Dungeon Sword

Tina promised herself that she wouldn't take a jump backward a third time. She had already been humiliated twice, and she wasn't going to let a third humiliation happen whatsoever.

As such, she looked angrily at Mark who was looking at her, with what she believed was a mocking face.

Although it looked like a mocking face, Mark was just smiling. Due to being a porter, he never got to fight in a dungeon, unless he didn't fear losing his temporary license. So, he didn't have sparring partners for a long time.

But now, he finally met someone who could not only keep up with his attacks but also, exceeded him by a lot. His last attack was one that not made could dodge, especially because they didn't expect the last change in the path to occur.

Yet Tina, with her limited time, not only saw the attack changing but also managed to jump back to make him completely miss his attack. He was finally happy to meet a competent fight he could fight with.

He switches his holding style and held the short sword like a knife. He once more rushed forward to attack Tina and slashed at her. Tina saw the attack coming and dodged it as easy as ever and even moved her palm forward to attack Mark.

But Mark saw the attack coming. He used unusual footwork to completely dodge the palm and once again continued his knife on its path, only this time towards her throat. It was a lethal attack if the knife was real.

Tina tried to hit his palm to redirect her attack, but it was too late. She had only one option left, she needed to jump back once more, and she did. In 3 attacks, Mark had managed to make her move back 3 times.

Tina was angry this time. Still, she calmed herself enough to ask him, "You know my fighting style?"

Mark was surprised to hear her speak at all. 'I thought she would remain unspoken the entire time,' he thought. He then pointed towards the seating area and said, "I was looking at your right from the seating area."

"That's it? You've never seen my fighting style before?" she asked, surprised.

"I have never seen you or your fighting style before. I only watched you fight for an hour and have a general idea of how you fight. I took advantage of that," he said.

Tina was stunned. 'He learned my style after looking at it for only an hour? Where did he learn to understand fights like that?' she wondered. He was the best student she had seen today without a doubt.

"Are we going to continue to fight?" he asked. It hit a nerve in Tina. She had promised herself to not dodge backward for the third time and he made her do just that.

"Alright, It seems you want a proper battle, so you will get one," she said as she reached for the hilt to her right and took out a sword. The sword looked white and dull and seemed to be made up of glass, but when Mark saw it, his eyes popped out.

"That's… a hunter sword," he said in shock. Hunter swords were swords that had no edge to them and were made by a special artifact maker using special ores found only in dungeons. They were nothing like a normal sword as they were useless when fighting outside of dungeons.

But inside a dungeon where mana was high, they could be activated and show their various different abilites. As such they would give an advantage to the hunter that had a dungeon sword, or any dungeon artifact for that matter.

Thankfully, right now it was useless, so it was as useful as Mark's own short sword. Still, fighting a bonafide hunter with her sword, Mark didn't like the look of this situation.

Tina did not wait for Mark to attack and moved on her own. Her speed was blisteringly fast and arrived in front of Mark. Mark barely managed to put up a defense with his short sword when Tina's own sword struck him, sending him flying far back.

Fortunately, he was still inside the arena. He immediately got up and looked around, but Tina was nowhere to be found. Instinctively, he placed his short sword over his head and surprisingly managed to block Tina who had jumped up and was doing a dive attack.

"You have good instincts," she said. Immediately, she made a sweeping kick from the right, hitting his left rib cage. Mark was sent flying to the side once more. Tina, however, did not let go of him.

While he was down, she jumped in front and threw a sword thrust right at his neck. Suddenly, a sword appeared out of nowhere, redirecting Tina's attack towards the arena floor.

Tina was surprised and immediately looked up at the person who had just entered.

"Ah, president. What are you doing here?" she asked in surprise. The person who had just arrived was the dean of the academy and the president of the Hunter Association of City C.

He was a tall, beefy man with short hair and beards with white streaks all over. He threw away the mock sword and looked down from Tina to Mark.

"Take him to the infirmary," He said as he looked at Mark who was grabbing his left chest while hurting in pain. Once a few teachers took him away, the president looked towards Tina and asked, "Are you trying to kill such a talented student?"

Tina finally understood her mistake. "Oh, no— I was— he—," she couldn't think of any words to say. She had already realized that she was in the wrong and just waited for the president's words.

"Miss Tina, I told you many times to keep your anger in check. If I hadn't been watching the fight by chance, you would have destroyed the future of such a talented student."

Tina drooped her head and simply apologized.
