how can I stay silent?" Joseph looked at Hannah.

"Now this note is yours, and that means I owe you, sir." Hannah said.

"How did you think you'd owe me that much?" Joseph asked Hannah. He realized that that much value could never be paid to him by Hannah.
