That was the last thing she said, before she felt the pull on her body, and she knew she was going back. Not exactly sure yet about what was causing this reaction every time she threatened to quit, she was still pleased that she was able to leave this world behind. It was more hassle than it was worth at this point. If she could maybe investigate it more, or perhaps pick when she was going in and out, then she'd consider coming back, but until then, she had no plans of returning.
She was pulled back into her world, and the blinding light dimmed as she found herself on the chair she originally sat on when the phenomenon took place.
"Dominic, how long have I been gone for? By my calculations it should be approximately 1.2 minutes. "
"Welcome back madam, I was worried there for a second" Dominic said "or 1.2 minutes to be exact, your calculations are precise."
Dominic's remark about being worried for her pleased her, but now she was ready to put this project away for a while, not wanting to unnecessarily be pulled back in.
She put the book in the secure encasing she had in her lab and instructed Dominic to lock it into the radiation room, where steel walls would protect everyone from whatever effect this book was causing.
Thinking about how dramatic the experience had been, Raven started to consider that maybe it wasn't an alternate dimension per se, but more the book dimension. The crazy woman that shouted at her, the company rivalry, the plot to overthrown Li Naihe from his company, all followed the same line as the story book, with the only difference being that her experience today was actually similar to the experiences the main character had, when she initially considered Li Naihe as a love interest, before switching to the male lead in the story. Li Naihe and the male lead were competing love interests for the female lead, but because she couldn't deal with Li Naihe's cruel and ruthless streak, he was vilified and eventually dumped in favour of the male lead.
'Pathetic' she snorted at the plot and the man's fate, still thinking he was better than the male lead. Whatever it was, not her problem. Even so, because of the similarities of following a particular plot line, she now felt like this might very well be the book world. She chided herself for not realising it sooner, but it didn't seem like it was too late.
She wanted to check what other changes happened in the book, but she was a bit worried about causing another reaction and being pulled back in. Since she was now on the hypothesis that this was a fictional world, why would she be brought into it, it made no sense to her. Perhaps it was a phenomenon that had nothing to do with her specifically, but to do with the book itself.
"I cannot believe she left again?! This girl will be the death of me Liam!!" Maeve cried whilst reading everything unfold. "I don't know what else to do, she has too much power over this world and her thought process is just too cold and calculating!"
Liam sighed, watching Maeve get upset yet again. She was so impatient; and even though this was adorable, he needed to bring her back to reality soon.
"Love, you know you can't rush things. Look, she did help him in the end, they need time." He pondered about the barriers they were facing and how to help from the shadows, but noting was coming to mind, better than what they were already doing.
"He's such a fool, why did he have to provoke her like that?!" Maeve snarled "is he an idiot or what?!"
Liam was looking at her like she was the most precious thing in the world, and a smile crept on his face. His impatient little vixen was now getting annoyed, and he found that adorable. He wouldn't dismiss her if he knew it was actual annoyance, but this was more a mild frustration she was venting. He knew secretly she was pleased. The pieces were moving in the right direction, and they would win. The man was already in love with the girl whether he was ready to admit it or not, they just had to put a bit more work the other way around.
"I know love, let's just be patient and see what happens."
Maeve sighed as she looked up from the pages she was reading. "Yea, they'll figure it out eventually."
They both looked at the pages on the table waiting to see if any more would get written, but nothing happen. They'd just have to wait and hope for a larger change in the future. They were on the right track, and their plan was slowly going ahead as predicted. Ok maybe it was excruciatingly slow, but still…
Liam chuckled "Third time's the charm love, you'll see."
Maeve giggled and blew him a kiss that turned into a dazzling emerald shamrock.
'That's the spirit!' Liam thought moving towards the kitchen to start cooking dinner. He loved these little moments.
Raven felt a bit strange all of a sudden, thinking about her experience. She wanted to learn more about the world she was in and study it. She couldn't quite point her finger at what this feeling was, could it be disappointment, it felt more like concern. Why should she be concerned with anything that had to do with that world, she left before she could cause more damage.
She thought about the book plot and how it would progress, and a twang of sadness crept up on her. Was that man going to be ok in the end? The book didn't have an epilogue, so she had no idea. When the female lead of the book went with the male lead, there was nothing else written about Li Naihe. She hoped he'd be ok, or at least his business would be. She put the thought out of her mind quickly and decided it was time to get on with her day and her other responsibilities. She had a lot of work left to do and couldn't afford distractions anymore.
