Chapter 3 Settling Down

We might have gotten another member of the group, but that doesn't mean we didn't have work. The building had to be cleared from zombies and the unpacking was going to be a pain. Jade was working with the new guy called Jaxs as his sister was sleeping in a handmade cot. Ace, James, and Colt were working on clearing the area as Martin worked on getting the lights and power back on. I knew that the building had water, but was it safe to drink.

So I took the time to think of the layout we had. There was plenty of room for Hayhay to have a smithing area, a garage, garden, and other things that we could dream of. But that would take days to set up, but we can do it after a while. Aron stayed around me as my leg was still healing, but I wonder if that was the real reason he was there.

"So what do you think of this place?" I asked Aron.

"Nothing much for right now," he sighed, "But you're going to make it into something."

"Let's hope so." I smiled as I watch the others set up an area to rest for the night, but something felt weird. Jaxs and Jade were talking, but something was wrong. So I decided to look around in the bathroom. I know that we would have water, but how are we going to take showers here. Something caught my eyes as I saw what was a small child. As soon as she stood up with blood falling to the ground, I knew that something was wrong. But all I heard was crying as I have gotten closer to her, she seemed fine but I saw what was a bite mark on her hand. She was either turned or was about to turn. The thought was to hope she was going to be like me. Soon I saw her dead white eyes and her jaw was completely gone as she stumbled towards me. She was about nine years old as I pulled out my gun towards her head. She would be at peace and won't cause anyone else harm.

Bang the sound of the shot ringing in the bathroom as I heard groans of zombies nearby. I knew that something was wrong and was too easy. Wonder how many there are? So I walked out with a smile on my face as I have seen at least five of them. This was the start of our new home, so I took my time making sure each had a bullet in their head. But soon I heard another gun go off as Aron stood there with a worried look.

"You need to start bringing someone with you," he mumbled as I smiled.

"You know I can handle myself quite well." I laughed as the others showed up with a worried look on their faces. Jade stood there with a frown on her face as I walked out of the bathroom. Looking for something to clean the clumped blood and bodies in. Soon everyone else did their thing as they set up for the night and as Martin got the power back on.
