Back at Lenhua Corporation, in the lobby, Raven was pleased with what she was seeing through the phone's camera. Her message was received and judging by the man's reaction and what he said to whoever was in the room with him, he wouldn't go after Liehen.
She was regretting going after the man with such a petty video and move, but she really didn't want to waste time digging for more, in case it would tip off the rest of the parties involved in what she had uncovered earlier. It was a much bigger plot afoot and at this point, she didn't feel like she could get involved. It was too risky for this world.
Whether it was an alternate reality or the book world, she wasn't sure, but if she went against the laws of this universe, she was likely to get kicked out, and she didn't want to yet.
Satisfied with the result, she packed her laptop and headed towards the elevator to find her desk. Her stomach was growling, and she regretted not ordering lunch for herself as well. It was still time for her to grab a bite, so she changed direction and headed towards the coffee shop across the street from the headquarters. 'Did this place not have a canteen?!' she was so annoyed at the lack of employee perks. This was not how she treated her people, and her image of this company was starting to drop again to dangerously low levels. She was hangry!
She couldn't interfere, and she wouldn't. All she was here for was to study and understand more about this world, whilst maintaining the status quo as much as she could. It was difficult and troubling, but it was what it was. 'That was a such a deep thought' she laughed at herself thinking 'it is what it is'.
Walking across the street to the café, she thought lunch time would be a great opportunity to start getting some capital to make her life a bit easier in this world. She would leave everything to Liehen anyway, but it would be nice if she could be a bit more comfortable in this world.
She walked in the café and sat down, waiting for the waiter to bring over a menu. She was looking forward to tasting the food of this world and trying to see if there were any differences. She planned to order plain, common items on the menu to try them and compare with her experiences in the real world. Raven knew she was making a bit of a mistake calling her world the real world, since this was just as real, but she needed to make the separation somehow, until she figured out what this universe was.
Just as she was getting ready to signal the waiter for a menu, she heard a loud snort, followed by the clicking sound of a pair of heels that were heading towards her.
Raven was hungry, a bit stressed by the new world and having to measure every little action she took; she was tired and annoyed from both her internal conflicts and now the external ones. 'What now' she thought as she saw a pair of read, very ugly shoes stop right by her table.
"My my, if it's not the one and only miss executive assistant. I wonder what you had to do to get this job?!" the woman sneered, clear disdain and hatred towards Liehen. She was clearly implying something untoward between Liehen and Li Naihe.
'I cannot catch a break!' Raven thought, getting ready to snap at the woman. At the last second, she changed her mind though, remembering yet again, this was not her and she couldn't just react like she normally would.
She looked up from her chair, not getting up or making any other movements. Her face was showing a bit of confusion, staring the woman right in the eyes.
Shengua Lianhua somehow felt stared down at, even though she clearly had the height advantage. She felt like something was different and off about the woman in front of her, but she had every plan to humiliate her. There was no real reason behind it, just her jealousy and annoyance at any woman that was close to Li Naihe, her man.
Blinded by her obsession, she failed to take in the changes the woman in front of her was exhibiting. Even if she paid attention, she probably wouldn't have noticed. She wasn't exactly the smartest cookie in the jar.
Shengua Lianhua was a very conceded woman, and she felt like she deserved everything she wanted. She expected the world would be served to her on a silver platter, whilst she could frown at it and dismiss it. She was deluded into thinking that Li Naihe would marry her, and she would become the lady of Lanhua Corporation. For a long time, she even thought the company name was for her, seeing as the words were so close, but she had to give up on that crazy thought, when she finally realised the group was established before she was even born. It had nothing to do with her. The thought bothered her so much so, that she continued to tell her friends she was the reason why the Corporation never changed names, under the leadership of Li Naihe. This was of course complete nonsense.
Feeling the aggression coming off the woman in front of her, Raven squinted her eyes trying to figure out who this was. She really had no idea why this person was talking to her, but seeing as she was not herself, she waited for the woman to say something more, and hope to piece it together from the conversation.
Seeing as this woman was waiting for her reply, Raven had to bite the bullet on this one, and hope she won't get kicked out of this world. When she did a similar thing with Shengli, it was fine, but that was highly likely due to Shengli thinking she was joking, and not being affected by it at all.
Mentally preparing herself to get pulled back into her world, she looked at the woman and with a clearly annoyed sigh, she said "And you are…"
Shengua Lianhua looked like she was going to fly off the walls when she heard Liehen's words. 'How dare she speak to her like that, like she didn't know who she was?!' angered, she started shouting causing a scene in the coffee shop.
"How dare you speak to me like that you slut! You should keep your hands off other women's men, you hear me?!"
'What the actual hell?!' Raven thought looking at the crazy woman in front of her going off the rails. Was Liehen really the other woman? She did have this thought when she was suddenly brought into this world, but then she didn't feel any advances from the man. She figured this crazy person in front of her was talking about Li Naihe, but what if she wasn't?
As soon as this idea popped into her head, she decided to push the limits a little bit, to see if she could get more information. If she'd get kicked out, then Liehen could deal with her own crazy in this world, she wanted no part in it.
Deciding this was the best course of action, she looked straight into the crazy woman's eyes "I have no idea what you are talking about miss, I am not interested in men." She deadpanned.
Shocked and thrown aback by her answer, Shengua Lianhua just gaped and kept opening and closing her mouth. Raven thought she looked funny, like a fish out of water and wanted to make fun of her but it was not worth her time. She got up from the table, her lunch plans ruined, and walked towards the door to leave.
The woman finally regained her mind and shouted after her "You'd better stay away from my Naihe you hear me?! I'm his fiancée and don't you dare come near him again!"
Raven didn't bother to look back and just walked out. Clearly this was very disrespectful, but she was getting annoyed. Without lunch and having dealt with those idiots earlier was starting to grit on her nerves. All she wanted was to keep a low profile, but trouble kept finding her.
