In just a glance, Draco already saw through his aunt's plan. He sneered in his heart. He could not believe his aunt could be this sloppy to use a honey trap on him. And an obvious one.
They may have known of Riley's existence and had thought to use Draco's preference to dangle beautiful young men to seduce him. He had been through this exact scenario several times over the past few years. Men and women, throwing themselves on him, all sent by his relatives.
Draco had anticipated this. And he must admit his aunt's choice was not that bad. Lexi Chu was one of the better candidates compared to previous ones. Too bad Draco was just not attracted to the guy or anyone except Riley.
The boy's existence was an exceptionality.
Thinking about the youth, Draco cannot help but thank god for bringing Riley into his life. Riley was like a breath of fresh air around Draco's heavily polluted world.
Furthermore, looking at Lexi's worldly and calculating gaze, Draco was once again amazed that Riley remained pure and innocent. He guessed it was because it's the boy's innate nature.
Expressionless, Draco ignored Lexi's greetings and instead addressed his aunt. "I did not know aunt was so concerned about my own matters."
"Of course, dear. I am. You are now the head of the clan, and your needs are a priority. And you are not getting any younger, Draco. It's time for you to start thinking about having your own family," his aunt announced.
"Is that so?" Draco confirmed. His eyebrows went up in question. His gaze remained directly on Lexi, looking at him from head to toe.
Lexi was unnerved by that inscrutable grey stare. But he knew before agreeing to the plan that Draco Sy was a dangerous man to trifle with. However, Lexi had staked so much for this one chance. He could no longer walk away from it. Thus, Lexi steeled himself and seductively stared back at Draco Sy. He must win over the man.
Aramentha saw the exchange between the two, and she applaud the young man for his grit. Indeed, she had chosen well. Unable to hide her glee, Aramentha chuckled.
"Great! I can see sparks between you two. Draco dear, why don't you take Lexi out for lunch? Get to know him better," she suggested. Her face is full of expectations.
Even Lexi himself had no doubt Draco would take on the offer. He tactfully lowered his eyes and waited for Draco's invitation.
However, what happened next was beyond their imagination.
"I don't think it's necessary, Aunt Aramentha. I have seen enough." Draco declared. His eyes once again roved over Lexi meaningfully.
Lexi's gaze immediately looked up in surprise. He had always been confident of his looks and that it always worked to his advantage. Now he might just reap his greatest conquest!
At the same time, Aramentha Sy was ecstatic to hear Draco's response. She had high hopes for bringing Lexi Chu. But for Draco to be quickly enamored with him on their first meeting was unexpected! She excitedly remarked, "Well, if that is your decision. I would be delighted to arrange everything for you with Lexi's family. We can plan your engagement, then the wedding-"
"Wedding?" Draco interjected, looking indifferent. Then using a tone laced with sarcasm, he drawled, "I think you are mistaken, aunt."
"W-What do you mean? Look here, Draco, you may be my nephew, but Lexi is a respectable young man. I could not let you take advantage of him without marriage as a condition," Aramentha strongly reiterated.
How impressive and righteous it sounded. If Draco had not known his aunt's real purpose, he would have been incredibly affected by those words. Yet, the reality was cruel, as always. All this was for the benefit of his aunt's plan to take him down and eliminate him for good.
With a sigh, Draco said, "What I mean is, it's not necessary to waste Mr. Chu's time. I can tell you now we are not suited for each other."
"What? But… but you are clearly attracted to him!" The older woman clamored. Then she hurriedly added, "You've been staring at him… And how can you say you are not well suited for each other? Lexi is well-educated. Not to mention his appearance, one cannot deny he looks exceptional. What is it that you do not like about him?"
Lexi was also beside himself, asking the same question. He was almost sure he had Draco's attention. So, what happened?!
Draco saw the young man's expression and thus directed his answer to him, "Don't be discouraged, Mr. Chu. It's not that you are not attractive. I'm just not attracted to you."
After giving the young man a blow, Draco moved to stand up. He had nothing more to say. He did not wish to stay longer in their presence. He suddenly missed Riley's guileless responses.
When Lexi saw Draco about to go, he realized that everything he had been dreaming of was slowly slipping away. If he would not do something to hold on to it, he would completely lose it. In desperation, he boldly asked, "Mr. Sy, wait! Please tell me what it is that you are not satisfied with me. M-maybe I can still change to suit your preference?"
Draco did not care to answer. He turned to leave, but the boy was relentless. Grabbing his arms, Lexi begged, "Please, Mr. Sy? Humor me…"
"Since you insisted, don't blame me for being brutally honest." Moving to face the young man, Draco said deadpan, "It's your eyes. I don't like them."
Lexi was stunned. The hands holding Draco dropped limply to his sides.
Nonsense! His eyes were his best features!
Ever since he was a child, everyone had remarked on how beautiful his eyes were. Its phoenix shape highlights his face. Making it extraordinary; unforgettable.
Thus, to hear Draco Sy say it was the one reason he disliked Lexi is a big blow to his confidence.
Aramentha was livid. It was utter nonsense! It was very apparent that Draco was just making excuses.
Dropping all pretenses, she yelled, "Draco! This time you've gone too far! You don't like his eyes?! Would you really think I'd buy that nonsense?" Then not caring to be subtle anymore, she scoffed, "Or it's because of that tramp? It's because of him, isn't it? Where did you pick up that vixen? I cannot believe you would choose him over Lexi!"
Draco's jaw tightened, but his cold countenance remained unchanged. Without giving his aunt the satisfaction of getting a response to her tirade, he announced, "Aunt, if you do not have anything else, I would really like to rest. Oliver escorts my aunt and Mr. Chu to the door."
"Yes, Mr. Sy," Butler Oliver said, secretly glad to hear the guest was leaving. "Madam, Mr. Chu, please…" he continued, motioning to usher the two towards the door.
"Draco Sy! How dare you dismiss me?!"
"Aunt Amarentha, we're done discussing whatever you came here. Now Oliver, make them leave."
Aramentha was forced to leave.
Lexi was shocked into silence. Everything he had hoped for all went down the drain. All because of that slut of a boy! He must have worked his charm and had Draco wrapped around his little finger. The tramp!
Furious and humiliated, Lexi's face was scarlet red. But his eyes were like a burning fire. He could not accept the fact that he lost to a mere nobody! He's Lexi Chu! No one had ever rejected him. And he never ever takes no for an answer.
No matter what it takes, Lexi Chu always gets what he wants. Always.
