I won the election: It's just a nightmare

"Waking up from a beautiful dream is like a nightmare"

Let us all welcome our new student body president Mardin Spencer. The principal enthusiastically announces my name. Yes, Spencer is my family name and for further info, My father's family has no relation to a certain famous family of a dead princess who married the Prince of Wales.

As I tread my way to the stage, I feel the euphoria of the crowd. I try my best to walk straight. As my mom always reminds me. Chest out, stomach in, and stop slouching it's bad for your posture. So with those loving reminders, I finally did what my mom always reminded me without a trace of resentment.

I walk with an elegant proud stride while the crowd cheer and shout my name and then I almost trip with a small stone on the ground and muttered softly in my head what the hell! Who is this individual careless enough to live that small pebble. Good thing I have a good balance and I steady myself. So I continue my stride as though nothing happens.

I wave my hand to my fellow students with a sweet smile of victory plastered on my face, as I continue slowly walking until I finally reach the stage. The school head gives the microphone to me and I said thank you very much, principal Skinher.

Then a distinctive familiar voice from the crowd shouted. Mardin! Mardin! Mardin! Why does that voice sound so loud in my head? Then the voice said wake up! How can you sleep in the library? You are supposed to be working on your election paraphernalia! Then I open my eyes feeling in a daze and I saw my friend Victoria frowning in disbelief and waving one big stack of fliers in my face. She said, look I finished writing and added some colorful designs in your fliers and you are just taking a nap in the library while hiding in this big book. Good old disguised but still working. Wait why am I praising your scheme? Mardin, I am mad at you for slacking off!

I stare blankly at Victoria, still attempting to fathom what just happen. Then I blink and again blink trying to clear my foggy head. Dammit! all those cheers and shouts, glorifying my name are just a dream!

It feels so good being exalted. I love those adoring looks of the throng while they keep shouting my name boisterously. This is heaven for me but then waking up from that celestial sweet dream feels like a nightmare. Now I feel a little depressed. It dawns on me that losing is not an option at all!
