First Mission

Although Jian Sheng said that, he still accepted it in the end. He took a glance to his side, the plane has already taken off and the 2 girls had closed their eyes.

Tian Xin held onto the tiny hand of Wen Jing. The two of them together looked like a painting of two angels.

Jian Sheng turned back and asked the system, "What would happen to them if I failed or declined the mission?"

The system replied in a serious tone like before.

[The little girl would end up being used a few times then mutilated and stuffed into a duffle bag. Then the bag would be thrown into the sea and only found after 2 months.]

"What?! Who would do something so inhumane?!" Jian Sheng was shocked at the same time felt boiling rage.

'A sweet 7-year-old girl would die in such a cruel way?'

Jian Sheng looked at the little girl who started snoring softly while holding her sister's hand. He felt a pang in his heart. Although he doesn't know them well, no one deserves this kind of ending.

'I'm glad I accepted the mission now. I'll do everything in my power to stop that. Children should be happy and free. They are the future generations. Humanity needs them to continue existing. Yet these animals want to snuff out our hope? Unforgivable!'

"What about the sister?" Jian Sheng resisted the urge to slam the fist down as the two girls were sound asleep beside him. He clenched his fist and slowly but strongly press down on the armrests.

[The older sister would be raped. She would then be locked up, drugged, and tortured physically and mentally for half a year before she was thrown into an incinerator while still alive just like many others who came before her as well as after her that shared a similar fate.]

Jian Sheng tried to calm himself down by taking deep breaths. He felt a slight pain in his palm and looked down. He clenched his fist too hard and his nails tore the skin on his palm. However, he felt more anger than pain and he still kept his fist clenched.

'One type of grain feed a hundred type of people. Even though nice people are hard to come by, many people start losing their humanity faster than humanity can recover. These animals do not deserve to live since they threw out their humanity and live like animals. Heck, even animals do not torture their own kind with this kind of ways.'

Jian Sheng really wanted to kill them. But in this society, murder will always land you in jail. Even if it was in the name of self-defense.

And besides, he will make them suffer so bad that they will rather be killed. This is not because he is a sadistic psychopath, but because it is the right thing to do.

An eye for an eye, blood for blood. They say revenge is an endless cycle, but that's because you never took it out from the root.

Jian Sheng looked at the siblings that are still sound asleep beside him.

'Don't worry, I'll be sure that you two will not end up as the way fate has made it.'

Jian Sheng closed his eyes and lean back into the chair. He kept self-hypnotising himself that he will save them, that he has the power to do so, that he must do everything he can to do so.

Slowly, his anger cooled and his clenched fist started to loosen. His body relaxed and he gradually drifted off into sleep.

Time passed and the system suddenly sounded causing Jian Sheng to awaken.

[Host, we will reach Country C in 15 minutes. You do not have to stay by the sisters' side as long as they are safe. When they will encounter danger, the system will send you a mission. There will be other missions awaiting host in Country C. Please explore and enjoy yourself.]

Jian Sheng opened his eyes. He glanced at his side and saw the two sisters still asleep. He looked at Tian Xin and she looks beautiful even though she had some drool at the corners of her lips.

Jian Sheng unconsciously stretched out his hand to wipe her saliva off, he stopped just as his finger almost touched her face.

'What the heck am I doing?! We're strangers and what? Just because you're going to save them you can treat her as if she's already your friend? I need to get my head out of the gutters.'

Jian Sheng quickly put down his hand and look around. The other passengers were either looking at their phones or sleeping. He heaved a sigh of relief.

After around 5 minutes, the pilot announced that they were landing. The air stewards and stewardesses walked around waking people up. Some people grumble and complain but they should thank them since it could lead to damage to the ears if they remain asleep because of the sudden change of air pressure.

Jian Sheng closed his eyes and tried to relax. An air steward came and call out to him gently. Jian Shen opened his eyes, held up one hand, and showed the 'okay' sign. The air steward smiled and nodded. Then moved on and gently called out to Tian Xin.

Jian Sheng moved his hand and gently touch Tian Xin's shoulder. He then gently shook her shoulder since she was not waking up.

After a few shakes, Tian Xin opened her eyes slowly and looked around. The air steward said in a soft voice that they were landing. She nodded and said thanks. The air steward smiled, nodded, and moved on to the seats behind. Tian Xin then gently shook Wen Jing awake.

Jian Sheng smiled at Wen Jing looked around with a slightly confused look. He then felt a slight pressure on his eardrums. This meant that the plane was lowering altitude and preparing to land.

He waited and the plane finally landed. People started getting up and leaving. He looked at Tian Xin who was trying to fully wake Wen Jing with a smile.

Jian Sheng was about to stand up when he suddenly thought of something. He turned to Tian Xin and said "Hey, it might not be much but why don't we exchange numbers? If you ever need help in Country C, I might be able to help. It might not be much though."

Tian Xin looked at him for a while and shook her head. "I don't think we will get into any trouble. We're just going to go around some tourist spots. Thank you anyways." She politely declined Jian Sheng's suggestion.

'Well, that makes sense. We don't really know each other much other than our names. Of course, she would be wary.'

Jian Sheng nodded and took out a paper. He wrote his name and number, then gave it to her. "Here, it's alright if nothing happens. But if something did, just give me a call." He then took his bag from the overhead storage and proceeded off the plane.

Tian Xin looked at the paper in her hands. She thought a bit and stuffed it into her pocket. She then took their stuff off the overhead storage and got off the plane while holding Wen Jing's hands. She looked around but could not find Jian Sheng, so she just went to the transportation counter and requested a taxi.

After leaving the plane, Jian Sheng got his luggage and walked out of the airport. He hailed a taxi in front of the airport, got in, but when he told the driver his destination, the driver turned around and looked at him as if he just escaped from a mental asylum.

He felt weirded out by the driver's gaze but he told the driver that his friend had asked to meet there. The driver told him he only accepted only online payment instead of cash. Jian Sheng nodded and only then did the driver started driving.

The driver's reaction was probably because someone wanted to go to a haunted place where not many people want to go. Although that place was turned into a hotel, haunted places are still haunted even if you add frills and sparkling glitter over it. This was because Jian Sheng got a mission as soon as the plane landed.
