Chapter 4 Months Later

We had been settled here for a good few months as we collected a good number of resources. But over time Jade and I are not seeing things eye to eye. She wants us to stay in the safety of our freshly built walls and never go outside and I want us to go out and get what we need to survive. I know that Sting's death made her lose thought of how to do things, but we still had to learn to adapt to this new life. So, in the end, we would fight about it as I would go to Arron to ask for help. Lately, we haven't been as close as he would leave outside of the base for things.

I didn't want to think of the worst with my new sight of love, but at the same time, I felt torn and cold inside. It reminds me of all the deaths that happened and how I should have taken the fall. I felt like I wasn't getting sleep as I would work most nights and nap here and there, so we did fall behind. I know that Hayhay was building her area in the middle of Wally World, but to me it was lonely. I would talk to the others, and I know that Ace is worried about having a kid any day now. But what were we going to do? Taking the chance to walk out and think alone was all I could do. We still had plans to do, and one was about to start tomorrow.

There was an old Military Base close to the railroad system, but I heard it was loaded with zombies from Colt and James. They seemed to be my number one team when going outside. I could talk to them about what was going on, but it seemed like they didn't understand. I was different in their eyes, a leader and a weapon. They cared about my safety and how I should stay behind and make sure everything was fine. The thought of sleepless nights and sneaking out makes me shiver as I have seen Martin working on the fence.

"Hey," I called out slowly with a soft smile.

"What up Lize," he said with a stretch.

"Trying to get away from the others," I replied, "It just seems so lonely."

"I get what you mean," he answered, "Jade been up to my ass about getting this fence done and the camera system up and running."

"Yeah," I answered and sat down on the ground, "We been fighting too about what we should do. I rather not sit on my ass and watch us die out of anything."

"I think she's scared that you'll turn from another bite or something," Martin sighed, "but at least she cares about you. The others think so too, but they should let you do things without worry."

"Thanks, Martin," I answered with a smile and got up, "Well I better get those plans done and leave you to work."

"Don't work yourself to death, Lize." he laughed as he started to mess with wires on the fence. He was nice and hoped maybe he will find someone to be with. He always has time to talk to us when we have problems and work on the many projects on base. But some things bother me that I will never talk about to anyone. The dream-like state I had with the devil's virus and how there were others like me. It scared me as it seemed like the blood cult has something in mind for it, there must be something behind that. This was my home, but Jade didn't trust me enough with things. She wanted me to be inside and working on plans and to never leave my room in the light of day.

Arron seemed to not be interested in what I talked about and the kisses on the cheek were nothing to him anymore. Was I really going to be alone in the end with this? Was I nothing in my friend's eyes as they move on and have fun? Was I that much of a monster to them in the first place? These thoughts stayed as I tried to walk on and work with things. I should tell Jade that I'm going along on the trip tomorrow. I can't stay in this god-forsaken building any longer.

I walked towards the main doors and into the large room, we had set. Jade seemed to set herself in the liquor store as it was closer to the door for anything. She sometimes drinks, but she used it as her main office and room for a while. When I walked into the room to see if she was busy with some things. I was lucky that she was only talking to Jaxs as he was trying to calm down his sister to sleep. As soon as I step inside Jade's eyes glued onto my figure.

"Thought you have paperwork to do," she said with a frown.

"Came here to talk to you about that," I answered and it seemed that Jaxs took it as a sign to leave.

"Talk to you later," Jaxs said with a smile.

"Tell me why you're here," she snapped a bit.

"I'm going on that trip tomorrow," I quickly answered with a smile.

"No," she replied.

"I'm not going to listen anyway." I laughed as I started to walk to the door, "Plus I need to get out or I'll go crazy in here."

"We'll talk about this later." She yelled

"Pretty sure I won this time!" I called back
