Confused by the unwarranted animosity from the guest, Riley's brows furrowed. He was sure he had never met the young man before today. So, he could not think of any reason for the hostility directed at him.
It bothered Riley a little. But then again, he did not want to dwell too much on it. With a shrug, he continued up the stairs.
As soon as Riley was out of earshot, Draco turned to confront his angry aunt. He was not too excited about the upcoming conversation. But he had no choice.
"Aunt Aramentha, please have a seat," Draco said in a curt greeting. It was the best he could do. He did not offer an apology, nor did he care for pleasantries. He would rather want to end this charade quickly.
Ignoring his aunt's obvious displeasure, he walked past her without sparing a glance at the smiling young man beside her.
Of course, the slight did not go unnoticed by Aramentha Sy. Her eyes flashed red in anger.
No apologies whatsoever? After the impertinent man ignored her calls and made them wait for hours?! Furious, the older woman briskly followed her nephew to the sofa. She intended to give him a piece of her mind. With gritted teeth, she seethed, "Draco! You-"
However, her words were interrupted. Because as soon as she opened her mouth, Draco called the butler. "Oliver, please send some snacks to Riley. Nothing heavy, anyway we'll start lunch soon. "
"I will, Mr. Sy. Madam, please excuse me," said Butler Oliver before he left to do the task given by Draco.
Afterward, Draco turned to her and asked, "You were saying, aunt?"
At that moment, all that Aramentha Sy wanted was to scratch that irritatingly expressionless face. And watch Draco Sy bleed for once. She never did like this nephew of hers. In fact, she loathed him! Loathed the fact that he became CEO, robbing her sons of their rightful position.
Aramentha recalled a few years ago, Draco Sy was nothing but an unwanted offspring of her brother. Her nephew was completely abandoned by his father and raised by the family's patriarch. He was nothing, but an outsider to the clan, a lone wolf without any backing.
So, Aramentha never did set her sights on him. His existence was not a threat after all. Which later on proved to be a fatal mistake on her part.
The nephew everyone thought to be a wolf without claws turned out to be a dragon no one could slay. When they finally discovered, it was already too late.
Draco Sy unexpectedly seized everything right under their noses! And they could not do anything but plot against him as he sat high on the throne of the Sy Business Empire.
Year after year, they watched in trepidation as Draco Sy gained more power and influence, strengthening his position. Not only within the clan but also in the entire business world. Though young, Draco had been ruthless and cunning when dealing with his transactions. And it earned him the respect and prestige of influential people, bringing the Sy Business Empire to new heights.
Draco was getting too powerful for Aramentha and the others who coveted his position.
For years, they tried hard to find Draco's weaknesses to exploit. But the man was just so guarded and suspicious of others. He never allowed anyone to get close. All the attempts of honey trapping to entice him were unsuccessful.
It was almost like the man was not human, devoid of emotions and incapable of affection.
That was until recently when they finally found something interesting: Draco Sy is keeping a young man in his mansion!
At first, Aramentha was skeptical of the information. Though she did go through with the plan, she still had doubts. However, after witnessing firsthand Draco's interaction with the tramp, she was 100% sure the rumors were true.
Aramentha was giddy with excitement. She could not wait to bring Draco Sy down for good.
Now remembering her initial goal, Aramentha held back her anger. She knew Draco was deliberately goading her. She will have to tolerate his behavior. If she lost her temper now, she would not be able to accomplish what she had planned for today.
With that in mind, Aramentha plastered a fake smile on her face. Then she motioned for the young man she brought with her to come closer before she remarked to Draco, "Draco, my dear, I especially made this trip to introduce you to someone. You see, I've always been concerned about you being alone. You're already 30 years old, yet has no one beside you. So, I took it upon myself to find you a suitable partner. Let me introduce you to Lexi Chu."
Gently pushing the young man in front of Draco, Aramentha gaged Draco's reaction. When the man did not say anything but stared fixedly at Lexi, Aramentha hid her sneer. Then taking it as a good sign, she continued with the introduction.
"Lexi here is a very exceptional child. He's a fashion designer. This young man just returned from his studies abroad and plans to start his own studio. He came from a reputable family. His father is a good friend of mine. I met him again a few days ago and immediately thought of you. I think the both of you are a good match."
The young man Lexi smiled coyly under Draco's perusal.
"Hello, Mr. Sy. I'm Lexi Chu," he said, meeting Draco's gaze. The man was sitting with his legs crossed, all his glory making Lexi dizzy with awe.
Lexi was over the moon when his father told him about arranging a meeting with Draco Sy. He had eyed the man for a long time. Except for the fact that Draco Sy is a very attractive man, he is also extremely wealthy. Lexi needed no further encouragement to agree and entice the man.
Moreover, to claim the title of Sy Business Empire's rightful madame, he was willing to be a pawn in this never-ending power struggle within the Sys.
However, Lexi was not that naïve to fully trust Aramentha Sy. He has his own plans. Besides, why would Lexi work so hard to get the man just to betray him afterward? When he can be with him and reign over the business empire?
Lexi was not that stupid. If he could have Draco Sy in the palm of his hand, he could have everything.
Everything he could have ever imagined.
