Chapter 24

Dawn had risen on the land. The world had gone quiet. No birds nor wind just silence. The feeling was lost. But Hen never let us feel defeated. He suffered the same as us. I wonder what he's feeling now after what happened last night.

Is he defeated or is he pushing somewhere in his mind? As a general he must stay focused, or more are going to die and well lose this war. The beast-men who had been sent ahead to fortify where worried. I can see it in their eyes that there wondering are they going to have put us under chains again.

"Everyone we must be ready. They are not too far from where we are, everyone must help one another! Let's move!"

Hen wasted no time getting his army in line. He is always remains calm. I find it fascinating. I take in my surroundings. Very soon this area will be layered under blood and steel. The Lazare army was close. After near 6 hours we were ready.

Terra had taken her archers on the hill next to us. Infront of them was a much larger force then what we were facing. They had split up their force into three. But we had no idea where the third was. General Hen was more concern about it than most.

"Sir?" One of his warriors asked. "The third force. Have a scout find them." "Yes sir." Hen looks to me. Let's begin then." He signals to fire the first waves of arrows. This time they had their much heavier armored knights in the front.

The arrows bounced off them because of the curved shaped of the armor but still it did dent or put holes in certain areas of their armors. The second force made their way up the hill which people call the giant's head had tired the Lazare after trying to climb it.

The first knights charged at us. I drew my axe ready to fight. Others ready their weapons. We had dug ourselves in a ditch with large tree sharped into spears. We charged at the Lazare with no fear. But in my head, I was wanting to turn back. There were times I slowed down my speed and would pick up again until I finally got close enough were I can never turn back.

Shield smashing against shield it was like playing tug a war. The beast men had pushed them back breaking the formation. They cut down so many with ease.

The battle continued on for a long time. We were more agile than the knights. The first wave had been cut down and tired out.

"Captain Loid. I believe this is the time to use those horses now."

Loid nobs and signals for the cavalry attack. Hen yells to call back to the ditch. We take our positions and hold up the wooden pikes. The cavalry had run right at us. The pikes piecing the horses.

We staggered backwards from the force of the horse. We can't stop them all! Their going right pass us!

They had tripped trying to run into the ditch. Some horse had broken their own leg in the steep ditch. The knights died from the weight of the horse when they fell on them as well. It's how I envision a battle would look like.

I my attacks cut through the bodies of the knights. The beast-men presences were a factor. But the way to fight beast-men warrior. Is too overwhelmed them with numbers.

Terra and her group are now in a hand-to-hand combat. Servin hasn't done anything yet. He's just watching.

A Lazare knight suddenly attacked with his halberd. I parried it and cut the knights head off. King Arnell notices me out of all the people in the battlefield. Servin with disgruntled attempted to enter the battle.

"Don't interfere mage. My man is gaining the upper hand in numbers. General Henkeva formation will break."

"Of course, Captain Loid."

More and more knights swarmed us. Our forces were being pushed back. The Lazare formation consist of two fronts of spears and halberds while the rest with shorter weapons stayed behind. The range of the long weapons gave us no openings. They soon placed their shield in between the long weapons a formed a wall.

Not a single fighter attacked them. We are in stand stale until they move first. Everyone is scared. That defensive formation complicated the battle. There are no gaps we could get through. To be completely honest a beast-men could run through it.

To many of us are scared. The fear of dying after being a slave to them is triggering their anxiety. I know at that time we a beast-men needed to encourage them. Hen could not do it because he never experienced their life.

Neither has Terra. But I have. I'm not good with speeches. I can only lead by example. Beast ascension. I close my eyes and feel the world of mana around. The mana pool.

I was back in the world I was in when I used Beast ascension. The cat was nowhere to be seen. A magic circle appears from the water below me. It was the symbol of the same cat that I saw. I reach toward it letting it consume me.

I had obtained beast ascension once again.

Everyone was surprised by my sudden power. I notice a change as well. I feel much lighter. And the mana is flowing smoothly in my body.

"Servin! What is that!?"

"...It's time we make our first appearance...Captain Loid." "Fine...both Henkeva and Terra are a problem and so is half-bread."

Terra was impressed and confused as everyone on the battlefield. I take charge at the knights, easily breaking through their formation. Hen charged in behind me. The fear our army had was gone.

The battle had continued on. My power was surging higher and higher. My attacks cut right through the armor they wore. They were like ants.

Hen sword fighting style was unique it fast. Terra fire magic was immense. We can win this battle. But we must hurry my form will not last long. Servin and another of who's name I don't know appeared.

"Servin."

"It's been a long while mute. I see your different now. And general Henkeva, it's an honor to meet one of the greatest battlefield minds of this age."

"Hm... hello Loid."

"..."

"So, this how its goanna work for the three of you. Oh, and greetings miss Terra." Ivalyo is right. This guy's aura is disturbing I sense how twisted his mana is.

"You people are fighting the wrong side general."

"I don't think so. I feel were fighting the people we need to fight and there right here in this battlefield."

"Then you'll see how wrong you were." Servin casts a spell raising the earth around us. Were a high in the air. "Is this high enough captain."

"Perfect. Now we don't have to worry about going all out now."

Loid draws his sword. What is that sword. It looks different form an ordinary sword. Loid slides his hands over the large ball that was above his swords hilt. I could sense mana in that strange object on his sword.

"Echo of the night spree."

He swipes his sword at us hitting Terra who tried to counter it with fire. But the flames were snuffed out. The attack hit Terra who instantly froze. She had no life in her eyes but was talking. "Terra!?"

"No...I don't need it..."

"This strange he's should not be able to use magic." "A magic artifact maybe?" "It doesn't matter right now. We need to free Terra right now. And that sword he's holding is the key. We have to take them down while trying to protect Terra."

"Thats."

"It's great strategy honestly. Let's do this Ivalyo. This the moment we trained you for." Terra is dreaming maybe. I have to protect her no matter what! Servin casts another spell. "Saint dawn!" Large dark monsters appeared with weapons. I attack them breaking through them instantly. Hen attacks Loid starting a sword battle.

"AHHHH!" I knock one of the dark creatures' weapons from his grip. But throughs a punch at me knocking me away from Servin. They began to charge at me while I was on the ground. I run toward them with no fear. The adrainline with in my body was pumping. I could not think straight. Only just fighting.

"Ivalyo! Don't be reckless! Find the weakness! All magic has a weakness!" I ignored his words. I was going berzerk! I can't stop! Why can't I think! Fight!...just fight!

Loid slashes Hens shoulder trying to get me back to my senses. "You should focus here Hen. I'm your only opponet."

I tried to take down as many as I could but Servin spell did not stop. They kept coming back. "Annoying spell right. Its a simple spell. Honestly you don't even understand what or realize it huh." Servin watched as I fought nothing around me.

"Ivalyo!" He can't hear me! The illusion is messing with his senses! "FInish him Servin! We should not waste time!"

"Right. Well then mute. I hope you born a human in the next life." Servin strokes me with magical weapons spell. I fell on to the ground bleeding.

"Ivalyo!"

"It's done now. You lose." Before he could turn his attention to Hen. I had jumped up toward him. I slashed at his magic field. It broke instantly. He immediately cast a self-defense spell onto himself.

"How did you!?"

"Illusion is like a dream right. We can wake from any time in anyway. I should have thought of this before."

He casts another illusion spell on to me. I take a bit of my finger breaking the spell. "No more tricks. I'm goanna fucking end you Servin! No matter what!"
