Chapter 2 A Man and a Baby

Hanna had a hard time leaving her old home to be with the group, but she had to make sure that she had the supplies for herself and the baby. But when the jeep roared as we left for Wally World. The sight of the bus in an empty parking lot was weird. There were only a few cars, but most of them were broken into or blown to bits. I thought that this was a good idea, but the feeling of fear grew inside. They were still on the bus waiting for us, but I have seen why. Zombies stood at the door, banging to get inside. There had to be someone inside to make them this crazy. The only thing I saw that wasn't broken into or stolen was a motorbike.

"This is going to be a problem." Jade sighed in the back seat with Ace and Hanna.

"I'll get their attention away from the doors, as you guys break inside." I smiled and opened the jeep door. I held out my knife and gun with an evil smile. Running towards them yelling for them to come to get me. I know that this was crazy, but I was going to test this at one point. The idea of being bitten and not being affected by it.

"Lize!" Aron called out as I found my place to hold my ground. I turn to see at least ten of them following me with hunger in their eyes. The idea of death was no longer inside of me, but to the others was haunting them as I stood there. I started shooting for the head, but when I ran out and started to use the knife. Each fell to the ground with blood clumped and dried from each wound. I smiled never knowing that I could handle so many on my own. But soon I realized that one was still alive as it took a chunk from my leg. But soon it ended with Aron's gun firing at it.

His eyes spoke in many words of worry and how upset he was at me for running right in. All he could do was pulled me close to him, causing me to freeze as tears fell on my shoulder. The pain he felt was real as I knew that I had to change from my headstrong personality.

"Don't ever do that again," he yelled but was muffled by my shoulder. I smiled and pat him on the head, but was ended by Ben freaking out about my wound.

"Please tell me that it's not infected!" he cried as I was forced to sit on the ground. But to their surprise that it was healing already. But in the end, he wrapped it up and lecture me about being careful about my choices. But in the end, we were able to get inside without a problem. The only thing that bothered me was that there was someone else in the mall.

Inside as we walked in was quiet, but there were only a few sniffles from something. Jade and I thought it was a zombie before we heard it crying around the grocery store. The only idea was that there was a baby here in this wasteland of a world. Jade walked towards it was her shotgun in hand and took it very slowly. But when I got there to see a boy around our age with a little baby girl in his arm. I could tell that he was looking for food for her, but was failing to find the right stuff for her. Soon he realized that he wasn't alone and pulled out his gun. Aiming right for us.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I said with a frown on my face.

"I'm not letting you get any closer to me or my sister!" he yelled.

"You also don't know how to take care of one," I replied and took a step closer, this time in front of Jade. Making sure that she didn't get shot as I try to convince him to trust us. "The baby needs baby formula."

"I know that!" he snapped and kept his gun on me. By the looks of him, he was what people called that bad boy type. So I took it slow and walked forward towards him, but he couldn't shoot people. I knew that by his body language. So when I took his gun away made him feel weak as I told Jade to get some formula for the little one. She was glad to do so but didn't really trust the black-haired boy. He had tattoos and piercings on his body but was soft to his little sister. I could tell that she was only a few months old and was lucky to be alive.

But when Jade came back with a bottle filled with formula and handed it to him with a smile. I could tell that she liked his type for a very long time, but didn't want to flirt like some people. Soon as he took the bottle from her hand and gave it to his sister. I could see that his eye was lit up by seeing her happy. I knew that Jade wasn't going to let him leave as well after this.

"You can stay with us here if you want!" she chirped with a blush on her cheeks.

"I don't know if that's a good idea," he replied and backed up a bit.

"It better to stay here to have help with your sister than do it alone," I sighed and held out his gun to him again. He took it but sighed about something he was thinking.

"Fine, but I don't trust either of you one bit," he answered.

"We're not the only ones here," Jade mumbled.

"There's more of you?" he questioned.

"A whole group of us," I smiled as we walked back to the others. I could tell that they were shocked about finding someone who wasn't a zombie here. But they seemed happy about him staying and let him trust us. But I had other plans in mind as we had to get this place fortified in the next couple of weeks. This time with the help of having power to the building.
